game achievements?

Recommended Posts

im sure its been thought about somewhere at some point but i wanted to throw this out there just in case.. what if there were individual achievements that players could accomplish? it'd certainly give players more incentive to try different aspects of the game as well as giving players more focused goal oriented playing styles.

  • sniper kill from x amount distance
  • x amount of kills with x weapon
  • operate x vehicle
  • give x amount of blood transfusions, bandages, morphines ect
  • kill x amount of zombies
  • set up and use x amount of tents
  • stay alive for x amount of days

and so on and so forth..

each achievement could have increased number increments as players progress so its continuous. this could also be where the leaderboards could be ENABLED instead of "temporarily disabled" on www.dayzmod.com :D

im not sure how exactly it would work out in terms of being able to view / keep track of what players have achieved...buuut hey i only wanted to throw this on the table to see what everyone else thought.

thanks for reading guys, ciao

I believe each person should have there own personal Achievments, just like DayZ is meant to be played, your way ^_^

I think they are planning some type of personal page on the website, to show your stats and shows your ranking within those stats.

All i would like would be a pedometer type device included as a findable item, see how far one has travelled with a char.

It's better without achievements. I love the sandbox feel, especially with the kill counters taken away.

i think its a decent idea tbh ....most games have achievements and they are a popular ,though your idea seem a bit l33t for me and would prefer just a simple achive sytem that helps people learn the game similar to minecraft * eat for the 1st time ,start your 1st fire ,equip your 1st weapon ,etc * and not scoring people as would just lead to more camping etc and noob killing

I would really love to see some achievements and challenges to constantly remind me I am playing a game because I can't have fun without someone telling me with numbers I am actually accomplishing anything! The more the better.

I hate achievements with a passion and the definitely detract from the game far too much - especially a game like DayZ.

I can't count the number of times people have let the team down in various games because 'Oh, I want the grenade achievement' or 'Oh, I'm only going for headshots' which is completely detrimental to the sandbox feel.

ALl it will do is encourage players to camp spawn areas to try and pad their stats.

No. Make your own goals. It's better that way. No one has to worry about achievements.

In ArmA your achievements are your own.

Read the stars, find north without compass.

Learn the difference between cover and concealment, live longer.

Understand mil-dots, score a headshot on 700 meters.

I mostly believe achievements belong in games that are so easy, you have to add a false sense of achievements by ringing a bell and showing a pretty picture. :)

. . .pedometer. . .

I surf the web too much. The first thing I thought when I read this was. . . more the pedo, less the meter.

Then common sense happened. =]

Totally. Added to that is being able to pass on your knowledge in certain areas when you meet somone struggling in game.

I can support few achievements for this and that, but it shouldn't be as major as they are for say World of Warcraft.

Like stated above it's achievement in it's own category when your know-how for DayZ garners enough information to get by on your own and share it with your friends or so.

Personally , I think stats would be the worst thing to happen for DayZ .

Poeple will alter thier play style if they think thier epeen might gain from it .

In my opinion , zero stats at all , ever , for anything , but most especially , player kills .

It's not like killing players is an achievement , in fact , it's more of an achievement to not kill players .

The only Achievements I see are...

If player lives X number of game playtime (5 days, 10 days, 30 days, 60 days..etc)

Maybe there should be SERVER BASE Achievements--- If a the power is returned back to a city, a base is made,--these could even be attached to players if they helped.

This.

Survival time should be the only stat that is recorded.
