Since storing items on the coast would be a horrible idea, the boondocks up north would be a lot more dangerous if they were actually some potential campers guarding their or their group's stash in them.. The positives outweigh the negatives. Eventually, when you consider all of the possible implementations such as tents and hunting, the player count for servers probably needs to be increased as the general play area is going to get more and more spread out. Vehicles will help some, but I HOPE they don't have too many of them. I personally want vehicles to be very rare - I want them to be hard to obtain, hard to maintain, and hard to keep.

I'm not sure DayZ is or has ever been about survival. I'm not saying I wouldn't like it to be about survival or that's not what the devs want to make it, but the Standalone and all the versions of the mod of DayZ I've played have always been more PVP than survival. It is what it is. The environment has always been too easy and it's always been too easy to gear up. It's up to the developers to change this. More hunger, more disease, more zombies and less weapons is what's needed. The majority of the player-base wouldn't like this though - just look at the popular versions of the mod and the abundance of servers with thousands of vehicles and epic starting loot. The situation is unfortunate (imo), but it is true. -

What? No... If I build something, and then log out, will the items magically disappear? That is the non-cheap and unrealistic alternative? Everything magically disappears?? How about this: If you want to be able to defend your base, you need people manning it. If not, you will not be able to defend your base. I'm not sure how people imagine base building, but some people seem to imagine it as some kind of Field Fortification with a huge pile of supplies, weapons and vehicles that have been hoarded for two weeks... -
One thing I would really like to see as I've never played the arma2 dayz and have no idea if they have included in that is for instance when you go through some towns there are factories around etc with some loot in them and that's about it. I would like it where you can find materials scattered around the map and have to get special tools to reboot the power in these factories and start making things like weapons, mods, improved body armour, mods for vehicles and even build vehicles itself! Maybe they are already thinking of this in their future builds but hey would be kinda fun and you could hire teams or start a mini trading post with others. Also as it develops you can find blue prints and people can find books to aquire certain knowledge to build stuff. You can then get titles for your char such as 'Mechanic Level 2' and so on! The top guy could be an engineer where he could fix multiple power to buildings and maybe even get the trains running once again! Just some crazy ideas.

All you need is a sledgehammer (professionals use vehicles these days), pliers, a crowbar and maybe a blowtorch. No need to be unrealistic in that department.

No way you can protect an undefended base for more than a couple of minutes. Let alone 2 weeks. You know you want to be naked in the dark every time you log on. lol

This is how DayZ is, it is a major selling point to many many people and to completely ignore that precedent now would be suicidal of the devs. Hell, many people play this game specifically to hunt down hidden caches, you'd be completely killing that aspect of the game. Hell, why even hide your cache well if it is magic and can't be broken into. So I guess that aspect of the game goes out the window too. Seriously though, the devs are never going to add anything let alone something as powerful as bases that just can't be interacted with by anyone, except with the owners permission (which is essentially what you're asking for if you make this tied to your character being logged in). They might add locks that require lock picks or explosives. They might make it generally very complex to bust someones base. But I can guarantee you that they will never ever in a million years add anything you can't carry on your survivor that will be safe from other players when you log out. -

I want the stamina and weight system even before vehicles are in. It's ridiculous how we can run forever as it is. Makes the infected a non factor even with them respawning. -

I just thought about how important a stamina system would make vehicles such as cars and bikes . While costing stamina too and tiring the player a bicycle would make treking long distances more feasible. With a stamina system getting from berenzino to say balota would not take 30 or so minutes like it does now it would take a few hours due to the reduced speed and having to take breaks. -

Thats my brother, who i took this account from, who left to wait for vehicles, and i cant change my username so im stuck with it Bug found: Whenever i drop a gun on the ground that does not use/have a mag in it but has bullets, then pick it up, it sais the gun is empty and i cant fire it, but when i try reloading it sais its full and when on the ground it has ammo in it. Hackers In Experimental Build

Really for only being out for 3 months, the game is very much playable. For alpha, that's not bad. There are bugs, yes, but there are also games fully released with gamebreaking bugs. It's not that bad. Running everywhere sucks, but it still only took me around 15 min to actually make it from Pavlovo to Berezino yesterday. Jam something in that W key and go AFK for a few minutes. It goes by pretty quick. Once vehicles are added, though, I think you'll see a lot more people out in the world and not Elektro death matching it. Plenty more to come. Don't play if you don't like it right now. You still own the game and get it when it goes to beta or release.

Seriously........ Did anyone expect the game to be in this state 3 months after its release? I want to love this game so much but I feel its slipping away day by day as no real update of any significance are applied. And so it remains, Zero loot re-spawning, no method of storing items other than on ones person, limited zombies etc etc I just don’t understand why we were told that the loot would be handled differently but they clearly didn’t have a clue how to achieve this. Were were told that the standalone would be hacker proof …..WHY ????? The FPS are god awful now with not even 10% of the game content Vehicles end of Q4 ? really……. Why can’t they give us a mountain bike or something? I know 99% of you will respond saying ITS AN ALPHA BLA BLA BLA , but come on WE ALL EXPECTED MORE THAN THIS. The Basic core elements of the mod are not even realised at this stage and Dean leaves in 9 months.

Can't wait for 'base building' but, as people said. These bases cannot require super high grade camo/explosives etc. to break into. But, at the same time, I feel they should not be raidable by a simple one man operation. That would cause waaaay to many trolls. My personal plan for a base is simple, find a base in the middle of nowhere, fortify it with a few hidden traps, maybe a few of those tank traps used since WW1 (hopefully) make it really discreet. As for cameras, maybe a makeshift form of camera, which would show an extremely low quality image on a screen, not perfect, but still gets the job done. In addition, traps are a must. Regarding what everyone is saying about vehicles, think, in an apocalypse, everyone is in a rush to escape, therefore vehicles will litter streets, military roadblocks would also be prevalent. So, I feel as though fully operational cars, helis etc should be rare, yet, it should be super easy to scrap together a car from different parts found from other cars that litter the road. It wouldn't be perfect, but enough to get the job done. For those whom disagree, think about it. Let's look at the current state of the country all of us are playing in... Everything is deserted, no traders have moved in, no other people than us, zombies aren't to scratched up, they actually look pretty recently infected, therefore, this whole catastrophe could not have happened more than maybe 13 months to 2 years ago.... So, there will be plenty of bits and pieces which can be put together to make something awesome, kinda like Dead Rising 3 (albeit, not so crazy and unrealistic).

I wonder if people realize that neither the stable nor the experimental build servers represent all of what the development team has done? There's a development branch server out at BI with a whole lot of things going, that just aren't ready to be pushed out yet. A server with things like working bows and crossbows, rag-doll physics, and likely simple vehicles and a load of other things still being tuned. Probably more tightly tuned zombies, some sound fixes, and the like as well.

As long as its not self bloodbag, spawn with the most powerful gun in the game, and 100,000 vehicles, or easy-mode zombies I'm pretty much open to most suggestions mod wise.
