enforced "friendly" on private server? wtf!

Recommended Posts

So apparently there are private servers where one can be banned for calling 'friendly' then shooting someone. Some lunatic lands a chopper in the appartment complex behind cherno. I call out friendly to hitch a ride. Some asshole shoots him while I get attacked by zombies. Then I got killed by presumably the same shooter. Pilot thinks I did it and get a tempoary ban!

Sorry but that's bs! Not that i was unjustly acused ut that its a rule at all! What is the point of these lame servers with 24 daylight, no pvp and now no meanies?

Thats why I don't bother with private servers. Every one has their own special rules, loot tables or ideas on what the game should be like, and I can't be arsed to go through 20 of them till I find one that just runs the regular DayZ mod.

Not everyone likes pvp, don't like the rules? Don't play on those servers. Pretty simple really.

It's their server... They can do whatever they want on it. If you don't like the rules, don't play there.

I've even seen servers that are friendly only. They'll ban you for killing any players. Naturally, I join those servers and get banned pretty quickly.

I play friendly all the time, regardless of restriction, but on that note I haven't seen a PVP only server where you get kicked for not killing other players!

That would legitimise psychotic behaviour!

Completely agree with the OP, why the fuck are you even playing if you're afraid of dying?

Fuck off back to Barney and friends, my little pony and carebears thanks

I just don't understand the desire to turn what is a unique game into basically another COD or Battlefield.. Heck, even in Battlefield people used to team kill to get the Apache

heh I got banned from one of those servers, not even killing anyone but claiming that there was no point to the game after my friend got banned (He killed another player?!) and going off on a little rant about it :)

but yeah they pay for it so let them run it, of course if they get alot of traffic thats another matter

I wasn't gonna comment in this thread because I am torn. If they can build a happy little community and everyone is content with their server, who are we to say no? As long as it is a private hive there is nothing wrong with people limiting their own DayZ experience.

Personally I think it would become very boring.

On the other hand tho, this seems to go against what Rocket has said he wanted DayZ to be. (Although maybe he has changed his mind about this)

If someone is paying for it, and people are playing it, there must be a demand for this playstyle. If you don't approve stay out of them and see if they die off.

Friendly only servers don't strike me as enjoyable, but I'm all for letting each server do what they want with the mod. I've seen a server that wasn't just "Friendly Only", but started you with NVGs, a DMR, and every other piece of equipment you could need. So there was no need to loot and you can't PvP. I have no idea what the hell the players were doing but there were over a dozen of them on the server so apparently they were getting their kicks somehow.

I say to each their own. People complain about 24/7 daytime servers, servers that adjust the starting gear, servers with too many vehicles, etc. I think all of these options are fantastic even if only a small percentage intrigue me. The freedom to play DayZ in the style you want is one of the most appealing aspects of the mod. Allowing people to set the rules on the servers they are paying for is a natural extension of this idea.

Let's just remove the main threat of the game and have a car fixing simulator and collect high grade military weapons for the purpose of killing NPCs, How can anyone find killing zombies fun for more then 3 hours?

I've been playing that way for more than 300 hours and am still having a blast. People are different. I'm older, so maybe in my younger days picking up the first weapon I find and killing every player I see would have been appealing, but now I prefer other ways.

EDIT: Let me clarify I do not play on "Friendly Only" servers as I personally find the threat of PvP enjoyable, but I do play on underpopulated servers with 15 or fewer players with the intent of avoiding PvP whenever possible.

Why should everyone have to play the way you want to play? Some people don't like having their fun ruined by people that just want to run around and kill everything that moves. The funny thing is, most friendly only servers are always highly populated.

And worse than cheaters? Really? Actually it's the people that go to friendly only servers just to grief on the people playing on them by killing as many people as they can before getting banned that are the ones that are worse than cheaters.

Lol why is it only some of the Pvp hardcore who play this game are idiots? Unbelievable. I never seem to see anyone else behave so stupidly on here.

I would love to play on a server like this. With the moral ambiguity of player contact defined in the title of the server, it could be more like a gladiatorial sport. Teaming up not allowed either!

While nobody likes and asshole player, nobody likes and asshole admin, personally I think there needs to be some clearly defined rules that just because you decided to make your own server doesn't mean you get special privileges above being able to administrate the server itself and make changes to spawn rates, game type (vet-regular) and time of day and banning people based on scripting alone or in a rare case, actual hacking, otherwise it's not just the small dick skiddies that will eventually shit over the mod, but the overzealous admins will as well as all this will do is drive people away (and yes, it matters if this happens) and I'm sure current and prospective admins don't want to drive their player base because they don't like being killed in DayZ (see how silly that sounds?).

The underlying spirit of DayZ is survival first and foremost and if that means paying for stupid mistakes like landing a helicopter in a high traffic player area and getting shot for doing so, then so be it, that's what it's all about it's not just the infected you have to contend with, it's also other people weather they be nice or shady bastards.

You're going to get PvP in DayZ and there's no way to avoid it if you're going to purposely put yourself in the way of it, and part of surviving in DayZ is learning how to avoid it in the first place, that's what I like about this game, while I don't go out of my way to kill other players, I most certainly will shoot your ass if you don't answer my hails, or start shooting first, do you think it's good sportsmanship to make rules based on your feelings at the time when you get killed in DayZ, like getting tricked?

thinking about this too, what happens say when a "friendly" non pvp server is hosted by say a provider with multiple people hosting from then (aka villayer or somthing)...

basicly means you can gear up in peace with admins kicking/banning anyone that trys to kill you...then pop off over to a diffrent server (same map and host though) and start shoot ppl with your "hard" owned guns and ammo etc...

Hello there

Nowt wrong with friendly servers. As long as they don't share hives/are non exploitable.

If you don't like em play somewhere else.

If you think it ruins the game? So what? Your'e not playing there and it should have no impact on your gaming experience.

One can't do anything about private hives, no need to complain about em.

And just exactly who are you to dictate these rules? Easy answer; you're a nobody. The day YOU start paying for THEIR server, then maybe you can set the rules in stone.

What part of "private" is so hard to understand for all you people bitching about it? You are not playing on their server. You are not affected by what they're doing on the server. So why do these ignorant threads keep popping up?

I'm banning you and every other hater from my private hive where everyone starts with a helicopter and AS50, no PVP, no PVZombie, no PvAnimals, 30 second day/night cycle and zombies shit cans of beans and piss Mountain Dew. The rest of your are invited.

Private Servers are called "private" for a reason darling.

I personally refuse to associate myself with most private servers because of versatility. The last private server I was on went on vacation and never returned. I also find the constant threat of looming danger to be rather alluring. But for the members of the community who would rather not have to worry about losing their items those friendly enforced private servers should serve as their haven.
