    Crafted flamethrower/defoliant projector, either carried in place of backpack or mounted on vehicles. Possibly made using kerosene?
  3. I'm a broken record here. I've been saying for months we need 7.62x25 tokarev. People give me crap saying only a few guns will chamber it, but as of now, you only have 1-3, the mean and mode being 2, guns that use the given bullets anyway! I think the PPSH, the TT33, and the PPS-43 would make fine additions to this game. Also the Mauser C96. That's 4 guns that use one ammo, which is more than is already in game! Why? Unique properties relating to penetrating, especially involving vests, cover, and vehicles. The FBI in the 1980s conducted a study to examine the lethality of handgun rounds. The major factor was not enough penetration. The 7.62x25 tokarev has adequate penetration.

    I think that was the ACOG I traded with you, wasn't it? Ignore the usual crowd, they're just jealous.... And yes, I feel your pain. This is why I've not been that highly motivated to go and investigate vehicles until they're a bit more...stable. If I did, I'd definitely do what jukaga suggests and stash high value kit somewhere. PM me if you need some help sorting out new gear.
  6. I'm blown away that we are entering 2015 and we still have people on here claiming everything is hunky dory with standalone. I have a feeling most of the people white knighting Standalone are kids that didn't actually have to earn the money for the game. I'm not saying 30-40$ is a lot of money, but what's disappointing is that when someone says "I play DayZ It's awesome" 99% of the time what you are seeing and hearing about is Mod content... But the way steam and the community is in general, you see "DayZ 30$" and you buy it not knowing the huge differences between SA and the mods... Basically what I want to say is that if you haven't seen Arma 3 DayZ mod gameplay, you should check it out. My biggest gripe is that I spent 30$ on a game that will never leave Alpha, when a already more complete and better supported game exists in the form of Arma 3 Mods and the Dayz mod in general. It should really make a lot of people who blindly support SA, upset when they see coders building a game faster (and for free) than Rocket and BI can with 80 million dollars.... Maybe he should hire the coders who not just ported but greatly improved the original DayZ mod to Arma 3, and they can actually meet at least one of their deadlines. Q4 2015???!!? The fact that you are happy with a Q4 2015 deadline for Beta shows that you have already committed to going down with this ever fast sinking ship. And the fact that you think they would even pull off a Q4 2015 deadline being this far behind is also a big sign of just how delusional some of you are. We have seen games get completely made, go through alpha, beta and are now not popular anymore in the time it has taken Rocket to put Buggy vehicles ported from the mod into SA.. I guess I did come to SA fanboy central, so these comments are pretty much on par. I love Dayz, the concept is great. I just want people to know that there are better games out there in the form of the arma 2/3 mods... And especially the Arma 3 Dayz mod which surpasses standalone being the most similar... I want people to take that 30$ they would spend on SA and buy Arma instead... Mostly just research any YouTuber, gamer that has extensive experience with arma/dayz etc... Let's just say they are not playing SA...
  7. Today I died 6 times. I'll play again tomorrow. For someone who is used to playing vanilla veteran DayZ servers, this place is fantastic. The zeds are slow, but powerful. Anything less than a headshot is not enough, and since ammo is so difficult to come by often you'll find yourself not bothering. Gone are the days of taking a hatchet to hordes of zombies - hand to hand combat is not an option. One hit can be enough to send you to your next life, and though it may seem a little excessive at first you'll soon find yourself enjoying the challenge of avoiding zeds! Loot is difficult to find, and most things that you do find are seemingly garbage. All of the food that can be 'found' will infect you. All of the water sources are infected. You spawn with an empty water bottle, an M1911 with one mag, and an empty water bottle. Add to this one of the best crafting systems that I've ever seen and you'll soon be kitted out enough to survive. Need a knife? Need a fishing pole? Need warm clothes? A tent? A backpack? You can craft all of these items easily, often within the first hour of gameplay. The trick here is to find out what you need! Right clicking items to look for options is KEY. Industrial loot is your friend here. That and a friendly player base always willing to help out :) Once you get yourself established you can use the Epoch modular building system to make yourself a home. There are no NPC traders, or formal economy. No 1000000+ vehicles. Vehicles are rare, and should be protected. Trade between players is encouraged, with one player even going so far as to build his own trading post. Helicopters are very rare. I've played here for about a week and have only seen 2. I have heard that they are in the southern section of the map which is covered in bandit AI players. Because of that I've been exploring the north and have only encountered the bandit AI on a handful of occasions. Oh yeah, that reminds me. There are bandit AI players. They patrol the map in vehicles, or in small groups, or in helis. They are hostile and well equipped, definitely worth hunting once you get some gear. They have ghillies (warm clothes), sometimes blood bags, good backpacks, sometimes meds, sometimes loot. Overall, they have useful things. But the best part of this server, I think, is that when things get this hard people have a tendency to work together. Players can kill each other if they wish, but on a server like this having a few friends is never a bad thing. Hope to see you there. Bring your A game. CF

    Wow what a harsh crowd. Most wont give you the slightest bit of sympathy around these parts man. lol. It's dog eat dog. I've been lucky with vehicles thus far. And I've been unlucky when it comes to keeping a character longer than a couple of weeks. I can't stay in the hills.I need action and that brings me undone. :) Bad luck.

    Anyone Remember World Containers?

    Collecting apples, woms, twigs, berries stones grass, chicken feathers etc works exactly the same way as loot containers ...so do tents vehicles, backbacks, fishtraps and rabbit snares.. so what"s the problem with having for example a rubbish skip as a loot container for empty pet bottles and rotten food ...by looking at it you would get a context menue saying "do you want to dig in the garbage?" then pressing F would start animation and sound ( same way as apple picking) ..after a while you probably get this message "you have found something"...look in your inventory ...voila some rotten kiwis and a damaged empty pet bottle.... Some other examples...ammo and weapon crates in miltary bases...or the lockers in the barracks could have a chance of spawning uniforms ...etc etc..the possibilities are endless... This does not mean that there is no loot lying on tables, under beds or simply on the floor....it would make looting just more interesting and also would save a lot of server performance.... As far as it goes for Fallout and The Elder Scrolls...Rocket statet more than one time that they are taking a lot of inspiration from this games.... ;)

    exactly the same as snooker, unfortunately red is not as common as it could be so it can take a while to build up a decent break but it's doable. really annoying having to let a couple of blacks and pinks pass by while waiting for an elusive red to come along lol. Be a bit more interesting when more vehicles are introduced, they will definitely count so here's hoping we see red hatchbacks.

I saw this comment by a dev on reddit, replying to people complaining about the plans to have the vehicles use manual transmission and i thought it was relevant here: "We are promoting player skills, if you want to drive that vehicle you need to know how to operate it. Doesn't matter at all if it takes some time to get used to it." This is a good sign in regards to their design vision, hopefully they'll apply the same way of thinking to the shooting mechanics.

    They already exist with persistence to a degree- But if you want to hide things in refrigerators or shelves that would be neat, I imagine as cars and other vehicles get fleshed out it will be implemented. basically if you can find a box that is a world container with persistence now

    This is already in the official list of vehicles, it is not confirmed but it is voted in favor of. The search tool, and official lists, are your friends. I understand you might be new to the forums but please use the tools and lists you are given before you just make a "new" suggestion.

So i finally managed to get everything together for my ghillie suit on the stable branch servers, have to say that it was a lot harder to make than on experimental - alot of searching for that netting - finally found some at Berezhki, but what I'm thinking is how many people are actually going to put the effort into making a ghillie? Because it is hard to make, and ever harder to find the parts for it! I know some people think its too rare - as in one piece per server restart makes it rarer than heli crashes - but personnally i like it - makes it feel likek you have actually achieved something when its made and makes you want to protect it! Hopefully vehicles will be as hard to get going and maintain! So, do you think its worth the effort to make the ghillie? it does hide you unbelievably well - (video below) So how many of you guys will actually make it?
  16. I have been playing on a server for almost 6 months now called "Hostile-Forces Gaming." It is arguably the best Overpoch server I've ever played on. The only thing it's missing, is a good player count. Only getting 10 players daily, we need some new people!   18. WB philly Well... Vehicles!...guess that's why ya back lol, keep in mind the aren't persistent and only 3 per server. Persistence has arrived with 2 tent styles, it causes an issue with loot spawning apparently, gets wiped every Wednesday, but you can keep your gear if you pack it up before maintenance. Canabalism....you can now eat people but beware....you will get a brain illness that causes you to laugh or cry every now and then. Less chance of getting it ifyou cook the meat. Theres a rangefinder.....so that's nice A few new guns and locations (I wont spoil locations for ya) but we got a cz something rifle, ak's, AUG. Tonnes of new items. Can now grow stuff but I haven't tried that yet, fishing and hunting is in....maybe that was in before ya left though. Oh and if you find a lockpick you can now lock doors and gates. If you find a locked door youcan bash at it with melee or shoot it to open it. That's about all off the top of my head, theres a lot more, il let everyone else fill in the blanks :)

  20. Just stopping in to state that I have been enjoying the gameplay lately. With the addition of the v3s and items (such as duct tape) becoming more useful for survival, it is all coming together. I was one who has in the past complained about development speed, but the underlying tech that is starting to seep out (lockpicking, doors sounds, horticulture, and vehicles) is really helping me enjoy the game. Personally the biggest improvements that are coming up are: Real Persistence: i.e. Tents that don't despawn on wednesdays. Barricading: i.e. Boarding up stuff, securing fences around structures Increased Farming And of course true base building. It's an exciting time for DayZ and while the next month will undoubtedly be slow (holidays) I am looking forward to 2015. Oh and the upcoming rendering changes... :lol:

    Its called a melee weapon, silent and deadly ;) Yes people will kill over a vehicle.....but they kill for gear or just laughs atm. At least the vehicles distract them for a while so they aren't just KoSing. That's what its all about we need festures....things to do besides shootng....vehicles is a big step forward for that IMO.

    Because if players had silencers, they could play stealth mode and sneak around dropping zombies and surviving as a lone wolf without 20 KOS Call of Duty kids hearing their location. Whereas by adding vehicles into the game instead of fixing silencers, we have free for all crazy deathmatches for getting to the vehicles and then the vehicles are giant targets that draw in KOS players and just take mindless shots at the vehicles all day. I'm surprised I'm the only one that thinks this way.

    Hello and welcome to the Forum, the reason it says "best experience" is because you get higher texture quality along with it for characters and vehicles, depending on the DLC you're buying.     Adding new content

    Please fix zombies so they don't clip through doors, kill you from underground, or just plainly bug out and take zero damage. (or just remove them till you do) I stopped playing dayz a year ago because of these problems.. also bugs like instantly fall off ladder soon as you go to top and die... unable to pick up items from bodies.. unable to load ammo, (all pristine and right caliber) wanted to play again and hoped these problems would be fixed.....NOPE! But at least we have vehicles and new weapons!... for love of god please fix what you got before adding more stuff.
  25. Listen, don't get me wrong. I am not looking to internet argue so I will keep it civil. My frustration is that my fear that the team could not pull it off is coming true in my opinion. Love for them to prove me wrong. I will address your points below - new renderer <-- From what I have seen this is simply borrowed from Arma3 - new animations system <--- Again, what did this solve exactly or improve on what Arma3 already has. I would like some examples - new player controller <---- When they made this change people were not happy. Not sure the improvement. Mouse smoothing? - new AI system including new sensors and navmesh <--- The zombie AI continues to be a trainwreck. I fully appreciate the challenge of this, but nothing new for most game companies and with the money they are making no excuses - new netcode <--- Again, I do not see any increased stability of this over the netcode of the mod or Arma3 which is nothing great. Huge desync issues persist. - new client/server connection and communication system <--- Ahh the MMO decision. Show me the benefit. There certainly may be one and maybe it cannot be realized until the finished game - switching from content based on scripts to content using engine functions <--- Has this significantly reduced the hacking issues? - new system for loot respawn and distribution <--- Nice, but nothing that improved over the mod system. Again, full benefit may not be realized until finished game. - new physics system <---- Hit detection is still a nightmare so what did this solve? - vehicles coded from scratch using Bullet SDK <---- Since vehicles were just added I will give you this one - new User Interface <--- This interface is HEAVILY borrowed from Arma3 which I have no problem with, but framework obviously already existed. - new player model + customization functionality <---- Again, nothing different than Arma3 - new weather and seasons system that impacts players and items <---- Weather system is nice. Impacting gear is interesting but nothing more ground breaking than the mod coders have accomplished. - new sound engine <---- Need to see proof and impact of this system. Again, not looking to fight, but these guys OWN THE CODE, and I don't see what forward progress has been made. BI has collected millions from this Alpha so I expected the game to be much further along. 100% willing to eat crow...or beans.
