I e-mailed BattlEye about their global bans.

Recommended Posts

Essentially, I am tired of explaining to people that we can't remove their bans, and I'm sure the rest of the Community support team and forum moderator team are too. So I went ahead and e-mailed BattlEye this:

Hi there,

I'm writing to you with a very simple suggestion, as the members of the DayZ Community Support staff have many, many posts and support tickets asking for help with global bans. We obviously cannot help them, as it lies on your end. However, there's no indication to this in the actual ban message, so they end up coming to us first, wasting both our time and theirs.

My suggestion is simple: In addition to the current message (BattlEye: Global Ban: #123XYZ), you should include an address to find more information (BattlEye: Global Ban [#123XYZ] For more information, visit www.BattlEye.com/support). This cuts down the time it takes for a banned user to contact you, and it cuts down on tickets we can't deal with.

Hopefully you find the time to read this amidst the dozens of e-mails you are probably getting about global bans.

Thanks,

Rage

What I'm wondering is if they'll ever read it, or even if they did implement it, if anyone would actually read THAT.

I hope they do implement something like what you have suggested.

Upon reading their FAQ, it appears they often get e-mailed about how to get a new CD-key. I should've mentioned they can return the favor and just direct those questions to us.

We'll still get them no matter what, soon it will change to "I haven't played in months and never cheated and now I am VAC banned, please unban"

It's a great idea, someone from BE will read it so fingers crossed. Smash is right though, many people will still head straight here without really reading it properly. I guess it'll be the same story with the SA and VAC bans too.

Yep. Oh well, worth a shot.

There will be a lot of ban Topics in the next few days to come.

I witnessed about ten Globals in the short while I was playing yesterday (DayZ & Wasteland).

Mr BE is active on these Forums, if you were not aware.

Hello there

It's just a part of the job, no matter what info one supplies, folk will still want to get un-banned and will try any connected route to the game to achieve it or to wrangle a new key/copy of the game.

But, but...... Where will i get the satisfaction of seeing badly spelled topics where the mods busts hackers with the same account name on a hackersite?

Btw: You should give them some time before locking so i can enjoy their sweet tears some more :)

i agree, most people hack and get banned then try to repeal it, but people have been wrongfully banned alot from BE and it REALLY makes me mad when people act like BE has NEVER wrongfully banned somebody EVER.

all i ever see on the ban repeal threads is idiots say "tr0l0l0lo0ol0lool0 y u hack brah fuk off mate bro haha ur banned fag hahahaha" but there has been people banned for no reason before.

Exactly. I just love going to the ban appeals section, seeing "DO NOT POST YOUR GLOBAL BAN APPEALS", and the next topic after that being "wtf i got golbal bunnied!1!1!"

There is a difference between being wrongfully banned and being banned for something besides directly hacking.

For example, you could attempt to download a simple thing completely unrelated to hacking, or even DayZ in particular (A texture pack, FPS booster, whatever), and it steals your CD-Key. It gets replaced with a CD-key that was banned a long time ago for hacking.

When you appeal to BattlEye about YOUR key getting banned, you're only giving them SOMEONE ELSE'S key. They check this key, and it was banned for clearly hacking. You are branded as a hacker simply because you were silly enough to download something dodgy.

All in all, odds are most of the people who are banned have not done anything to warrant a ban (at least, not yet), however, every single CD-key that is banned is done so for hacking, clear as day.
