    My Last Rant

I usually don't reply (to anything) but, today only, i feel empathy for this type of rant. OP, I understand your frustration. I've experienced the same feelings when i first started playing the DayZ mod back in August of 2012. I was hooked on the potential of Dean's vision hook, line, and sinker. I began honing my skills as a lone wolf, stalking the northern rim from Lopatino to Krastnostav and back, using Poebda to stay hydrated. I avoided everyone I saw and shot at everyone who saw me; win some, lose some. It became a morbid existence. It was about 2 months of hyper-paranoia and hermitdom until I was confronted with my first unicorn. When I saw my first Hero I instantly realized what I wanted to be when I grew up. Coyote backpack full of precious life. Gifts given as if they were leftover fruit, the owner not wanting them to spoil. He gave me a canteen 2 steaks, my first CCO SD (didn't last long), saluted, and bid me good luck. I began blood-bagging everyone in sight. If they asked, If they didn't ask. I joined many people, offering battlefield triage to squads, gangs, spouses, lone wolves, anyone who asked for assistance in Side, Hero, Bandit-it didnt matter. I wanted my (plaid) stripes, and nothing was going to stop me. I achieved my goal (and then some) but I learned a few valuable lessons along the way. Disclaimer: I realize everyone has a different playstyle, and I am only sharing the small corner of knowledge my humble adventures have accumulated using a similar playstyle to what OP is attempting. 1. Heroes die. All the time. As a matter of fact, when you play as a Hero expect to die. 100%. If you've watched movies, you know when the hero is going to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Hopefully, you look bad-ass and get to take a few bad guys with you sometimes. 2. People are asshats. I've been lured in, satchel charged, sniped, mowed down, betrayed in Shakespearean epics of deceit, sacrificed to the blood god, more times than I can count. If you can think of it, someone can think of something worse. Keep this in mind when you initiate a dialogue with a stranger toting a fireaxe. 3. Don't be "nice". What is hard about being nice is that it expects reciprocation. People can be offended if the sentiment isn't reflected. The thing about being nice is it can be interpreted as weakness, which is a big no-no in survival-of-the-fittest Chernarus. You have to be positive instead. Being positive allows you to be "nice" but remain in control of the situation without showing weakness. You can maintain a commanding tone without sounding like a scared child or a shithead. 4. Your actions are essentially contributing to the larger sum of an idea: There is good in Chernarus. You are part of it, but don't get confused. The price your good deeds will bring is vulnerability. You have to be willing sacrifice everything, literally everything, every time you say "Hello" to someone. Don't expect them to be nice. Don't expect to live. But, by all means, DO enjoy the ride. It will get better as time progresses. More zombies. VEHICLES. The thing is: People are going to act the same no matter how many awesome features Dean throws in here. Come to terms with the potential consequences of your actions or this place will beat any remaining fuks you still have to give right out of you.

  4. In the mod people stayed with one (or 2) servers because of vehicles and tents. So this server hopping will die down in a while. It won't be different to what it was it was in the mod. No one complained except about script cheats. 30 sec log would discourage ghosting, or make it a possible disadvantage to try to ghost in a fight, instead of only an unfair advantage. That's good. The 'no combat log' worked well in the mod for what it was designed to do, except it glitched sometimes. A 30 sec log out would be great if you could press "log out" and leave the game after 30 secs as long as you did not do anything. If you do an action to countermand the logout, you're back in the game - this gives you a chance to react if something happens, or at least you know why you died. So sitting down to log out is not a bad idea, you can still see what's happening but not do anything, and you have 30 seconds to change your mind about logging, till the timer runs out. pilgrim
  5. private servers with shite easymode mods - 1000 vehicles, spawn with gun etc. Everyone saying "don't play those servers", go fuck yourselves, at the end of the mods life i could not find a single private server not running some variation of that formula. Because that's how private servers pay for themselves, they get donations for being shit. I don't think dean will cave, he's probably already funded his game, so unless he decides to leave or is taken off i'm not worried about that. Besides, i haven't seen any evidence that the game is going casual. zombies are broken, but because the dev team hasn't made any statements regarding where they want zombies to go it's a little silly to worry either way. We're either getting hard zombies in fewer numbers, or easy zombies in horde mode. I'd like horde mode but 20 or so viciously dangerous fast zombies in a small town would be fine aswell. It doesn't matter as long as they're a definite threat. People are saying "they should do ect before respawning zombies", well that can be worked on while they make sure the server is running steadily off the number of zombies can't it? we're playing an alpha that says "do not buy" we signed up to be fucked with. The environment is gonna be hard. Think about it, at the moment you go to a ditch and drink 25x water, if the water is contaminated, how are you gonna do that without getting sick every time? Without being able to drink all the water you like, how are you going to regen your health so easy? idk, i might be reading too much into it, but the groundwork is all there, a few more additions and suddenly we're all dying of diarrhea.
  6. main worry admin abuse server tools when in showing people live 24/7 next is the amount of people who want everything now. i myself dont mind waiting but alot want vehicles today and everything else today not in 6 months or yr. often the next response after telling them its within 6 months is fuck this im off back to the mod ! im loving playing the game at the moment its fresh no abuse from admins and its just me and my skills keep ing me alive. lets keep it this way just ad more content thats good and well be golden ! :)

Read first before you complain about other players

Consider DayZ with friendly-fire disabled. ... ... ... Now that that's sunk in, I hope you realize how fucking boring the game would be. There are what, a handful of zombies in the towns after a server restart? Maybe two handfuls in the cities? You don't even need to attack zombies. I've mentioned before that I've had half a dozen zombies following me around a village while I looted the houses. They were following me the entire time in all of their clipping-through-walls, waiting-two-seconds-before-they-swing-at-you glory. Just keep strafing left and right around them and they cannot hit you. THE ONLY THING THAT WILL KEEP A GAME LIKE DAYZ INTERESTING IS THE POTENTIAL PLAYER-VERSUS-PLAYER COMBAT. Even after vehicles. Even after bases. It doesn't matter. Vehicles will allow you to kill more players faster, if you so choose. Bases will allow you to quickly restock your character after a death. OP is correct. The adrenaline rush comes from the potential of other people killing you. /thread

    suggestions on multiple topics

here are some simple suggestions i thought about and think they could be really good for the game. 1. i think the new logging system is shit. making you unable to move/act anymore if you click log out is just retarded. think about you log off in an area where you THINK you are safe but then a player pops up at the horizon and just farms you because you are unable to move/react. im not talking about combat log especially. you should be able to exit the log out timer and your characters paralysis if you move, pull out a weaon or interact with items, furthermore you should be able to look around with your camera and move items in your inventory. also the timer should be 60 seconds and the character enters this F3 sitting/resting stance. 2. 3PP should be removed 4. day night cycles. make a whole cycle shorter, like 32 hours ingame are 48 reality hours, so if you log on you always get a different daytime. this would add a lot of more variety into the game. the night should be brighter, right now its just fucking dark, way too dark. brighten it up a bit by making the moon and stars shine more. incluiding abusing gamma fix 4.''telescope'' eyes. replace that crazy zoom -right mouse click- with binoculars, right now it makes me feel like a robocop and is also abusive as fuck 5.sprinting, im talking about double tap W with or without fists up. limit the time you are sprinting like 20 seconds sprinting, then a regeneration time where you are only able to run normal or walk. it will make the world feel so much bigger and realistic. once vehicles are in there should also be a proper weight/energy system. 6. zombies. make them way more dangerous, but not more in numbers. then, if they hear a shot in a city they all run in the roundabout direction, for a good time, where the shot came from. this will make the player be more careful with guns in cities and affect the annoying pvp kos everybody is doing. you will think twice if you want to shoot someone by risking a bunch of zombies chasing you and rather interact with the player. ammo should be more rare 7.server changing. im not sure if this could work. but could it be possible that if you change a server(not relogging, or after a dc/freeze) you spawn in a spawning zone in the middle of nowhere, fairly away from everything, but not too far away. currently thinking about black forrest or the area north to kamyshowo. there are also a lot of trees to avoid getting camped too easy when changing servers. once every 30 min you should be able to log into another server without getting spawned in this zone, also if you join a friends server but only if you are close to him. 8. character. make him more worth, like if you sprint a lot, he can sprint slightly longer, if he is starving long times, he should be able to survive longer without food and so on. not huge gamebraking effects but good enough to make them noticeable thoughts?
  10. you cant receive anymore messages by pm and your always on do not poke when i join your ts so i decided to post here i have recently set up a dayz epoch server and while i have been able to install a few plugins up until now i would like to now have alot more on my server to attract more players. side missions debug monitor admintools (infistar admintools/antihack or bluepheonix admin tools, both would be great!) tow/lift bury body self bloodbag suicide safezones auto refuel Air dropped care packages (Bi plane) take clothes burn tents Ai bus route suicide Animated C130 Crashes Animated heli Crashes fast roping evac chopper master key death messages Inland Sector FNG No voice on sidechat base building 1.2 + improvements zombie bait building snapping taunt zombie Indestructable Bases Cant tow/lift locked vehicles No Maintence for bases crafting and a way to spawn in a vehicle that dosent despawn after restart please pm me if you can help thanks The TRR Guys
  11. See you in a few months.. maybe. Its going to take some time for those things to happen. I personally don't care about the vehicles/bases atm. Sure, I'd love to see them added ASAP, but there are other priorities besides faster modes of travel and bases to be worked on. All in due time.. patience! ;)
  12. I'd personally suggest "Hardcore servers" for fair game-play. Regular servers are basically for those who want to exploit the 3rd person camera and stay on 24/7 day servers. * I would not be surprised once vehicles are added, we will see 4,000 vehicle servers. <- "Just like the classic mod"
  13. Go Away. You too. Who cares if you lose your character, go loot more and get geared up, there are plenty of warnings telling you that would happen. Before you bought the game even! Anyone who has paid attention to the dev process knows that there will be no base building or vehicles for a long time. See you in a year! It's not bugged. I have woken up from quite a few unconscious screens, fix the reason for going unconscious, and you wake up. Crazy right?
  14. I have 140hrs into this mod and ive lost my char about 10 times now through server crap, issues, bugs etc. I like the game but will not be playing until some major updates have been made like base building and maybe vehicles.
  15. Just give me bikes and unicycles and I'll be happy (as far as vehicles go anyway, not that I'm in any rush)

Bambi care package drops (player driven)

I doubt highly that any vehicles will be 'sat there' in perfect working order, waiting for a player to stumble across. We are provided with no back story, if a brother wants to spend his time getting vehicles in working order and gathering supplies so he can make his own story up, then fair play to the lad...
  17. Exactly. I'm so tired of this complaint, but it pales in comparison to the complain that will come once vehicles are implemented. Then it will be "Oh god, there's NO parts, it took three hours to fix and then I died.... blah. blah. BLAH."

    Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557

Lovely text size. Looks like you're overcompensating for something to me. Anyway, thanks for the insult. But vehicles are important, and they're more important than nearly all of the items they're making at the moment to players. Even a basic, unrefined vehicle addition will do wonders for gameplay, which is why it would be excellent if they could just skip the fancy physics, collision smash damage models, 80 colour variants etc and just add that later, like the other cosmetics that can wait. Generally, your statement makes little sense. What I gathered was: Developers are adding content to get ready for beta. Adding content is bad because it generates bugs, so we save those for beta. However, your statement doesn't come into line with what the devs are actually doing: Working on bugs, adding content and working on content bugs is exactly what they're doing now! So where exactly is your point? Also, remember to spell correctly if you're going to jack the font up to over 9000. *comes
  19. Just to add in my 2 cents... I could care less about vehicles. If the development team said... "We've made a big decision and have decided to not add any vehicles in DayZ SA now or in the future", I'd be perfectly fine with that. Maybe even a little happy. With the speed of running what it is... I feel I get around quite quickly. I can easily get down to the coast to meet a friend even when I'm up at NW. I'm not frustrated by running around in the slightest.

    Where is going Dayz ?

All the weird combat things you mentioned are probably due to the server FPS or whatever Rocket refers to. I remember him saying that when the server goes below a certain FPS (or whatever) that weird things happen, so basically the desync your seeing with zombies and players going through walls. For me, the combat is (when theres more weapons) unbeatable when compared to any other shooter. The balance of a firefight can switch between either side in seconds due to mistakes or just peoples actions, and having a tactical mind that can adapt very quickly can help you win those battles. I find it some of the most tense and gut retching experiences in a game, something that I can't get enough of. As for the actual game itself, there is still a lot of to come. Just to name a few things; diseases, wildlife, vehicles and vehicle customization, bases/ hideouts/ tents, a lot more zombies and zombie hordes, more crafting options, more variation in weather, server and client performance, more loot types and weapons. And thats just a list of things coming from the dev side of things. We as a community and a player base have the options to take this sandbox game and create things within it that we want. For example trading outposts, currency (in one form or another), medic and mechanical teams or policing groups. This is something that would be soo much better if we ourselves setup in-game, rather than the devs doing it for us, and is something quite easily possible if it was advertised enough. It started to happen in the mod, and we can or will be able to do it quite easily in the SA. Thats my vision of what DayZ will become based off the intentions Rocket expressed from back in the mod, and also in the development of the SA.

    Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557

Look, buddy mcChumbo, I don't need you to ejaculate the usual "it's an alpha" response, and so will respond: I don't want everything straight away, I just want the basics before the cosmetics. That's what you don't seem to get, possibly because you don't read and assume telling me it's an alpha is enough to make you look cool. I would like to point out, seeing as I read your post [the opposite of what you did to mine] that you told me to make my own, better game, not once but twice. I'll get back to you when I have a large dev team, a publisher, and many many $30 transactions. In the meantime, I will continue to make suggestions on a forum dedicated to such things to the people who have my money and are currently using it to make violet pants variants. Did you just ask "why would they add something placeholder if there's no need for it"? Did you even play the game, which is full of items with no current practical use at all like screwdrivers, rope and unopenable containers? But what baffles me the most is the accusation of selfishness. Basic cars, zombie loot drop, hit indicators and clipping fixes would benefit everyone instantly, not just me, which is what "selfish" would actually mean-doing things only for yourself. In fact, I see your criticism to a person proposing ideas as just hunting for beans from likeminded critics, and that is a true selfish action. Maybe you need to look at the bigger picture yourself. Wow, much needed. I'm sure that violet cargo pants, 4 different kinds of shoe recolour, and children's backpacks [all of which have currently zero effect on gameplay] are entirely urgent m8. I'm sure that more buildings is the urgent thing in a 225km2 map full of buildings. These are both far more important than making players have a reason to kill or fear zombies in, you know, an apocalyptic zombie survival game. Burgundy leather shoes are vital, and vehicles are trivial. I'm tired and you made me giggle.
  22. One of these is needed again for the many idiots on here... The developers are adding more content so that by time the beta or release come then all content will be in the game and all will be bug free. This allows the developers to add content and repair or work on previous and present bugs, as opposed to working on bugs, adding content, then working on content bugs. IT'S A FASTER PROCESS, VEHICLES ARE NOT IMPORTANT. Even though everything is pretty much a placeholder still; go eat as much as you can, and now push yourself to eat more, see what happens.
  23. i don´t really get the " WE NEED VEHICLES QQ" kids... do they think that they will spawn, see a car, hop into it and drive around ??? did they ever play the vanilla mod ? do they have ANY idea how hard it was and will be to find a car AND repair it ?? i remember when we (3ppl) found our first car and tried to repair it. it took us HOURS to get the parts to the car and repair it. when we did repair it we were shot after driving it for 5mins because everybody hears you from miles away. the tears when cars are introduced to the SA will be hilarious. i am so looking forward to the rage / QQ threads :)
  24. Look, mate, you are essentially an alpha tester. You bought the game to test it, not to play it to its full potential right away. You had warnings in Steam before buying, you have a warning in the game every time you start it. If you think you know how to make a game better than the developers, go ahead and make a bloody game. The developers have already set their priorities and those are based on actual knowledge about how to make a game. They are not making a game for a certain bobotype3434 to enjoy right now. They are making a game that can be enjoyed at its fullest as soon as possible, but without any game breaking bugs. If they follow your posts and add vehicles right now, they might come up with certain issues. And, of course, the alpha testers would be testing something that is not really needed to be tested (the basic cars which are not final, like you said. Why would they add something placeholder if there's no need for it?). The developers are developers for a reason. They know what they're doing, so stop being selfish and look at the bigger picture here. If you think you can make a better game, I encourage you to do so.

    Have you played original mod

Played Vanilla on US264, on the Mod.. was a Hero with 11k humanity, and a lot of map control via Heli's and Vehicles.. Ran with a squad of Heroes, and while we could be trusted more than the average player, we were still a THREAT, unlike what someone above suggested.. Last group of players you want to jerk over or piss off is a squad of Heroes. Also had -400,000 humanity on a Private Hive server, where I practiced PVP.. Most DayZ survived on my Hero: 21. Most Players killed on my bandit: >20 in 1 life.
