  1. To everyone asking this question. This change was likely implemented for the same reason I implemented it in my mod. Consuming items inside of vehicles is buggy at best and can lead to duplication of itemsin certain situations. It is not a change meant to balance anything. It's a change to close off a duping exploit. That's it.
  2. Whats with the no eating/drinking etc in vehicles... its realistic to be able to do this whilst in a vehicle and would be a pain to have to pull over and ever so often if passengers needed food/drink etc etc.
  3. * Eating and drinking in a vehicle should be possible in my opinion. The only time that it shouldn't be is if you are the driver and you are driving at the moment of consumption. Soda cans could be consumable while driving, could affect your ability to turn by a bit or something. * Bandaging could be applied by someone else in the car but not by the injured person. Maybe only in bigger vehicles such as the van or a bus. Also, antibiotics shouldn't be a problem to munch on while in a vehicle. * Completely disable player list to create a deeper fear as it makes you less knowledgeable of who may be around you. * Have roaming zombies around at all time, only when a player catches the eye of another zombie or kills them with a weapon that attracts zombies should multiple zombies spawn. People know where people are due to the zombies that spawn near them. The roaming zombies could spawn if someone is within 1000 meters instead of 200 if the optimization is wanted. * Spawn zombies even if you are in a vehicle. # Having zombies spawn only if the player is detected, and possibly only in the structures near the player could allow players to hide from helicopters. At the moment if you want to hide in a building it will have an opposite effect due to that the zombies will appear around you. # The ability of dragging corpses of zombies and players could help stealthy approaches become possible.

    Warm clothes

    Seraja army base is where i get all of mine. Also if you and others have the warm clothes on, ONLY ONE person can get in the vehicles. We either change clothes or try to time is perfectly where we are all getting in at the same time. The warm clothes are definitely bugged.

    "Friendly" is overused imo...Like when they didn't attack vehicles marked with the red cross because they transported wounded until they found out people actually moved military stuff "under camoflage".
  6. FINALLY TOOLBOXES HAVE A PURPOSE AGAIN... Now about that no eating and drinking in a vehicle....um ya that is just kind of dumb...since that was one of the realistic things i thought about the game....in fact i wished it was expanded upon through giving medical aid in vehicles...it is just logical and makes sense being allowed to eat and give medical aid in vehicles...now for things like bikes and such...eh ya that wouldn't make sense. But can't those be excluded some how... I like how a lot of exploits were addressed but the whole no doing anything in a car just seems dumb to take away....last time i checked some people live in there cars...and eat...and drink...and i think i can put a bandage on while in a car... I thought it would actually add a nice cooperative experience allowing other people in the car to heal each other....sooo can we like make that happen oooorrr no?

Let us at least try it with lights! Also a few vehciles like the kamazrefuel and repair trucks would be awesome as vanilla. On our server everything is done server side, we rather not use mods and stay as close as we can to avoid any downloads. I can understand other class bans and simulations like tanks, planes etc, but some vehicles are harmless and as you see above in the code, the lights/street lights etc are all denied access from working :)

  11. What if we just add realistic seasons? This would take care of just about every thing you have up there. Seasons to me should be lasting the whole entire time the season actually lasts. We already have realistic times for day and night cycles. Winter- In the winter, it's cold, and infection could set in pretty easily, and animals are in hibernation or migration. Season Epidemy, Epizooic, and Cold are then included in part. Also, get rid of the crap that makes no sense. Vehicles don't consume more fuel in the winter unless you want to keep it warm. Other than that it doesn't do much to consume more fuel. With the decrease in animals I guess you could say it could be called the hunger season too. Still, these changes with the seasons should only make sense. Spring- In spring, it'd be raining a LOT of the time, and zombies would probably be howlin' 'cuz they're hormonal since it's spring and everything is mating. Maybe this would be the season to add more chance of getting infected as the disease would be looking to spread. Seasons Zombie infestation come into effect. You also only talk about bad effects and the changes in player behavior from those effects. A good effect of spring should be more animals out and more water. Summer- there's your fire season. Still rains in summer, though. Fall- leaves fall, things start to dwindle, gets a bit colder, and everything just looks a bit more beautiful. Random rain showers from the summer still leak in. In closing, I'd like seasons, even though they'd require a ton of work considering they'd have to add that many more files for things covered in snow and leaves changing color, but don't go adding things that don't make sense. Already in DayZ, if you have a weapon, it becomes harder to find ammo. This is arguable, but I had a Lee Enfield in Cherno and couldn't find any mags for it except 1 in the church. Same with all my weapons. The point is, things should be as they are. It's either there, or it isn't, don't go bullshitting those of us who actually like to keep our weapons by decreasing ammo spawns of that type for us [(rocket) sorry if this is untrue and the DayZ gods just hate me] and don't go BSing us who just want to play the game by decreasing food and ammo spawns for no reason. It's either there or it isn't. The weather outside does not affect how many cans I have in my pantry.
  12. The loot system is getting an overhaul for the standalone. I'm hoping for something like this. Vehicles should sometimes spawn with some random items in them too.

    Preferable someone from that Mod-Team, if still a little part of it exists? It happened to me on Friday. Today, vehicles found but Helicopter didnt spawn.

    Hi there! We've emjoyed the map so far (even tested the new guns youve added) the overall conclusion is pure awsomeness! :) there are some issues though :) 1) The heli platform where the military chopper spawns isnt levelled, after spawning the heli slowly rolls off the platform (has wheels) 2) The military helicopter has no repair option (dayz spawns vehicles with defective items S) Fixed this by Replacing the military helicopter with a AH6 (Littlebird) armed (no wheels, should have repair option, else > UH1H_DZ) 3) The Civillian chopper cannot be repaired (no repair option) S) Fixed this by replacing the civiliian chopper with an unarmed AH6 littlebird (has repair option) 4) The Tunnel-in-a-tunnel in underground barracks is a garranteed legbreaker when used to travel back up S) place a sign 'Dont enter without morphine' ? :P 5) The big buildings in Vorkuta where u can acces the roof if you logout proned on the roof, you endup swimming halfway inside the building after logging inn again :)

    To be fair the SUV sucks, because its too fast on road it's an accident waiting to happen, I gave up on it simply because of that. (not in zombie loot, never in industrial buildings) Walking in the bright sun without a headwear can get you sunstroke. Wearing very warm clothes can make you even more fatigue and have a sunstroke. Running causes more fatigue. Autmatic weapons get overheated more and jam more frequently. Foraging is not very effective, plants are dried. Transport gets overheated and can have engine damage if driven at more than 40-60kmh speed. Players stay mainly in shadow, in the forests, water sources become vital for survival. UPDATED: "Cold" season ... +Vehicles are consuming more fuel and take much more time to start the engine. +Air transport is having icing problems and is not recommended to fly.

    Name: Trilby Ash Age: Seventeen years young. I have both Skype and TS3, no problems there. I'm fairly experienced, I'd probably be best at being a Spotter/Medic. I like sniping, but i'm sure these guys are better than myself. xD Just to say, my specialties lie in navigation, transportation and extractions. And I guess being used as live bait too. :3 I've had lots of experience and practice with Helicopters, as well as land based vehicles. (Had a boat once, didn't do -too- bad with it.)   18. This feature is a part of a collection of features about "How to make DayZ harder" Idea Once in some 2-3 month or less\more often a randomly choosen season goes in effect on the server. Lasts for a week. Makes random unpredictable changes in server balancing and surviving aspect\methods Safety is only for those, who know how to survive in any particular season, but this comes with experience Every season has a slight, subtle visual hint in the game, atmospheric change, air thinkening, colour effects to reflect a bit to the nature of a season. Very delicate and subtle effects, tweaks, but noticable when sought. And this visual, atmospheric change is happening the day before the season starts. So those who knows what's coming after this SIGN can get ready a bit and survive better. "Hunger" season Visual clue\effect: Game seems a bit greyish, wind sound can change, overall atmosphere is a bit depressing Food and drink loot is getting rare. Stops appearing as loot in zombies. Never spawns in industrial buildings, only in personal dwellings, but very rare too. Doesn't affect animals, so meat and huning becomes the main survival aspect. People are driven out of settlements into the woods for hunt. "Cease fire" season The same as above, but the ammo gets rare. Spawns only at police stations, fire stations and military sites. Shooting becomes very very expensive. Melee and reusable weapons (arrows) get a value. Cities and military sites become even more dangerous for those seeking firepower. "Zombie infestation" season Visual clue\effect: Zombies produce different sounds, more howling, slightly more crazy sounds Zombie spawn doubles. Zombies invade forests too. "Cold" season Visual clue\effect: Rain is enough, but a vague blue tone can be added to the atmosphere. Overall weather is much worse. Rains are constant. Almost no sunshine. Temperatures are much lower. Day is shorter. Night is extremely cold and requires a shelter. Infections spread easily. Requires warming up often. Heatpacks and campfires get value. Players seek shelter - more value to houses. Warm clothing and medicine get value too. +Vehicles are consuming more fuel and take much more time to start the engine. +Air transport is having icing problems and is not recommended to fly. "Epidemy" season Visual clue\effect: Same as hunger is enough One infection is randomly chosen. Zombie melee attack has very great risk of infecting a victim with this infection. Lower temperatures cause having this infection more often. "Epizootic" season Visual clue\effect: Animals produce different sounds, a bit more of yelping of dogs, birds cry louder, wolves howl Animals are very rare. Those present have chance of infecting you after consuming their meat. Predators are more agressive and can infect you after attack. "Dead coast" season Player spawn locations are moved to northern mountains. "Fire" season Visual clue\effect: Everyithing gets slightly yellowish, sun is a bit more brighter, almost no wind or very occasional Extreme hot temperatures Thirst appears much faster.   19. It's possible that a hacker took your vehicles. a hacker moved most of the vehicles in my server without repairing them.
  20. Create loot points that are not just random ground drops. Boxes, crates, tarps, bins, furneture, trunks on vehicles, trash heap, and anything else could be considered holding something of value. In doing this, you can control the spawn of items in a better way. Less air born spawns. Also, spawns can be controled better, thus when an individual enters an area they can see different spawn items as the spawn that drops in the spawn points is to them and not others. I'm not saying items dropped on the ground should be totally removed. Just some new style of item spawns might be added to the game. SO you can rumage through a car trunk or various places to find items not so obviously out in the open. As for military spawns. Lockboxes, vaults, and other harder to get into item spawn holders might be introduced. Giving a more challanging way to get those higher end items. Some of these could contain traps or security safe guards. making it harder to just run up and grab that AS50 or other higher end items. these are just thoughts to consider. Not end product ideas.   21. So I logged onto a community hive server for the first time in ages. Arrive on Cherno beach, some guy turns up on a motorcycle and doesn't shoot me in the face?! I get on the back of his bike and he takes me on a coastal tour, I thank him for this by stealing his bike and getting chased by two guys in some eastern european police car, neither of which shoot me?!?! A little later I get picked up in a SUV by another guy, who doesn't shoot me in the face??! What the fuck is going on? Vehicles everywhere, people not killing me on sight? I've fucking had it with this game.

Experimence (How long you play, and what you've done so far): i m one of the first dayZ players ,sorry don t know when ; i try too survive ;) also play with friends and search for vehicles ,went up north and back now wald at the coast and loot cherno 3.     Name, Age, Location: Frank, 15, Hungary (I'm half Hungarian half Australian, so my English is very good) Experience: Playing for about 3 months, mostly as a lone wolf, trying to make friends in game hasn't exactly gone swimmingly Preferred role: Assault would be most comfortable, but happy to play as an Engineer or Medic aswell Skype: Chaerea2145 Why pick me? I'm an experienced player who will be trustworthy and selfless in a group, prepared to do what it takes in a squad, and hopefully have some laughs along the way :D Type of player: Hero/Survivor- I don't shoot anyone without a weapon, instead I'll talk to them and help them find one. They're usually pretty grateful, and haven't been betrayed by someone like that yet. The only people I shoot on sight are snipers preying on new spawns, and anyone with a gun that has seen me. Activity: 0-2 hours on a weekday, 1-4 hours on weekend days Personal: Atm I have a tent stash up north full of cool stuff, and would really like to join up in a group, so far mostly playing lone wolf and getting tired by the loneliness of it. I won't be an asshole to the group, or other players that don't pose a threat, and if that's the direction the group is headed, I will leave. Would be really fun to find some vehicles though :D
