Once private hives and vehicles are added I'm willing to pour time and money into getting the survivor gamez to dayz SA, not just for streamers and youtubers but as large scale events. -
Ok, I tried searching and couldn't find any topics on the subject, so I'll just ask. I just started playing Epoch today having only very briefly played the original mod before switching to standalone. The server I'm on there's a crapload of cars spawned in but the majority of them are locked. Is there any way to unlock them? Also, is there any way to lock my car when I'm not near it/logged out? I found a bunch of bases with no one in sight and a lot of vehicles surrounding them but couldn't get in to them, like someone drove them there and locked them. Any help would be appreciated.

How can anyone be so against the progress of the game? Wish I had a "remove beans" button. Vehicles are an integral part of the game's realism, something to work for, something for fun, and something to get you around the giant map without holding W for two hours. Are you honestly freaking SERIOUS HOW ARE THOSE EVEN REASONS KoS happens anyway and without vehicles; also (1) you can dodge a car far easier than a bullet and (2) vehicles take time to build, you don't just HAVE THEM Can you even into English? Or even just coherence? HOW IS THIS A BAD THING I'm actually mad Edit: Also, if you have the ability to "run around in a car take guns from all airports", so does everybody else. The playing field will be levelled when items respawn anyway.

You wouldn't want to drive away the player base by limiting how fast they can travel without vehicles being in the game... We are part of the testing too.

I think perhaps you took "gameplay steering" the wrong way. What I mean is that its should be 100% true sandbox, emergent, player's choice. Not "game design" more ore less forcing you to go to A instead of B because that's the only place you can get something you vitally need to be effective. I agree they should make use of the whole map. More unique spawns in each town would be an interesting way to encourage travel. But also additional content to promote Long-term group play Vs. Let me gear up, kill someone, and die then repeat. (which is what the SA currently offers.) there is no real incentive to work together until you can start working towards things like bases, vehicles which are a nightmare to fix and maintain, etc. This stuff that many refer to as "end-game content" think the massive fortress bases made by 20-30 man clans on epoch- weeks of resource management and construction and crafting- All the while having to defend your base from other clans and lone PvPer's & and bandits this sort of content will see people using the map more strategically and playing in groups cooperatively will be the way to succeed. with that all out there, I must re-state my original opinion tho, that taking valuable tiems from an existing spawn to "push" people to go somewhere is not the way to make a good sandbox. -

There's no reason to really travel. its a general lack of content issue. No storage, no base construction, no vehciles. Removing spawns from costal areas would only be a shoddy and aggravating way to "force" people to go to the new spawn locations. im 100% against gameplay steering like this. Once vehicles and some form of storage or construction are added traffic will expand as clans/squads will want to base up in more remote locations to minimize thru traffic around their bases. -
Don't want vehicles? Simple, buy a server when they release the mods and don't have them in there. It really is that simple.

Vehicles I think will somehow be kinda different from how we know them in the mod, I don't know. But with all the big changes already and vehicles being left until even later I expect big changes from Arma 2 vehicles. Hitting someone with a car I think should ruin your windscreen though, and that's another reason why third person ruins the balance. Cracked windscreen means nothing when you can just go into third person.

Considering vehicles are on the list of features listed on the game's Steam page, I doubt arguing against vehicles will do any good at this point. Sure, they'll probably be exceptionally difficult to get working and use, but they will be there. Just looking at the controls, you can see they've got ones for cars, helicopters & planes. They probably wouldn't have ported them over if they didn't intend to use them.

I am glad so many here have seen what the bigger problem is. The bigger problem is the lack of animations for alot of the ordinary things done in the game. We need animations for entering and leaving vehicles, for opening doors, for looking at our inventory, for looting bodies. We even need animations for gunshots, we need to show through an animation that the player is bleeding and favoring a side due to a wound.

I aint played in 2 months with over 196hrs of play. However..... the game will be good once tents, vehicles and lots of other stuff is added. Lots of development left yet. -

Vehicles will be added, get over it. The devs confirmed it in the list of certain things to be implemented over the course of a or a couple months. This argument was lost long ago even before you made this topic.

and heli's have been confirmed. i hope they don't have guns on them but I'm sure they will. in that case they need to add an unguided rocket launcher such as a RPG or make the improvised explosive able to be duct taped to cars/vehicles. because i will hunt choppers down and plant bombs on them and blow them to shit. i loved running from them but did tired of clans usually being the main force on a server and usually had most of the good vehicles and heli's.so i need a way to attack them with guerilla tactics so i can slowly cause them trouble with out them knowing or thinking its just one man. booby traps to like burying a shot gun shell on top of a nail step on it and no more leg.i got off topic sorry

its not going to be like state of decay or GTA vehicles are gonna be hard to fix and put together I'm sure. and i hope they add some collision mechanics to the models cars should not be a killing machine if you hit a man in a car he's going to destroy your car and probably come through the windshield and kill you or at least ruin ur day. now if your in a semi-truck its a different story. i think they'll do it right i personally can't wait to hear about ambushes on people driving in cars stopping at a cross roads to get denzel'd by 4 AK's. it'll give folks more to do sir as well as base building it just adds another layer of activities. hell i could care less about having a car what i want is a tent and hunting and i'll be happy with the game everything else to me will be extra fun.

If they implemented them in a right way, they won't always spawn at the same place once server restarts. A lot of players will see vehicles as "mobile bases" and won't risk loosing them by acting silly on the coast or driving in the middle of the airfields. Of course since this is a work in development we're gonna see erratic behavior with vehicles from time to time but I don't see this being a problem. The only "problems" might be hackers/exploiters and most people fighting over them. Yes, we need more zombies and better AI, but if done right, vehicles would be a great addition and I know many players will be pleased to have them.

first: i think they are working on this second: they are also working on this. some ppl say on experimental it would be way better third: there is no loot respawn atm, but they are workin on one. i totally agree with the "spawn with magazine". (the m1911/every new mag, can be found in the tents at balota and NWAF) fourth: vehicles will be added (soon ?), for the guns, i agree, there should be a wide variety ( i think thats planned ), btw, cant wait to see the new smg :D oh, and welcome to the Forums :)

Indeed more zombies, and harder ones at that is a must IMO. But vehicles are an integral part of the game, although they will be done properly this time. Very few of them will exist making them a luxury item, that only large groups will find practical to use.

21/04/2014 (from next restart) Disappearing Vehicle Bug Fixed - Some shoddy code from opendayz was responsible for this one, but it took some time to track down the cause. The mod we added to clear all the wrecked vehicles from the road was only running client side. So the server still thought there were objects on the roads. At certain times the server would see your car inside a wreck which wasn't there for your client and decide to remove it from the game. -

If servers can hold 100+ players, and the map, have more spawn points (not only in coast). You will see more players in any places. We dont need vehicles ... vehicles will ruin the game If you put vehicles, rope to be hard to fix and get fuel. And... random vehicles spawn points, because... if i know, where i can find a car, everytime server restart, i will run like a horse, to this place, take my car and run over all noobs, go fast and take all guns from all airports, etc... We need more zombies, much more, with a cool and variable animations and better AI and patchfinder! See 10 zombies running with the same animation is not realistic to me :( vehicles ? No thanks PS: Helicopters no PLEASE!!!

IP 69.162.82.10:2312 Active, fair, experienced, older admins AI on the West half of the map, No Ai on the East half. This is a PVP server. You can kill anyone anywhere. The traders have anti-theft & god mode. I set up this server so people will cross paths more, which means more fights. The problem with Napf map is it's so damn big. So I moved the hero and bandit trader to Emmen trader. The Ai are insanely difficult. There's 2 ai cities/arena and Ai missions with Ai vehicles, paratroopers, heli patrols, mounted RPGs and M2's. Most people seem to like this as a challenge. I added APCs and mini tanks to the traders. I blocked off most barracks around the map and made three new military loot spawns. So once the server fills up there will be plenty of pvp and more people crossing paths. Average player age is mid 20's, but it's a mixed crowd. JOIN US! All are welcome

Hello, I am not sure what you guys are going to be polishing first but I recommend you polish the zombies first. First off is that they spawn too fast. You could be in a battle with 3-4 and then all of a sudden when you are done killing them they spawn back again. I know you added the fast rate to test it out but in most cases it just ruins how realistic it is. Tactics is what people need to us in the game not just having a great gun to kill zombies. If I want to search a certain place in the city I should be able to fire once with a loud gun and make them all chase to me and when I kill them they shouldn't have respawned already. It needs to take a while to respawn so we could be able to go in and out without troubles. Second is that the zombies keep running through walls so often. Its not so great to fight zombies when they just run through a wall like that cool-aid guy xD . In a zombie game the zombies should definetly be the first to be fixed before anything else. It is really hard to fight zombies. Sometimes you could dodge their attacks and you can get hit when they swipe the air and you are not even near them. I am not talking about standing infront of them I am talking about how you could be behind them cause you just dodged an attack and they could still hit you when swiping 1-2 seconds later. I use a fire axe which is one shot kill and I encounter this problem a lot. Another problem is low spawn rate of magazines. I know an army camp out in the woods that my friend showed me and there has never been a magazine found in there but once. Even when changing servers or logging on later it would not be found. I have an m1911 but no magazine for it. When finding a gun the magazine should come with it at least because who keeps their gun empty without a magazine if its not in a show case or something. Vehicles should also be added soon. Although it is not as important as most things it still helps a lot. The map is big and if you want to go to great looting places it could take up to 3 hours depending on who you are with. Having vehicles like a Motor boats, army jeeps, bus's, and helicopters would be a great thing to have in the game. I know that you guys are planning to add them but they are very important because of how big the map is. There also needs to be a lot more guns. There are quite a few added already and I am glad they are there for us to find but there still is a shortage. I am not saying that you need to have like 40 guns. If you have a few of each time that would be great. Maybe just one rocket launcher too to destroy vehicles. Also I forgot to mention one of the most important things! I can jump higher without being hurt than this guy can when he dies -__- I can fall down a 3 foot drop accidentaly or 2 foot and die in game. Please fix this immediately. This is really a big problem. I have been saved by a glitch once from a 2 foot drop that would have killed me ;-; thank you glitch. I am pretty pleased with how well done the game is so far! Keep up the good work and don't keep us waiting too long.

One thing that a lot of people forget, is that tents may not be the main unit of storage anymore. Backpacks, as per developer comments, are the first items slated to become persistent. So, while tents were easy to spot in the mod, backpacks will (ostensibly, being smaller physically) be harder to spot overall. One could make the argument that because of this, the requirement for "wilderness" is lessened given that one no longer needs a lot of space to hide a stash. This argument doesn't take into account, as has been mentioned, the later inclusion of vehicles (which could also be helped with the oft-suggested camouflage netting) and player structures. EDIT - LOL at all the people saying "there's enough forest already." Takes me about an hour to scour the entire western woodlands in the mod, and another hour to scour the entire northern woods after that. That's on foot too! And those are the most prodigious woods we've got so far! And the latter has been shrunk noticeably to make way for larger towns in the Standalone.
