    I want to see trucks where people can ride in the back, new characters, new huge mountains with caves you can hole up in and create fires in, secret hidden passageways with boobytraps, new military bases with multiple fence clearence that a group of players can take over and control from ground/or watch tower and have full control over open and close fence gates, AK47's,M1 carbines, armories with ww2 weapons, bicycles, camoflauge quads, long tailed fur raccoon hats, Heavy machine guns mountable on trucks ..Seriously its been two years in development of dayz and we have 99% of all weapons removed, 99% of all zombies removed, 100% of vehicles and animals removed.. and a motorcycle helmet to show for it I just can't wait for the day where a real game company takes up a dayz type project
  4. So, I was checking out DayZ TV.com and ran into this.. <snip> Not sure what to make of it, or even is this if official. Hoping a dev or a mod can maybe chime in. But it does show a UAZ in what does appear to be the Standalone version of DayZ. As nice as it would be to see vehicles in DayZ, I do think this may be faked, or someone figured out how to port vehicles into DayZ SA from the leftover files..

    But which game has more problems? It is possible,but I cant prove it, that fixing all the core issues of Dayz while trying to implement new concepts like bases and vehicles....... Is just as much or more work than starting from the beginning. If im wrong, then I will be glad Dayz can be successfully completed.

  9. German Version Hello people , as I have read , many of you have problems with the performance , and that despite good hardware. I im talking about people with the following or similar hardware : CPU i5 / i7 or comparableRam 8GB DDR3 or moreGPU Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 TI or AMD / ATI HD4850 Crossfire ​​or HD5850 SingleNormally, one would come to expect quite a lot of power in such a hardware configuration. Unfortunately, you do not get what you expect (good performance from good hardware), no matter how much effort you put into it. It seems you CAN get an big improvement when changing the resolution to a negative scale. My observation is that this can not be traced to your hardware, but is due to a bug in Arma 2 graphics options menu Before I show you the " Archimedes method," as it was christened today on the server after a successful third-party verification, I would like to briefly tell you how I fond the Problem . Impatient just scroll up to the " Archimedes method" Foreword I had even severe performance problems in Arma II and DAYZ on several computers i configurated and administrate by myself, including a high-end gaming PC with i5 4670 + AMD R9 290 Tri -x OC (Technically an outstanding graphics card like all other games proofed ) , as well as various "Done PC 's" and gaming laptops . Certain settings in the graphics options have proven to show a minimal frame change, sometimes the game will run smoother with certain settings set at a higher level than at a lower level This is nothing new , Arma 2 is supposedly CPU Limited , poorly optimized and programmed suboptimal. A clear yes and no ! , D Some i7 users are supposed to be satisfied with Arma2 with just over 30fps, and since, they are already the envy of other ... It was not until I recently upgraded my own computer, and the performance was even worse , that i really investigated the error . There are several ways supposed to help or to influence the performance , some of them are: Shadows = Disabled or High / Very High (on normal they are calculated by the cpu according to Internet research)Arma2OA.Exe start parameters as - CPUCount, maxmem, winxpArma2OA.Exe startup parameter - malloc = tbb4malloc_biThere is certainly even more tips on the net but at this point that enough for now. Some of these performance -guides and alleged Boost 's have made the performance worse for me before i found out how to fix the overall performance. That's why I have them all removed , except for malloc = tbb4malloc_bi because it really brings a few frames . - noslpash and the other parameters for time saving can still be used . Archimedes method 1. Measurement: Before you perform the Archimedes method , I ask you to start Arma2OA and change visibility to 1000 and then run single player -> Scenarios -> Benchmark08 . Let this PLEASE go through completely and then write down the result . You may additionally like to use external tools to display the FPS directly ingame. Then Shut down Arma 2 . 2.Start parameter : Now please delete all parameters except those which serve to save time ( no-splash etc. ..) Then add -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi as startparameter. You can add or tweak them again after you finished with Step 4. Before we embark upon the settings id like to point out the following : To make it work , it is important first to follow all the steps EXACTLY. Make NO adjustments. You can adjust them again afterwards . 3. Settings: Now the most important part , because here is the root of our Problem. Starts Arma2OA.exe . Go to Options->Video Options->"Quality preference" and set it to very low. After you have done this, your 3D Resolution will be reduced/scaled, change it back to 100% Now adjust the settings manually to the following values you can see on the image. The "Quality Preference" setting jumps to " Very High " while you do so, dont worry about that. Do NOT touch the setting " Quality preferences" after you´ve set it to "Very Low" and it changed back to "Very High" by itself. Please keep in mind that your resolution is not necessarily 1920x1080. For safety, we now click ok and then quit Arma 2 4. measurement: Now we start Arma 2 again and complete the single player -> Scenarios -> Benchmark08 . Please write down the value again. I would ask you the direct comparison of results to be published here ! If everything went well you should have up to 100% more performance with better visual quality. if so try adding "Anti Aliasing"-> Low but "Atoc"->disabled and Run again, it should not affect your performance very much now. From this point you can add your Startparameters back to the Arma2OA.exe and see what brings you the most performance. For me it is -nosplash -nopause -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi -cpuCount=3 -maxMem=3012 Now you can change the Settings for "Shadows", "HDR", "Anti Aliasing", "Atoc" and "Post Processing" if you like. Be careful and do a Benchmark08-run each time you change ANY setting. Stop till your satisfied with the performance and visual quality of the Game 5. Result & variables : Depending on what is happening in each run of the Benchmark08 it sometimes runs a bit differently. For example more or less Vehicles/Explosions. My results: Before: ~ 25 - 30FPS After: ~ 57-64 FPS My Hardware : i5 [email protected] stock , 8GB Kingston 1600MHz CL9 HyperXBlue , 2 x AMD HD4850 ​​512MB VRAM each , 24 " LCD, no SSD , Good cooling If you dont see any huge improvements , and your graphics card has more than 1x512mb (or 2x 512mb for Crossfire ) VRAM, set "Graphical preferences" to very low again. Try again from Step 3 but the Setting " Texture Memory" to "Default" this time. If that does not have the desired effect or may not apply to you because you dont have more than 1x 512 or 2x 512MB VRAM, start lowering each setting on its own starting with post processing then Object and Terrain detail and then Texture Quality. I've also set the LLC (Load Line Calibration)in my Bios to a level that does not have a high Vdrop, because that also gave extreme performance dips on hardware level in various Applications. The CPU seemed to get automaticly undervolted in load spikes resulting in terrible framedrops and realy bad/low GPU usage in Arma2. This stabilized the Framerate a lot, also adding 20% performance to the CPU-heavy Benchmark02. Your feedback is needed at this point. Conclusion This apparently is a bug in the Arma 2 graphics options menu . The setting "Quality preference" is the culprit ! Either it is a bug in the internal configuration file for Arma 2 or the setting " Quality Preference" changes things you can not see or change in the Options menu. I am furthermore not sure if this method results in the same performance increase every time but it has been confirmed by the only other person(at the time of writing) who has tested this The utilization of both the CPU and the GPU has now risen markedly. I am not sure if this works for Standalone and/or Arma 3. Feel free to try it out, the Setting is called "Overall Quality" in DayZ Standalone. Good Luck!     Any date confirmed for vehicles being introduced?

    The people who whined at the OP about not using the search function sounded like they had sand in their vagina. Why not just skip the thread if it brings out the worst in you? Vehicles would be interesting. I know in ARMA 3- vehicles are pretty common and it makes a lengthy journey easier. I'm sure in Dayz the sound of a car would attract people like fly on merde, so it would make an interesting battle.

Hello People ;) I would like to invite you all to join the Zombies Unite DayZ Epoch Servers, after some recent issues that are now fully resolved, we are looking for some new players to re-populate/liven up our dayz servers.We currently have 2 Servers up and running with a lot of cool features and additions, without spoiling the purpose of the DayZ game. (No Tanks, No 10000 vehicles, No JETS etc.) Our servers are both PVP AND PVE orientated! So you will find a mix of Heroes, Bandits and Raiders! We run our Epoch Servers on a fully dedicated machine with a fast connection, 2 Raid 0 SSD'S, 32Gb's of DDR3 RAM and a beast CPU. All this will hopefully keep the server performance maximized.Our servers are located in Central Europe (France), But we have NOTHING against people from other parts of the world joining! On the main Epoch servers, we offer: - Custom made Anti-Hack (With frequent updates to keep the server protected!)- Debug Menu (can be toggled)- Trade Protection/Spawn Selection (Safe-zones & Anti Theft inside + the ability to choose where you spawn)- SelfBB/Sevice Stations (for some gold you can get your vehicle fully repaired/refueled)- Fire-dancing and a suicide option. (for when it all just becomes too much...)- Clothes removal from dead bodies. (for the perverted players)- A.I MISSIONS (Wide variety of missions: From building supply drops, Medical crates to Heavily A.I Guarded weapons caches!) - These have been tweaked to improve client & server performance!- Extra Trader stock ( + added more guns,items and vehicles to the traders)- Fixed Vehicle Salvage/Repair- Taming of dogs.- Fullmoon Nights ON- Removed R3F Weight System (no carrying weight restrictions)- Removed RAIN (Weather still changes, just no more monsoons)- Bike/Moto Deploying (Right click your toolbox to deploy)- Consuming Bloodbags. (Gives back health, food AND drink but has a very high infection chance!)- Base Building +++ (bases have slightly increased hit-points, and the decay rate is set to 21 days)- Added Custom Buildings/towns (Reworked NEAF, Survivorville town, Added checkpoints and buildings)- Friendly active admins- Proximity player tags (ONLY if you are within 4 meters of a player will it show - helps catch safe zone thieves and does NOT reveal locations/distance.)+ All the other regular Epoch Jazzzz*We will be hosting regular weekend events and prize winnings* Anyone is welcome to join!     questions about maps

    While you're still learning, use the map but I'd recommend using it sparingly. Terrain features, towns, hell even shrubs become easy to recognize as you play more, learning the map is well worth the space it eats up in your brain. One area I know I need to work on is the inland road network, that takes a bit more but also good to know once vehicles hit. Not having to stop and recheck directions will save you a bunch of time.

    I mean you could shoot from ground vehicles in ArmA2 too. Just with weapons attached to the vehicle but... I think its not too hard to make it for units on board too. (Battlefield has it, right?)

    They should spawn a lot in wrecked vehicles. You know, when you look in the trunk of cars and so on... or on the backseats. But loot spawning in cars is not working at the moment. Rocket said in mid February that he fixed the bug for some reason the fix hasn't been added yet, not even on experimental servers.
  15. the day vehicles hit the EXP the servers will explode. vehicles are just a requirement because thats what people are used to in the mod and breakingpointa3. so its just one of those things that is a hot topic and always complained about. that being said, the whole revamped engine and server side reliance of SA is a difficult task. So making vehicles completely server side,etc is a task and a half. But the pay off is performance and impossible to hack (hopefully) there was nothing worse than see a fighter jet fly by in the mod LOL

    hah, look at breaking point for arma 3. now thats a well polished game base (arma 3) and a wonderfully done mod on top of it. its basically a working standalone with vehicles and humanity. But it has reached its potential and is basically a really good PVP experience with some fun survival elements. (with amazing ballistics and weapons that SA cant touch...oh and the player movement is ace)

    Yep, I think electricity would be best introduced with just diesel/ petrol generators for starters to keep everything in camp/ base running like fridges, electric ovens, floodlights, other lights, heaters, ham radios all of which you could find and haul back with great expense to your inventory. Things like fridges, furniture and generators themselves would require amounts of space that is provided only by vehicles. These things should be relatively unremovable once placed to provide camps with a safer atmosphere where some things you work for are hard to steal (hopefully making people more open to letting strangers in their camp). I feel electricity should be very very late game though, 95% of player made places should have nothing more than a permanent fire pit and a couple bags under a tree.

    Having "driveable" vehicles in the game doesn't mean you'll be driving them around. At least it'll give something for players to strive for. In the original DayZ mod, vehicles were fairly rare, to the point where people started hosting their own servers with "100/500/max" vehicles set, so you'd have a chance to find something in literally every town.
  21. Come join NDA's server that includes loads of ai mission's with intelligent ai that have a dead on shot and will even try to flank you. The reward is great and the risk even greater. You can find the custom areas of that map at kamenka, Cherno, NW airfield, NE airfield, and stary trader center.Vehicles are all over the map and we have medium strength armed vehicles such as BTR's, Jackals, LAV's, and etc. (no tanks, attack helicopters, or jets). Missions vary from weapon caches, NATO weapon caches, bandit medical outpost, medical outpost, Plane cargo drops and crashes, and many others. We plan to add many more cities and military like areas around the map to create a more interesting Chernarus experience. With a toolbox on spawn you are able to get going right away with the toolbox to bike script. The load out consists of a G17, cooked meat, water bottle, painkillers and morphine, toolbox, map, hatchet, and flashlight. It's easy to gear up and get going which makes for a more enjoyable experience Spread the word and help us get this server started! No plot pole required for building. You can buy a evac chopper for your base that will pick you up off the coast or wherever you happen to be.   23. I don't get why people are so gung ho about vehicles, does walking/running across the map bother people that much? I could see basic transportation like a bicycle later on in development but if you add in vehicles, now you're talking a whole new set of items to add to the loot table like gasoline and car parts. One thing at a time, let the dev team work on fixing the existing issues with the game. I may be wrong, I usually am but I can only see a few reasons why some think vehicles are needed. Reason #1 drive bys, reason #2 to get back to your bullet riddled corpse before server restart or someone comes along to relieve you of your items but just let it be man, you can acquire more lewt even on a medium to high pop server and last but not least... bait car. I've seen too many people fall for this one when I was a server admin for the mod, quite hilarious actually.
