    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Might just be a case of the launchers haven't caught up yet. Not sure how you can mess up an auto process install on steam but ok. Question we have had a few random issues reported with vehicles. Quote - "Vehicles randomly blowing up, vehicles randomly teleporting to different locations. Helis blowing up mid air or mid flight." Any of you guys seen any of this happening ?

    Question to developers

I want the vehicles not for the need of traveling faster trough the map on itself, i want the vehicles mostly for the following reasons: - Having vehicles will make people stop camping so much has they will be they will be searching, and fighting over vehicles. - Will make people much more aware of the surroundings, i mean sometimes you can pass trough people and not even notice them, its just normal, but it will be impossible to miss someone coming on a noisy vehicle, i think this will make alot of interesting situations

    Question to developers

I hope as far as they go is bicycles, shitty cars, beat up light trucks, a few small rowboats, and some rubber boats with tiny engines. The Map isn't really big enough for helicopters, and speed boats and no one needs BMPs and other military vehicles. I hope they have pushed the arrival of your advanced vehicles to, "a cold day in hell." I don't want to play ARMA with Zombies. But have some beans anyway :beans:
  5. soulfirez

    They nerfed characters.

Oh no they have added a survival mechanic to a game thats ment to be a survival game what the hell were they thinking!!! Strange it seems to be working reasonably well for me if i dont sprint every where i dont over heat. If i wear cloths or make a fire at night i dont freeze hmmm strange that kinda sounds reasonable doesnt it. PS for the why would they add this before vehicles crew ah what you think everyone is going to have a vehicle they will be rare ,hard to fix and maintain so the majority of people will still be walking/jogging/running to get around so it really doesnt make fuck all difference. But hey wow you might have to slow down now and care about your characters health( weird in a survival game right actually working on surviving) but hey this might give you time while moving from town to town to spot animals to hunt so you can eat seeing as food is getting a little rarer also.
  6. captain_finnish

    They nerfed characters.

It is OK that they implemented this, but right now without vehicles it just seems unnecessary to have a feature like this as there is no other way of making your way to military bases other than running.
  7. Evil Minion

    They nerfed characters.

Which is the right priority because even when vehicles are introduced most people won't have one most of the time. In the end this might even help gameplay because its not viable to take a sprint to the next military base right after spawning. So this might cause more population in the middle part of the map as "passing through" won't be "sprinting past" anymore. However, I hope they also changed loot rarity. Otherwise you would find everything you need in your first town with not much to do during the rest of your journey. As from the OP it seems a little bit exaggerated but after all its experimental - feel free to report the issue in detail. If you don't like it at all you can always play on stable. There are good chances they will release a more advanced version of the temperature model. Did you try to take a bath then light a fire? Otherwise its probably better to play at nighttime to avoid overheating. Oh wait, most servers are daylight only! Well, about time to change it.
  8. Calvin Candie

    They nerfed characters.

You people really want vehicles? Yesterday I took a nose dive from the 5th floor of an apartment building, went through all the floors and landed cleanly in an imaginary room on the building base. And lived. Then glitched below the building and hopped out on the street. Now imagine riding a bike into that building what sort of problems might occur there. Probably the universe would implode and dayz code would go nuts, brake into pentagon and deploy few nukes. Nuff said. BRING ON THE WEATHER EFFECTS! Forget the vehicles.
  9. GunnyITA

    They nerfed characters.

Why do they introduce this shits before introducing vehicles? I do not mean it's a horrible feature, it's a good one. Bot on a wrong priority list. Now how do people will migrate to the middle of the map or elsewhere if we get this kind of message? From east to NWAirfield it takes 20 minutes running without weather effect...now because of this we must take 30-40 minutes? Game must be quite for everyone, not for nerds that have 3 hours free on the morning and 4-5 on the afternoon. The improvments are interesting, but before put some kinds of features, put all of them on an organized chart and so you can define a priority list. Devs you are working senseless
  10. captain_finnish

    They nerfed characters.

Meh. You can die to overheating when you run too long and there are no vehicles in the game. Dean Hall pls.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

I've played Breaking Point. Melee - Worse than the Mod. One axe stroke can drop 10+ zombies. I know this because I had 10+ zombies spawn and run into the barracks I was looting. Killed them all with one chop. You have to have your axe loaded like in the Mod. No real other melee weapons around. Zombies - No threat, the don't notice players, when they do they slowly walk toward them. They are easy to kill, move slowly and wow is the animation horrible on them. Zombies = 0 threat, at least in SA there is a chance the zombies might kill you. If they did in Breaking Point you would never admit it to anyone. They only appear in an area if players are near, just like the Mod, they despawn when players leave. So basically zombies are a flag for, "Player over here." and that is it. Much like the Mod. Guns - Basically the ARMA III guns spawn. Wow, that was hard. Not much work into trying to put interesting guns into the world, Grab something that uses 7.62 x 51mm and find a scope for it. Not hard to find either. I was fully geared in about 3 hours of play including NVGs and GPS. Vehicles - They slapped rusted skins on ARMA III vehicles. You need to fix them up a tiny bit, but rather easily done. Loot Spawns - Horrible. Seriously, they couldn't figure out how to spawn the loot other than having it spawn in containers so you can run PAST a building with a quick glance to the side to look in the door and you know if there is anything to loot. Not like SA where you might miss something even if you ran through the rooms in the house. The containers themselves are a pain since they block movement and are buggy. You can loot farm some spawns incredibly easily as well. What is more I was killed by a loot box. I ran up to a crash site and the box wiggled a bit. I was able to access it despite it's vibrating so I started to swap my stuff into it to put on the bigger backpack and load that up. Got the backpack and went to grab my stuff when the box started to literally fly around in loops. It struck me multiple times doing serious damage each time and finally I died from the damage it did. Interface - The ARMA 3 Breaking Point interface is actually worse than the ARMA 2 interface. It's painful to move things around or to "manage" your storage on your character. Saying it is worse than the mod is saying something too. Maps - their homebrew map is "meh". Clustered military spawns close to each other, crappy cities with no reason to visit them. Kinda like the Mod. Survival/Medical - Bleh... next to nothing involved. Clunky mechanics and very little need to do much of anything to survive. For the most part I think the theme for Breaking Point is "I guess that is good enough." not even with the words, "for now" added in. It just seems like they kludged some really crappy design over Wasteland, patted themselves on the back, and released it. The ONLY thing they did that was even half way decent was the class system. They have a fairly good concept there and executed it in fairly good manner.

Zombie dogs and spiders and snakes

(Some) Players spend a lot of time around camp fires and fishing, to bring a much needed relief to the sometimes overwhelming atmosphere of DayZ. Having a snake/spider bite you while doing either of these things would not bring anything "constructive" to the experience I feel. Endurance Sniping (spending hours camping with your Sniper Rifle for a worthy goal, hijacking vehicles etc) would also become even more problematic. If I remember correctly, the idea's been touched on but immediately dropped because the country that chernarus is based didn't have many or any deadly snakes or spiders. I suppose we'll have dogs soon as pets. looking after your dog may involve treating it for illness/sickness.. maybe even rabies? Sounds more believable considering....

    Larger Map

For 40 players the map seems big enough though thats hard to say as most game dynamics are not final. With rarer loot, loot respawn management, lower walk speed, vehicles, fixed server hopping etc. we might see more action all over the map. A bigger map would also require more resources and more players. So I agree with the others who said "quality over quantity" - for now.

    Larger Map

I used the search function, didn't find anything. If this hasn't been posted, I'm surprised it hasn't yet. I'm going to go ahead and admit, I don't play on full pop servers, usually only 5-15 people servers. The reason? I can't handle stress, or pressure, or making decisions while under stress or pressure! I'm very bad at encounters with people, especially since I don't have a lot of time to make a decision with what to say/how to act. If I think someone is in the same building as me? I freeze up and my heart starts beating veeeeery hard, to the point I can hear and feel the veins in my head throb. My thought process stops, and it's hard for me to decide what to do. I TRIED a full-pop server ONCE, and I nearly had a heart attack because almost immediately start to get chopped up by a guy with an axe. Needless to say, I haven't played on a full-pop server since. Now, finally, onto why I think larger maps would be great (Take note, I think this should only be implemented when they add vehicles). What I envision having a character in DayZ to be like one day, are long journeys across country sides to get to a specific place (i.e city, town, stuff like that), for loot and gear like that. Along the way, you'd hunt, fish, setup camps for the night (Which would be longer, but that would depend on the server anyway), with sleeping bags, and a campfire where you cooked your beans, and maybe had chats with your friends. A good balance of how often player interaction occurred could make this perfect. My inspiration for this comes from pretty much any post apocalyptic movie, where they travel forth into unknown lands. Also, with this, it would be cool for them to add where you could spawn with friends, if they approved, but not in certain areas, only around spawn points. Basically, what I think it would add would be: + A lot more to explore, which would make sense! + Player interaction less often, and much more important + The environment more of a danger, for this would be an issue along your whole "Journey", which would be a plus for me - Potential problem being that it would be more boring? But, there would be stops along the way, some that are better than others, thus attracting more people to them, some less valuable, so that there is less risk, but less loot. EDIT: - I'm not sure, but this might make the game harder to run? I wouldn't know about that Any suggestions? Feel free to comment/criticize, but with reasonable justification If I forgot anything, I'll edit it in!

    Idiot.

WHERE ARE THE FUCKING VEHICLES :D
  19. Let me preface this thread by addressing those who do not prefer to use controllers for most PC games: This thread isn't for you. Please ignore this thread unless you'd like to contribute constructively. To those who prefer a controller, I do have a warning you've probably heard. Day Z (Mod and SA) are not very controller friendly, despite having default schemes in place and allowing controller mapping. Namely, you can't navigate the inventory screen at this time without a mouse. I understand you have your preference, and that is why I provide this information. I have begun testing what the default control layout for Day Z: Standalone with a Standard Controller. I'll use Xbox 360 controller terminology since that is the most common controller used on PC. Be aware that you can use a non-Xbox controller, but if it doesn't support Xinput, the default scheme won't apply and you'll have to map every action individually in the game's option menu. I haven't figured out all the controls. Possibly some of the controls may be mapped for certain gear or situations I have not or cannot encounter (ex. Vehicles, entering and exiting). I haven't used a loaded weapon yet in DZSA, so I'm not sure which button is "Reload". Please feel free to contribute any knowledge you have about missing and existing controls. Default Layout: Left Analog - Move (Analog sensitivity enabled) L-Stick click - Crouch (Toggle) Right Analog - Aiming R-Stick click - Unknown D-pad UP - Interaction menu scroll up D-pad DOWN - Interaction menu scroll down D-pad LEFT - Unknown D-pad RIGHT - Unknown X Button - Unknown Y Button - Unknown A Button - Interaction / Confirm B Button - Go Prone (Toggle) R Bumper - Map screen R Trigger - Unknown (I had an Axe and it didn't swing, so it might not be "Fire") L Bumper - Unknown L Trigger - Zoom Start - Game Menu (ESC key) Back/Select - POV toggle (First and Third person) Just like the Mod, you can choose to disable the Xbox 360 controller default scheme and map buttons as you like to the controller. You cannot edit the game's primary controller scheme. You have to map every input individually, but the analog sticks will automatically register analog input for movement and looking. There are also Third-party applications you can download to your computer to create more sophisticated button mapping layout on controllers for the game. You can see other threads for more information on those. Let me suggest an alternative to those of you who prefer controllers that could help you immensely when trying to play this game. The game recognizes controller, keyboard, and mouse input simultaneously. Being the weirdo that I am, I use a hybrid control layout. I utilize the LEFT SIDE of a controller for movement, while using a gaming mouse as my RIGHT SIDE controller, and spread out useful commands between them. I turn off the default controller scheme in order to map everything correctly. Here is my personal custom layout for the left half of the controller... Left Stick - Movement L-stick click - Vault/Jump D-pad UP - "Up" (Toggles standing and crouching, or moves you to crouch from prone) D-pad DOWN - "Go Prone" (Puts you into prone from any position) D-pad LEFT - Toggles Raise/Lower Arms and Weapons D-pad RIGHT - Map (Doesn't toggle. You have to push another button to exit the screen) L Bumper - Inventory Screen L Trigger - "Look" (Swivel head without changing movement direction) Back/Select - POV toggle I map other common useful commands to my extra mouse buttons. Everything that is combat related is at my finger tips. I only ever have to use the keyboard for non-combat actions. I understand I could be in danger at any time. I take responsibility for my own bad judgement if I put myself in danger. Hope this helps some of you :)

POLL: What if DayZ was made by a different company?

If DayZ was made by EA they would rush the game (current feature list with fixed issues and optimization) to be finished just before Christmas. Vehicles and specialist weapons would be paid DLC appearing in 2015. And in December 2015 "DayZ II - Survivor Tales in Chernarus" would be released, featuring a different set of weapons and better graphics. Last DayZ patch would be in January 2016 and introduce some major gameplay changes that would make the game much less enjoyable. Then DayZ II would get vehicles and specialist weapons as paid DLC. Just before Christmas 2016 they would release the Addon "DayZ II - Survivor Tales in Chernaus: Zombie Hunter" which will get paid DLC the following year as well.
  22. Rags!

Is it to easy to gear up?

Gearing up is too easy. In the current .48 Stable branch that I play now, I hardly feel any pang of dissatisfaction at having a character be reset either through a extraordinarily-convenient-for-certain-clans-my-group-is-about-to-murder restart in a [ZaP] server or just running into some murderous Russian speaking psychopath. Gearing up is so EASY now that It's actually kind of "fun" to see how fast you can get your hands on a weapon and some olive/brown clothing. Seriously, I don't think people realize just how common weapons, ammunition, and good clothing are and how many spawns they run by all the time that can give them amazing gear. Rusty vehicles are goldmines for ammunition and for weapons, even now when you can't see the police cars. I AM SHOCKED HOW MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THAT KALASHNIKOVS SPAWN IN JEEPS. There. I said something true. Give me beans, dammit.
  23. heradon89

Is it to easy to gear up?

erh... It was about 25 vehicles in the mod. Military weapon was just as rare. When I started, only my group had vehicles and military weapons. Until ppl figured out how the game mechanic worked. And intentional and unintentional duping become a major problem. Military loot today aint really the issue, but how easy it's to obtain those items. I mean why would I choose the bow over an AKM. At the moment there is no point to even think about the bow. To make a bow, I need to find recipes for it. To find the recipes can be challenging and time consuming. Even making the arrows is a difficult task. Coz I haven't even seen a chicken yet. So I rather take walk to NWAF. After one trip, I'm fully geared with vests, camo pants/jacket, ballistic helmet, AK,ammo, food, drinks and so on. Basically I get fully geared in no time. Just by visiting the airfield once. Looking for that chicken could take me the whole day.I'm glad this is just alpha. Because currently this game lacks of character progression. We are supposed to start with nothing. Then slowly develop our character. Maybe crafting some clothes and basic weapons. And meele weapons should be your first weapon. Then you find new stuff and you slowly improve what you have. You may have baseball bat. How do you make it more lethal? Maybe you can find some nails in a shed and attach it to your baseball bat? Hopefully we will see character progressions that goes step by step. Instead of just running into a military base and ur done. Hopefully they make places with high value loot dangerous. Military areas should be like hell and risky. A place with radiation, toxic air, mutants or similar. So hopefully u have made or found gear that can handle those environments. At minimum it should require basic hand weapons like shotguns, pistols, hunting rifles, a gas mask, boots. To enter certain places that contains high value loot. I wish those area had similar environment as the game Stalker. Dayum I really hate replying with the phone...

POLL: What if DayZ was made by a different company?

It would different for sure. But honestly, vaguely like that there's no way to know "how different" it would be for sure. If a company like Bethesda made DayZ, it would probably be similar to Fallout 3 or TES series (Except TESO, which isn't a real TES game... I've been in 4 different beta tests and it's not a TES game. It's a an MMO in TES universe.) in terms of open world style game. But if it was the case, we probably wouldn't have access to the Alpha or Beta. Again, all this is pure speculation. I'm currently testing/playing about 8 to 12 different alphas and betas, and at least half of those are of the zombie survival genre, and they all feel very different despite being of the same category. (Alpha/Beta games of the same genre I play/test : Project Zomboid since the beginning, when the only thing there was was a tutorial with a few houses and 2 streets..., The Dead Linger since Alpha 1, 7 Days to Die since Alpha 1, Nether since pre-release alpha, etc.) There's one that I totally quit though. WarZ/Infestation: Survivor Stories. I per-ordered it like a lot did assuming it was going to be an awesome zombie survival game. It started to get weird when after 2 weeks of alpha, without any progress done, the game switched to beta stage. And when in December they called it a "full complete game", they lost all credibility. Despite major changes to some mechanics, other maps, addition of "crafting" and a finally "vehicles" (yes, "vehicles"...) the game never delivered what it tried to do initially. I had some fun and enjoyed some moments spend in game with friends, but it's truly an example not to follow when making a video game. Anyway, interesting post. I like DayZ SA current alpha state the way it is. Quite a lot. I like the direction it's taking and even at this early stage, I have lots of fun playing it.
