    it's almost impossible to find a server without self bloodbag at the moment, at least in my neck of the woods. utter pain in the ass. playing without means most of the time you're never on full health, making everything more of a worry, and it's great. it's pretty frustrating how to even get a playerbase as a new australian server, you have to include extra barracks/buildings, 500+ vehicles, self bloodbag and a gun. I know modding is a great thing, but looking at how it's been detrimental at least to my game as a whole, i find it hard to justify. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/149928-dayz-mod-1803-hotfix/page-3?hl=+self%20+blood as said here, they're going to add it in at some point, but it looks like they're going to make it difficult, so hopefully that could be a solution. it's pretty mentality destroying with it as a mod, but if the devs change the way bloodbags work, hopefully it wouldn't be such an easy procedure.
  2. The problem with that is it kinda defeats the purpose of fuel being super-rare and sort of begs the question of why the vehicle was abandoned in the first place? If it still had fuel, it could still go places. Maybe if vehicles with fuel in them showed up at the military areas, but were conversely shot to shit. I.E. People trying to escape the infected end up running afoul of military roadblocks and get killed by the soldiers, leaving their vehicles and supplies in broken-down cars on the roadside. It's just, if fuel is too easy to find, then it defeats the purpose of increasing the vehicle count and making fuel a super-rare resource. And having even one in ten cars have fuel in them would be too much.

    That's a bad way to go about it.. Then seeing 10 heads would not be as scary because you know an entire clan had to do it... Seeing 10 heads without that kind of context is just frightening... Here's my idea :: Maybe the head is like a pet or something and you have to feed it and shit. Nah that's stupid as hell but interacting with the head somehow would let the server be able to pick out the heads that are just there between the heads that someone actually is trying to keep.. Like maybe you have to scare crows off of the heads and the server detects if crows are still on the head before restart and if they are, the head is removed upon restart. But that does still sound like a chore to do especially for travelers without vehicles... Maybe after an entire day the heads disappear if they aren't tended to from crows... Also being able to plant the heads on cars would be badass.
  4. ^ post above me 100% correct you can very easily change your settings in the profile to say TheDevilDogGamer in the Arma settings this sounds more like "OMG WE GOT LIKE START WITH AS50 AND PDW WE GOT VEHICLES" so basically what everyone else has said.

  9. Hello all, its been a while. Anyway, i thought that after a few months of playing other mods and other games, i'd jump back into vanilla dayz, had a look at the 1.8 patch notes and noticed alot of annoying issues fixed. Eating in vehicles, changing to pilot seat in the chopper etc. However, despite all these welcome changes, there is one addition which I believe has destroyed what made dayz so unique. The new military loot spawns. So I load into cherno, start moving through town and pick up an enfield. Usually i'd be pretty happy to find an enfeild with ammo in cherno on a decent pop server. I then decide to check the fire station. Found an M14 with 3 mags. I mean, what? An m14..... in cherno? A 7.62 cal rifle? A weapon that deals the highest damage per shot in the game? Equal to that of all snipers and some LMG's? In cherno? What? So i did some digging and looked at the dayz db. I then discovered that fire stations are now equivalent to barracks at NWAF. Great. So now there really is no reason to leave the coast. No reason to risk a trip to the hotspots on the map, I mean why bother when you can reach endgame without leaving cherno? So I played around a bit with the m14, going berserker etc. Every single person I came across was armed with high tier mill loot. No winnie's or enfields. Bambi's with starter backpacks with M4's. All varying in make, from a normal m4a1, to an A3 or SD. With the occasional DMR from a rooftop. why? Did people get sick of having to go north to get good gear? Were people whining on here about guns being too hard to find? Iv been out of the loop for a while, Im not QQing here, or screaming at the devs or anything. I just want someone to tell me why they've done this. Am i the only one here that thinks this has broken what dayz used to be?

They are yours to customize anyway you choose. All files are easily editable through the control panel or FTP. This gives you the power to customize all aspects of your server. Server File Access Along with this you have unrestricted access to all server source files needed to customize your server. The 2 major files being the dayz_server.pbo and mission.pbo. Although almost all other files are available for you to tweak. All server files exist on the server in a decompiled state.     Today is a sad day for me

    Seriously, the whole map will be a safezone, no one can steal or damage your vehicles, and you have to turn pvp ON to shoot other players even when you're in pvp spots. Everyone gets a chopper at spawn and we got rid of that whole infection/sickness thing entirely. Now you just have to press the spacebar once in a while so your character doesn't take a nap. edit: You can now build barracks with barbed wire and tin cans.

    Pad locks for the moment, not much you can use locks on that make sense, maybe if they add stashboxes you could set up at your camp or something combination locks shooting secondary weapons from driver seat of vehicles Last I heard something in the Arma Engine prevents shooting from vehicles ala GTA/Saints Row, weapons have to be mounted to the vehicle shooting primary or secondary from passengers seat dormant zombies that sit in buildings and cars that get up and attack when you are near could add to the game, would mostly be jumpscares or lead to people 'double tapping' bodies, which isn't a bad thing knife, hatchet, and machete assassinations I assume you mean 'press R3 for instant kill' assassinations, dont really like the sound of that car keys for cars that u find on dormant zombies near that car been discussed many times in different ways hot wiring kit IRL there's no 'kits' for hotwireing, depending on how old the car is you could simply rip open the cowl from the steering colum, rip wires and strip them with your teeth, and cross the wires that way police stations think this has been added to Chenarus + but not sure, might have just been a jail ​subway/ sower system environments to play in something Rocket wanted to do, haven't heard much else about them deer Think they've been added or are on the agenda so to speak
  16. It's never specified how long DayZ occurs after the apocalypse. Obviously it's been at least a few weeks, but that could be just it, only a few weeks. I'd think that some vehicles would still have small amounts of fuel left, but at the same time being damaged. Also, not every vehicle should be orange, there could be the rare chance of finding well-preserved vehicles. Inside of garages or hangars, they aren't nearly as exposed to the weather and would likely be in better condition. I just don't think that using completely blank words like every or none work well.
  17. I think this is another one of those things we should 'turn a blind eye to'. Sure, old fuel in a rusty tank would probably end up damaging your engine or entirely useless, but in the name of 'fun' and 'gameplay' we should ignore that. In the SA players should be able to go around and siphon fuel from vehicles, with varying results, but as the vehicles are mostly in visible places such as highways it would draw a lot of attention. Perhaps it would encourage playing at night?
  18. Before we go ANY further, I'd like to point out that I'm NOT talking about the Alpha, I'm talking months after release into the beta and/or full release. Now that that's out of the way, I'd like to use this thread as a discussion of what you personally think will make or break standalone as a game, mainly feature-wise. Feel free to post your own lists and give feedback or criticism on others lists (constructive). Here's mine: Make: (Semi-)Intelligent Zombie AIZombies aren't supposed to be 'smart' technically speaking, they're undead corpses. However, zombies in the mod are arguably worthless and agreeably annoying. I stopped being actually scared by zombies a week or two after I started playing the mod. What I think would make the standalone oh so much sweeter to play, would be a total revamp of how zombies work. Give them a hive mentality (if on zombie catches on to you, others do as well), give them more bodily endurance (lean more towards traditional zombie headshots to kill), and buff their damage so that people DON'T have the chance to survive an all out horde attacking them. For far too long have we dealt with pathetic zombies that seem to be in the mod merely to add the Z to DayZ. Yes, I know that zombies ARE being worked on in SA... obviously. Pathing, attacking, and functionality will all be different, but the way it is handled I think will either make or break the Standalone. Rag-doll EffectsYes, rag-doll effects. IMHO it's a crucial element of us having an immersive experience. How many times do you see someone get shot in the head and just fall all silly like? Or the ever hilarious zombie deaths that look like bad acting in a Shakespearean play. This is a 2013/2014 game, rag-doll effects are crucial and the technology has been here for years now. Who could ever disagree with something like this? A serious Health/Crafting systemThis is probably one of the most important things on the list. We HAVE to have something realistic. The mod doesn't do too bad when it comes to getting shot, damage is relative to area. But now that we have a separate engine aside from Arma II, I really hope it'll go much more in depth. Same going with food and drink. Hopefully the devs will make it more realistic. Who actually (and realistically) needs to drink and eat every half hour??? Make food and drink less common, and increase the time in-between when you need to perform such actions to survive. As for crafting... it's pretty self explanatory. Knives attached to guns with the option to use them as a melee weapon on zombies or players, flashlights on any gun, modifying vehicles, all of that. You know all those games that say that they have an amazing crafting system, and then you can't put anything on anything and it's impossible to figure out what to put on what? Don't let this be one of those... let it be simple and easy, but at the same time unforgiving with downsides. Character Value/DegradationThis is a tough one. How to add value to a character without adding an elaborate (and unwanted) skill system. This one is gonna be totally up to the devs as to what is done. Item and clothing degradation will hopefully be done with some leeway towards the user. Whatever is done, we really need to see more focus on the character themselves instead of what they're holding or wearing. Break: Dealing with the same bugs as in the modThis is what the Alpha is for, grinding and polishing. Not a whole lot to be said in this case other than hopefully all the kinks will be SWIFTLY handled. Heavy Focus on PvPThe most obvious one on here. It's the thing that destroyed the original feeling of the mod, and it's what will destroy the atmosphere of the Standalone if something isn't done to quell it. DayZ wasn't meant to be solely player on player, it was meant for people to have interactions and survive their environment (by also killing each other, but not for sport). Lack of post-apocalyptic feelRoads should be cracked, buildings should have moss on them, rooms and walls having blood and trash strewn across them. It just won't feel like being in an apocalypse if it doesn't look like it's one. Nobody is there to maintain anything after all. A Bad Base Building SystemTents.... God awful tents... Nobody ever should have to use a tent to store anything ever again... That's all from me for now. Feel free to share your lists or criticisms. I know many of these things have already been addressed and even confirmed, but this is not a "will it be there?" list, this is just a discussion of what you hope will be in the game, and what would make you want or not want to play it.

So our Group of friends have recently bought a Epoch server and we need people to join it and so i though I would start here here is the descripition of our Server We have recently set up a server, AI mission's that are hard and have good loot, a good varying selection of Vehicles over 250+, We are the admins so we are regularly on, we have our own TS address if you wish to contact us, we have custom Anti hack scripts, fully working admin tools and traders, Tanks, Jets, Apache Helicopters, Anti Aircraft and Tank and a Extremely large section of Weapons up for use if you wish to do some recording etc. IP FOR SERVER: 159.253.149.54:3051 TS ADDRESS IS ON THERE!   20. Hello there! I am 16 and I am looking for a EU based Epoch clan. I'm not into Taviana so I'd like to play on a Chernarus map. I prefer playing on a private hive without 1000 vehicles/instant repair/barracks everywhere. I speak fluent English and I have a teamspeak that we can use (40slot). I have a lot of experience with arma 2 (200 hours) and DayZ (400-500hours). I prefer using a long range weapon as I hate CQC as it is broken on arma 2. Send me a message if you want to have a chat!

    Yup, US 3533 has had double vehicles for as long as I can remember, and I always thought the admin had somehow done this on purpose. There have been quite a few times where they spawn inside each other, resulting in massive explosions whenever I tried moving them. I guess this really is a bug. Anyway, this all makes sense now.     Answered your own question there. You do not have access to them, as those informations aren't stored on your server. Would be too easy to manipulate like in your case where you're trying to do it as well. There's a reason noone has access to it. Nein. Because it's bugged. Some servers simply have really exactly doubled amounts of vehicles, as they spawn inside each other. An old ARMA-problem as far as I'm aware.
  23. UPDATE TIME!!!! I just added another new feature to the Sanctum!! In case a leveling system, 900+ new weapons, 100+ new vehicles, 30+ new skins, setting tents on fire, stripping vehicles for parts, a 100% custom loot table, AI, and more wasn't enough. There is now a mission system added to the server. Random missions will be generated at random times for Survivors to take a chance to complete to receive the rewards at the end. Weapon crates are created with some nice loot (still modifying further) as the reward! If you haven't taken the time to check it out, it truly is worth the effort to download rmod2.1 and SoC Mod!     Limited Climbing Ability(as average people can do)

    If their brain were gone they would be dead. I would rather see the zeds as humans in a rabid like state. No social skills whatsoever, the only emotion they know is hatred towards the living ( maybe because they are different? ). Basic skillsso to speak. I don't see anything stopping them from doing what we do expect manipulating complex things like weapons, vehicles and other things like f.e. bandaging. Firing would not be a problem, even a monkey can fire a gun when he pulls the trigger but i can hardly believe you can tell them how to point a gun at a target and hit it.
