OverPoch...What are the benefits of playing this Mod?

WHAT IS OVERPOCH?: Overpoch has overwatch vehicles, and guns added to the epoch trader, and base building system. AI? (Animated Intelligence): As for Animated intelligence, the most most server has is the AI missions, I very rarely stumble on a server with roaming AI, except for the occasional chopper, or SUV packed with armed AIs. Most servers have missions with crates in the middle, and surrounded by ghilliesuit snipers and military camo corpsmans (Core-mans) Other servers have Hero AI, and bandit AI in a huge fight in major cities like cherno, and elektro, but very rarely since it can make people angry to be spawnkilled by them. EPOCH?: Epoch is a mod that allows you to build huge bases, and earning money by selling items, and guns you find across the map. One of the major things in epoch is the safes which allow you to store gear in an indestructible box, with an almost uncrackable 4 digit code (10,000 different combos). MY 2 CENTS (GIMME YOUR BEANS! I think that, eventually, spawns will be randomized over the entire map. Even now people spawn as far inland as Stary. One of the advantages of having connected servers are cross-server clan raids. Clans have their "home" server but hop to other servers to find parts for (server-bound) vehicles (just like in Arma 3: Breaking Point, for example). You send out a lightly armed scouting party to find where clans have built their bases, organize your troops on that server and execute a organized raid to steal items and destroy their base. I don't know if there is a way to fight against people storing their items on low-pop servers. -

To many people challenge is fun. Especially with the current deluge of casual games. I understand how people want DayZ to be hard but there definitely has to be a balance so beginners will be able to get into the game. All of these people saying food needs to be impossible to find and weapons need to be rare as fuck don't realize how jaded and bored they already are with the game. Balance is not a dirty word. The key is to add game mechanics that add complexity to the game and require a learning curve but aren't necessary for basic enjoyment of the game. I think Rocket is on the right track with advanced vehicles. But more mechanics like that need to be added. Many more. -
I have a bug to report, or so I think. I finally managed to install 1.8.1 and find a server with 3p=on and ch=off. Anyhow, I got lost in the woods (haven't played for ages) and started losing blood due to dehydration. Thing is, while I had full HP (12k) and no zed ever touched me, when I started -slowly yet steadily- losing blood-points cause of thirst, the blood arrow indicator pointed upwards and not downwards. It didn't change for a sec, always pointing up while I've lost over 1.5k of blood. I also didn't drink, eat or done anything to justify such a behavior. I thought while you're losing blood it's supposed to point down and when you're gaining it points up. It wasn't a public hive server but a private one, so it might be a unique problem on that particular server, but I thought I'd post it here anyways. The server's name was "ZeroSurvival.net 1.8.1 [No Loadouts or Donor Crap][Rare Vehicles]blahblah" and IP/port 144.76.72.235:2314.

Thats your problem. Neither you or I(or many forum memvers) understand what its really easy in development. "Why there are no vehicles/bikes...surely it should be easy to do..." "Why there are no private hive already... should be easy to do..." This kind of post(and threads) has been around since January... They are focused into developt the game...different teams with different jobs. What can the 3D designer team do but to make designs for new items? They cannot help in any other area/aspect of the game... Adding new items does not slow development(different team)...some aspects of the game just take more time to get through than others. Anyway i get it, Gun damage is kinda odd in the game at this moment...players says that a gun is worthless but to other players that doesnt happen nor they think the same, like they shotgun(to some a PoS, to others a lifesaver). In the case of the Hotbar, it is a know issue. Sometimes works, sometimes it doesnt. When i have that problem i usually drag the wepons of the main inventroy screen...it takes more time but that method never failed me If you like make a ticket in the bug reporter and wait, thats pretty much the only thing we can do atm... Wow, this thread is hot. Weapons I'd like to see the 50 cal added to the game on very rare occasions as soon as vehicles (cars, humvees, choppers) are implemented, though I don't really want vehicles in the game at all (except bicycles and horses). The Barrett M95 and the Browning M2 both fire this caliber. The Barrett should be classified as a heavy weapon, while the Browning should only have carry option and not fire options unless mounted. The ammunition should stack 5 shots max per inventory slot. But 50 cal or comparable only if large vehicles are added. Other heavy weapons I'd like to see are the occasional LMG36 (G36 modded as heavy weapon) with 150 round drum and the PKM. Heavy weapons should impede movement slightly more than other weapons. Their main purpose (LMG36 & PKM) should be covering fire, and they should only be accurate in a prone state. Also, I'd like to see the SVD Dragunov rifle in the game (7.62 x 54) but also the VSS Vintorez (7.62 x 39) simply because they are pretty badass The 7.62 NATO caliber would also be nice (G3 and MG3 are my two favorite weapons of all time) though these would have to be extremely rare spawns. Maybe there is a german consulate in some town? ;o) -
Agreed! I want to see a zombie dev push for a month on the world itself. -Better zombie models. Blood on the models. Esp around mouth area. -More blood/gore everywhere on the map. -Hanged bodies (zombies), rats, more objects like the pit of dead bodies placed around the map, skeletons, skulls, graveyard, bullet holes in walls. -Cars and caravans left abandoned all over the road. -Broken down military vehicles. -I think in one city they should make it feel like a huge war was waged and lost. Lots of destruction everywhere. Destroyed buildings, scattered tanks, etc. -Wearable bio hazard suits. Edit: The top 4 screenshots in the post above mine are perfect.

1.: We are using Aftermath systems and some of the Aftermath team are helping us. 2.: Like you said yourself - most people like easymode and 1000000 vehicles. That's not what we're aiming for and never will do. At the same time you're saying we shouldn't make the game too difficult - you're contradicting yourself.

don´t get me wrong. I AM FOR REALISTIC GAMING.. I never play on +300 vehicles or starting gear with AKM or something like this... I am always playing on zerosurvival.net ... I don t know, if you guys ever played "dayz aftermath" ? This was one of best dayz experience so far. Bad thing, this mod has gone to hell.. :( And why? Cause people do not like difficult playing style...

Well, if we look on DayZ commander then that would be 3rd person, spawn with weapons and hundreds of vehicles. Not sure if that was the original concept and vision. EDIT: New crossbows...look awesome.

I just bought the game and spent 6 hours straight playing it.. I managed to run from the shore all the way to the NW base, I didn't see a single person, I seen maybe 3 zombies. I got myself enough canned food and ammo and guns and water along the way to probably last me a week or more. I wandered around for another 4 hours town to town just in hopes to find someone, then wondered what I would do, be friends and wander around together for another couple hours? Or do I shoot him and wander around alone for another 4 hours before I see someone else. I don't know what I was expecting, but I cannot understand how this is even remotely fun? I just held W for 6 hours to literally do nothing but pick up some canned food and a gun? I'm sure some fun times can happen if a couple of people end up in a town, but is that excitement only to come once every couple hours? If zombies are horrible and of no threat, and you hardly ever see people then, wouldn't it be logical to either increase players or zombies per server? I can see it being better when zombies aren't retarded, also when vehicles are around so you dont have to run for 1 hour and could have more warfare. I can think of a lot of ways this game could become beast.. Different kinds of zombies? Faster, Slower, Crawling, Hiding. More guns, like 10-20 typical guns you'd find around Merica. Vehicles(coming soon): Boats, Helicopter, Biplane, Atv, SUV, Trucks, gocart, golfcart, motorbikes. WAY WAY WAY more zombies that are more responsive, almost to the point where you make one wrong move you'll be surrounded, or where there is actually an advantage of sticking together with people you meet so you can defend yourself against big hordes of zombies. AT LEAST 60-120 players per server so you might actually see someone every now and again, and make zombies scale with how many players. The ability to set up a secure trading post.

I'm gonna keep this topic simple and quick. First of all, RAIN is a very big setback in the gameplay. You can't walk outside because of rain and getting your clothes wet is a big problem. I joined a server which had way too much rain. Others don't but even so, rain should exist in the game, but it should not have that much impact on the gameplay and the character's equipment. Secondly, BROKEN BONES. Okay, I understand the need for this feature in that kind of game but bones break WAY too easily. We should put a % chance to break your leg that is adjusted according to the altitude the survivor falls from. For example, 2m (6ft) to have 10% chance to break leg. 4m 20% and 5m 30%. Then from 6m and above, about 80%. (I also noticed a bug while playing, I fell from 8m and didn't feel a thing. I just landed smoothly.) So that's it about broken bones. Now the ZOMBIES. These things are overpowered in the alpha because they can move through walls and survive more than 15 hits with a pristine machete but apart from that, they are spawning in random locations and silenced weapons are drawing them anyway. I think we have enough on our mind already in this game and endless zombies should not be our main problem. The zombies also damage your equipment. I'm sorry but I have to point this out, even if it makes me look like a softcore player. I don't like having my hard-earned equipment damaged by the zombies. We want the game to be realistic and I'm pretty sure a strike from human fists or nails is not enough to ruin a compass, a military vest and a ton of other supplies. Now for the 12 YEAR OLDS. These kids should be stopped from playing the game. They are destroying the experience of other players and ruin every server they join. All they want is an open-world Call of Duty and this, is DayZ. I don't want to have to kill every player I see just in case they are 12 or 14 and don't know how to behave. I want to see another survivor and know that we can sort things out without violence. Of course I don't ask to get rid of the violence, but make us all try to use it when it's on utmost need. All players should be FORCED to pass a series of tests before being allowed to play the game. These tests would determine their playstyle and match them with other players that play the same way. Categorized into servers. Aggressive 12 year old with aggressive 12 year old, friendly adult with friendly whatever. I think that would make the experience way better for everybody. Another subject is SUICIDE. I believe this matter is already resolved and the next update will contain a "suicide" option in the Esc Menu. Sometimes, players might get shot in the leg. Last night I got shot in the leg and it broke. The douchebag left me with a broken leg while playing target practice with my just spawned character. I am now waiting for my character to die of pain. Boring if you ask me and anyone else in this position. COMMUNICATION is another matter than requires further development. We should be able to chat with everyone in the server. I know this might bring sellers there to advertise their sites, but we can surely find a way to stop links from being posted on the global chat. I would like to know what kind of players I'm dealing with. Deceivers (the ones that say they're friendly but proceed to shoot you in the back) should be marked as bad sports and be thrown in servers with others of their kind. And last but not least, MELEE WEAPONRY. These weapons need damage adjustment. A firefighter axe against another survivor should be a one strike kill as is natural. No one can stay alive after being hit with a firefighter axe. Have you tried it? No, me neither. I can't die from a bullet in the leg and then withstand 4 strikes by an axe in the shoulder. The player who was not lucky enough to find an M4A1 should have a chance to fight back. No armor can withstand AXE (hahaha). Anyway, you get the point. Survivors must be vulnerable to melee weapons. UPDATE 28/5 : Zombies can now go up stairs sometimes and still go through walls. (JUST ENABLE COLLISION GODDAMMIT) The firefighter axe used to kill zombies with 1 hit. Now it is as useless as all other melee weapons. Not all fruits are rotten. (yay) Zombies hit in the head with melee weapons should die instantly. Brain Damage=Death Plus, a few more suggestions... 1) More ways to regenerate health besides eating and drinking. (Like healing through time, but slowly) 2) Less rotten fruits (FIXED) 3) Less weapon ammunition available in the world (to make players think twice before opening fire to other players) 4) Variety of servers with different special features. 5) Day-night circle during 6 hours. (3-3 or 4-2) 6) Less rain. (FIXED) 7) More crafting. (Duct tape should be used for countless items) (IN DEVELOPMENT) 8) Possible item fixing. (broken compass? a screwdriver will fix that...not realistic but hey, it's a game) 9) Wide range of weapons and weapon customization. No damage increase! 10) Vehicles. Not armored cars and Apache helicopters, plain trucks and cars with space to store items and need for fuel. Thanks for reading, I hope you've felt the same about at least one of the above subjects. If you want an open world CoD, you can go tell your mom to change your diapers now. :) -

Here's something i've been doing. Google Earth street view. In the Area chernarus is set in (NOT Czech Republic), and the rest of Russia to, the most common car is the Lada, usaully white. There is also a huge gaggle of Western and Eastern modern cars, with vehicles like the UAZ being very rare. So not every car has to be Eastern or old, aslong as it is post-soviet and not $1k million it would probably be in Chernarus. (With the exeption of American cars) -

...Can't we have some fun with the variety of ammo though? It would just be flat out boring if we just keep finding the same old box of 9mm everytime.. I understand what you are saying Gews, but these ammo types could work (some of them). Some of the things you are saying have not be implemented yet (vests resisting damage, armored vehicles, etc), so when they are we could use these to counter them partly. Dayz has a long road ahead of it and i would not expect for various ammo types to be added right away. I completely agree with that, however i am pretty sure they will show up sometime in the development of Dayz. Thank you for your feedback and God Bless! -

Not a big fan of ammo "types". A fairly pointless type that would only clutter up spawns, normal ammunition is ~90% as fast and thus would do 90% of the damage. A very pointless type of ammunition, there are no armored vehicles in DayZ, normal rifle ammunition should go through any of the vehicles we should see as well as through walls and doors so there would be no difference. Armor-piercing ammunition for handguns is too rare and the game doesn't model body armor anyways. I don't like the idea of hollow points because I don't trust them to be adequately portrayed. They would probably give little thought to it and do something generic like "+50% damage" which brings all sorts of problems, consider the following cases with current damages: 7,62x39 = 5013 damage * 1,5 = 7520 7,62x51 = 8000 damage * 1,5 = 12000 9x19 = 2722 damage * 1,5 = 4083 .45 ACP = 4500 damage * 1,5 = 6750 The 9x19 JHP should do more damage than the .45 FMJ, the 7,62x39 SP should do more damage than the 7,62x51 FMJ, neither does and if you increase it to "2x" then every JHP will equal a 1-shot kill. Terrible representation. Also there is the problem of calibers, a .243 JSP could do much more damage than a 7,62x39 JSP, a 7mm Mag could do more damage than a .416 Rigby with JSP but with FMJ the results could be reversed. Also many people on /r/dayz seemed to think JHP won't go through vests, cars or barriers when FMJ will, JHP just harmlessly flattens on impact with anything that isn't air, which is just silly, especially with the rifle calibers. Way too many potential inconsistencies and problems for me to want them to meddle with expanding ammunition. They won't do it right. Magnums are most popular with hunters going after waterfowl or turkeys thus a magnum shell would be more likely to be birdshot than buckshot or slugs, which is impossible (hundreds of pellets). Another problem is that in pump shotguns longer shells reduces capacity but the engine could have problems with that. Way, way too exotic and rare. Vests don't actually stop projectiles so it's useless for that too. You also forgot tracers: could be fun if unwise choice but I know people would be demanding tracers for .45, 9mm, .22, even buckshot - the only tracers should be in the military calibers. Unfortunately they inadvertently gave the Sporter and CZ tracers and "once they have a taste"... -

I'm sure it will pick up when we have more content such as vehicles etc.. People probably sick of dieing to KOS and having to walk a lot to get re geared for the same to happen. This is why I record my gameplay and upload my adventures to Youtube, it keeps me interested in the game and I have a lot of down time to edit etc :D
