Clearly It completely deserved a TROLOL post from the chive, from the sarcastic mocking wordplay used to change my words into your interpretation of what you think im posting about. Did you even read it? It is a complete mockery of ALL facts stated in the thread. I dont even think you read the thread because if you look at the facts so far of the type of populated server I play on, along side the other small factors of knowing certain vehicle spawns and character traffic on the server, you would have some understanding where Im coming from. I am looking to gain guidance from other peoples experiences with disappearing vehicles, and maybe some understanding from the admin side of things since I dont know what kind of things a server owner\admin can and cannot do. I am not looking to hear the same fucktard response that "Oh your stuff can always be found especially a helicopter, your a nub, blah blah" That is why I had originally stopped responding to the thread realizing that I wasnt going to get what I was looking for, and until that ignorant response had done so.

  5. Bumping as higher tier military vehicles with gear are now randomly spawned around the map in military zones! I.E. Vodniks, Humvees, Armored Technicals (PK Pickups and Special Ops Trucks)

    And here we see just how mature you are. You respond to a legitimate post by calling its author "ignorant" and a "troll" just to diminish the point they are making, without even really saying anything. Well allow me to put personal matters aside for a moment and just look at facts (facts that have already been stated in this thread): Helicopters are impossible to hide from hackers just like everything else, but also incredibly difficult to hide from players who use legitimate methods to look for helicopters. This includes using multiple people to check a larger area (canvassing), using another helicopter to search for yours due to how trees and other obstructions render at further distances and certain angles, and checking areas where choppers are more likely to be based on others already putting their vehicles there. I think I should add that you STILL have not told us where you had put the chopper so we could tell you whether it was a good place or not. I'm thinking that you probably put it on the edge of the map in the woods thinking it was a spectacular hiding place and NO ONE would ever find it. If you did that, then just know that that is a terrible place to put it. In fact, just about any place is a terrible place to put it due to the fact that players roam through many areas of the map all the time, either because it is along the path between two points of interest, or because it is far away from those as to be an expected place to not be found (ironic, I know). So basically what I'm trying to say is if you lost your chopper, You can come to the forums to complain about it, but when people try to give you legitimate tips and constructive criticism you shouldn't deny any of their help at all like a child would because your pride is hurt. Also, if you really want help you'll tell us where you put it, but I would understand if you didn't want to do that for secrecy reasons (even though we don't know what server you play on).   8. Now that we've finally got a handle on the stupid DDoS problems we've had some time to actually work on new features. Today I'm happy to announce a couple new features, Live map tool updates! - Now any changes you make using the web map tool will now happen in-game immediately without requiring a server restart. Below are some examples of this. There are some caveats: These changes require you to revert to default pbo's to enable. You can see the changes we made if you extract the default pbo and compare them. We will post a writeup on exactly what's changed in the wiki later.It only works on DayZ 1.8 and DayZ Epoch right now, we are working on adding additional maps - Overwatch will be next.Anytime you perform an admin action on the map there will be a global message in-game telling everyone what action was performed - this is to combat admin abuse.We hope to be bringing you guys more new features in the near future since we finally have some free time to work on other things.

    Ability to remove firing pin

    Sorry I missed that post. But if it could be reattached by anyone, and it wouldn't be separate from the gun, then what's the point? A player would just pick up a gun and automatically check the firing pin, and then fix it. It's like saying "all vehicles should have keys. But those keys would always be inside the vehicle. You'd just have to select an action from the menu to use the key." I do think weapons should have safeties though. Many times I have accidentally hit my mouse button and fired my gun.

    Strangely enough the private servers that saved the mod also led to it being overrun with custom loadouts, millions of vehicles and versions of DayZ which are a million miles from the original concept.

    How Large is a "Largewall"?

    Hey now... the base building in Epoch is a refreshing change. The only indestructible thing there are the safes so very little is actually "safe". There are only a few extra guns in vanilla Epoch and there "should be" the same amount of random vehicles but since they are all private servers you can find ones that are really bad and others that are really good. The one thing I don't like is that Armored SUVs can random spawn but I am going to be going through the vehicle list someday soon on my own server and eliminating the most game breaking vehicles. I am somewhat tempted to limit everything to unarmed/civilian vehicles.

  18. what 'end game' needs is the ability to erect barbwire (or electric) fence perimeters around small areas to use as bases in the woods. a compound large enough to land a heli and park a car or two. a compound with a gated entrance that requires a key ( that can be looted). It wont prevent people from shooting vehicles (inside bases) for giggles, but they wont be able to steal them.
  19. I never managed to keep a helicopter for long for few days on low pop servers. It doesn't matter how good you hide them, some kid with a maphack will find them anyway. Just don't get attached to your vehicles.

If you think you can hide anything, or that someone won't stumble across a vehicle after a few days you're kidding yourself and that's on a map the size of cherno - lmao @ namalsk - it's fucking tiny! Not only do me and a mate run along the map edge fairly frequently, but others are doing it to and vehicles stick out like a sore thumb - especially from the air where forests become a brown blob on the ground which ALL vehicles stand out. People might use a hack but really, on a populated server you vehicle will be found - there are no hiding spots (and personally, I'd remove the chopper from the game - they can't fix the issue with the way forests render and make it OP but they keep the chooper in - that to me seems brainless.)

    Public Hive DB errors again.

    I think something must have been done on the public hive DB since some tents disappeared from the server, but the problem still persists. I still see the hive db server dropping connections in the logs. I tested setting up a new tent and moving items from an existing tent into the new tent. After a server restart, the new tent was empty and the items were back in the first tent. Vehicles still do not save positions either. After a restart they continue to return to their spawn points.
  22. In what way would having a older version of dayz that is bug fixed make everything so much different ? The pvp would still be the same, admins could still tweak there servers to add helicopters and stuff and still let people pay to win by donating to there server....admins can still abuse there powers to check locations on people and vehicles and stuff and spawn themselves things. One of the reasons dayz was so good when first released was because it was new....not only was dayz new but the arma engine itself was new to people that only bought arma2 to play dayz mod and mods alike. So when these new players first experienced arma+dayz mod ...team play was a big element not because of any benefits it added but purely because people where all sharing info with each other on how to play the game ...for example: New player runs into a even newer player ...new player tells the newer player there's a weapon at a certain location and that he can have it ....one thing leads to another and they end up teaming up to explore and have fun (games are more fun with several people right!) What happens next is after time progressed these players learned the meta game and nothing is new and they don't need/want to team up with anyone (random people at least) as they know everything they need to know...then boredom kicks in because they know the meta game so nothing is new and they decide to pvp to have some fun. Pvp then led to people shooting anyone just for the sake of it and in turn made other people kos players out of fear of also being kos'd or simply to join in on the fun. So teaming up with people is hard now so many although they want to team up they decide against it as they would rather kos others than be kos'd time after time because of trying to talk to a random guy that then kills him. People started downloading new maps to try get a "new" experience of exploring the map and teaming up again (although pvp was still hugely there in these new maps there was a big increase of people that did want to team up and explore the new map) but as it was only a map that new experience didn't last long and then pvp kicks into the kos stage again. You will not get that old experience back that you first had when you played dayz....its pointless even chasing it even when SA is released, after you experience the content it will become old and although you may have got a taste of that old experience you are chasing you'll not get close to fully experiencing it again. No older version or newer version of dayz will give you it.
  23. When I am taking a wander on my server I like to vandalise shit. If I come across any vehicles in perfect working order I use my machete to slash the tyres. Once, I came across a camp with 7 vehicles and 4 tents FULL of loot. I slashed all the tyres, emptied all the weapons and supplies into the tents and then burnt them. I am actually quite proud of this :blush:

    So far you haven't mentioned which particular server. So that should mean you're safe to say whereabouts you hid it. Tell us that and let's see what posters think of it as a hiding place. If you left it around debug either north or west players scour these areas. Also, as you stated regarding other items nearby were these out of sight from the helicopter? It's been said already finding someones heli, you take it and get out of there. Final thing...people are acting as if vehicles belong to them. They're an asset in a game and should be fought over/stolen. If the apocalypse dropped tomorrow you'd be eyeing up a nearby tough 4x4 vehicle over your 1 litre Nissan Micra
  25. I bet 75%+ of the dayz population doesnt even know how to fly a chopper. If you play on a server long enough you see the traffic of players come in and out. As a server admin I figured youd know that. You would be able to tell very quickly which groups of people even had the capability of having certain vehicles in their possesion. And if anyone outside of those people did have it they were extremely lucky, and if any of those extremely lucky people knew how to fly a chopper then even luckier. On a lower populated server there is only so much luck someone can have, finding vehicles in the middle of nowhere when you have no vehicle to do so? I honestly am trying to believe that it was a "random" find but there is just no possible way it adds up.
