The M24, Gentleman's Rifle

It isn't some bandit DMR with 19 shots in reserve when they miss the first time, and it's not one of the 50 cals bandits are so fixated on nowadays. It deals the same damage as a DMR, so you get the knockout first shot, and it can be zeroed. I'd go so far as to say that the M24 is the most gentlemanly rifle in stock DayZ.

The CZ550 comes in a close second, but the M24 is more practical with the nicer scope and since it can combine ammo for storage.

I think the CZ 550 looks nicer than the m24 with the wood finish, but for all practicalities, the m24 is more versatile with the mil-dots and the ability to combine ammo into a dmr mag.

I completely agree and I think it should be made either a lot rarer or be taken out completely.

The DMR is far to common for how powerful of a weapon, I like to refer to it as the noobtube of DayZ because that is what it is.

It has 7 or 8 possible spawn locations, can be used with night vision, 20 round magazine, 2 hit kill, ammo is EVERYWHERE and since most people don't know how to snipe properly they just spam rounds down range because they know they can afford to with the DMR. I hate the gun personally and would take an M24 over it any day but it is far to user friendly, the same goes for the AS50 and M107, albeit to a lesser extent

The M24 is without a doubt the sniper you can show your skill off the most with, everybody can fire ten as50 shots in three seconds and it will hit SOMETHING, and every hit equals death

With the M24, you can hit someone in the torso, the might fall over, might run away, shooting in their legs is the best to do, especially if they are chased by zombies, getting headshots with it however is also quite easy because of the fast bullet travel time and the i think highest precision in the game of all rifles there are

The M24 is a great weapon. But I use the .50 cals until there is no option anymore to combat log. It happened to a clan member of me yesterday: He shot a guy with his M24 and the guy did not die, but combat logged. My clan member was pissed the whole evening ^^.

If you use a .50 cal the enemy cannot log out - thats why I use them. As soon as this cowardly tactic is no longer useable I switch immediately back to the M24 / SVD.

hehe same :D The CZ 550 is the best looking gun in the game IMO. But I do love the M24 for it's Zeroing and easy to find ammo.

I love the fact that I can swap the common DMR mag to M24 mags. The first time I found it, I also found 4 DMR mags. I saved the DMR mags for later use and put them in my backpack.

m24 is the real sniper rifle and it should be the best you can find ingame.

dmr is cool too,it is easier if you must quickshot someone or if you are shooting without any idea of the range because you can try another mildot if you miss.

.50 should be wiped.

Lee Enfield.

Honestly, due to it's high noise level and range, I would never go as close to saying the Lee is a "battle-rifle."

It's category fit's nicely alongside it's scoped cousin's, even in the real world.

It is the best, in my opinion, of the bolt-action rifles for standard cover fire.

I also thought it was gone - but it happened yesterday. The guy was hit once by a M24 shot (I saw the blood) - the guy was leaving the game after this first hit.

The best looking sniper rifle is the SVD Camo in my eyes. With this nice camouflage - it is just beautiful.

Remove the .50 cals from the game? I would say clearly NO. You need it to stop vehicles and just to put in some realism - these weapons are used in actual conflicts also against soft targets. So they are legit and they hurt! Let them in the game. If someone gets shot over and over by snipers, it is not the problem of the weapon or the bandits - it is the problem of the player. During my entire playtime in DayZ I was shot 2 times by a sniper. People just have to learn how to move through sniper-controlled areas. If you get shot all the time YOU are doing something terribly wrong and you should think about your movement tactics.

If someone gets shot over and over by snipers, it is not the problem of the weapon or the bandits - it is the problem of the player.

Part of the problem is the extremely high amount of ammunition that allows you to waste antimaterial bullets on players. Imagine you only have 10 bullets for that .50 rifle and must save them carefully in case you see that chopper moving to your position.

Since Dayz doesnt have highly armored vehicles, common sniper rifles should be enough to take down wheels and crew. Killing gunners make choppers run away fast, and you dont need a .50 cal for that.

I prefer standard non auto snipers, because each shot counts and it adds to the experience, IMHO.

PD: Ofc I use every m107 and As50 i can find, because pwning chops and trucks with that is piss easy, but there are many other options.

The M24 is my long rifle of choice. I would keep this over the M107 or AS50.

I like the SPR over the DMR, but that's just personal choice.

If there is a way to plug a scope on the enfield in the standalone, i wont have a second thougt about using it

its crazy, it has almost the same precicsion and bullet drop like the M24, and it even does more damage for the lulz (10000 i think?)

The Lee Enfield is an old school battle rifle, being purposely built for military use rather the conversion of a hunting rifle (Mauser KAR98) or target rifle (Springfield 1903) into a battle rifle.

While it should do very similar damage to the 7.62 NATO round used in the M24, I'd expect the accuracy of the modern M24 to be far superior to that of a well-worn Lee Enfield (out of service globally in the early 1960s) that didn't exactly have a match grade chamber to start with.
