Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?

Recommended Posts

Rocket also posted that "DayZ SA will not be out for a while..."

He just said he thinks it'll be out before April. No guarantees.

So you've played the standalone already?

I'm talking about the standalone if you didn't get that yet.

sigh,

so what game did u deduce this from: "Helos need a lot of upkeep to maintain and repairs aren't anywhere near as easy as the game makes it out to be (who the fuck can carry a main rotor assembly anyway)."

now read my post again. there you go, not that hard.

Yeah, I can't help but think Rocket forgot that he was going to utilize the same release scheme as Minecraft. Or was scared off by The WarZ. Sad sad sad...

Just needs to realize that WarZ's attempt at the release scheme failed was because of a number of reasons. One being the community.

Helos' DO need a lot of upkeep... in real life.

Obviously they don't need much in Day Z mod so I wouldn't be talking about that, now would I?

you have to pay attention to the context these things were said. Rocket was asked if he thought it would be out before April. he didn't just offer that date

December to April

that would be a shame

I know...but I really think if Rocket and the team of Bohemia make something unique it will be worth the wait. That sounds odd, i know, but in the end the more we wait the more the pleasure will find it's way to our game. Life has so much to offer, it's not important if a video game is delayed for one - three months. Have fun playing the mod. Other things are secondary.

Reading the WarZ Forum is a hilarious form of entertainment, if you ever want a great belly laugh go on and have a read what the Developers say. I hope when they realise no development will be done on that Game that all the War Z fanboys with their tails between their Legs dont come here lol

Think it's a little more complicated than that, but you could say that when WarZ turned out to be a giant dud and that it was promptly removed from Steam, it might have confounded his decision to deliver more than an updated mod and more of a game. I think we benefit from this either way, since the mod switched hands and became a community thing, more whitelisted servers have shot up, there's not the same imminent need for a standalone as in September/October.

Who knows maybe his December date, even forced WarZ to release prematurely to capitalize on being first on Steam and luckily backfired for them.

Well, they already have (according to rocket and matt) a pretty stable version with all the main changes to architecture that they said they wanted.

Now they will release that closed version for invited people to test, this will probably happen soon. I'd risk speculate this will happen in January still.

These people will play and try to find bugs/problems. This is not easy, so we can easily imagine they using a whole month testing the early build.

I'm pretty sure they would try to fix said bugs as soon as they are discovered... so testers and devs will work simultaneously.

After the test period, let's give BI another week to fix the last few problems (some of which required some time to recode, etc).

Following this logic, we would have a late February, early March release to the public.

Put in this equation, a couple weeks of delay, or more serious problems that are not so easy to fix, and we would have a late March release, which goes according to what rocket said (before April).

EDIT: IVAN and MARTIN were RELEASED from GREECE.... so we can expect a slightly faster development after they are back on track working on Chernarus.
