When vehicles are in game we will have something to do. 1. finding vehicles - I guess they will be rare and well hidden 2. finding tools - there are allready 10 different tools, to repair vehicles we will need all tools 3. finding parts - they will be scatered all over the map, and I hope there wont be posible to carry whole engine block in backpack 4. customisation - like in Origins mod, I hope we will be able to reinforce vehicles with metal boards, bull bars, spikes and more

Tis strange but i have never been into finding/repairing vehicles of any kind myself, but it was such a rush when you heard a vehicle approaching, and to see a Heli was an awesome sight. I am talking vanilla DayZ Mod here where getting an Heli repaired and fueled was a real effort rather than stumbling upon a fully repaired/fuelled Heli on the beach upon spawning.

This is pretty much what happened in the mod. As custom mods and servers with 1,000 vehicles and various other easy mode scripts started popping up the stock DayZ servers became more and more empty until it was more or less impossible to find a populated one. I think it's fair to predict that the same would happen with your survival servers.

The thing is however, those same bandits need to find a vehicle and the parts that come along with it too. Not to mention the gas. They will be rare and it will take people a lot of time to get everything together. Since everyone and their mom will be looking for it once it in, I think a lot of people/clans will struggle to get a vehicle in working condition. Especially when 100-man servers are done. On top of that, we will get weapons to counter vehicles aswell. Well..."get"....we need to find them and/or craft them. I will plant IED's (if/when they get implemented) along the entire coast if I must/can. Failing that, I will strip down naked, take an IED in my hands and blow myself up when their precious little truck passes by. One final note: The spawn locations are not final. They will probably change again. I don't think bandits will have enough patience and gas to patrol the entire coastline and the inland spawns. If you do spawn in a location with bandits trucking by, tough luck. The same was already happening in Kamishovo and other spawns and there weren't any vehicles present then.

I think we both know those are there to facilitate testing without vehicles. Loot is again far from anything final, and is easily adjusted - the priority is seeing if the loot offered behaves properly, which is, again, facilitated by having it spawn amply. -
That is a different thing entirely, as one drop loot would make game play literally impossible. However not including fresh gasoline and working cars won't spoil the game; in my opinion it will save it. If there are too many powerful guns and too many vehicles the game effectively becomes 'Grand Theft Auto: Online'. If I wanted to shoot people I would play COD, and if I wanted vehicles I would play Gran Turismo. What I want are axes, bicycles, and zombies.

I can also build bases quite well, given that I have access to Snap Build and the resources to build said base (Metal Floors, Cinder Block walls, combination locks, etc) Maps~ I am know my way around the following maps: - Chernarus - Taviana - Panthera I want to become fluent on the following maps: - Takistan - Napf I have Teamspeak 3, I'm 18 Years old, only language is English, and ive spent Well over 1,000 hours on ArmaII/Dayz/Epoch/Origins/Overwatch. I get along quite well with small groups of players (2-7) though have alittle trouble co-ordinating with anything much larger. My Timezone is AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) - UTC/GMT + 10 Hours, though I can adapt to later times (Up until 3am at most) My goal right now is to support other friendly players by using my skills with familier aircraft and ground vehicles. I do require an MV22 / Ospray to keep my piloting skills sharp, though its not Needed.

You can still find fresh fruit. I don't think gas goes bad quicker than fresh fruit. Also, bicycles are vehicles, and they would still work until they rusted to the point that the parts could no longer hold. I can't foresee roving bandit drive-by bicycle clans either.

i dont think having no cars is going to keep you from being dropped by people with a group of friends. just because they dont have a car doesnt mean they arent gunna shoot you. personally im not against this or for it. i think that some servers should be able to have no vehicles but i would never want to see this across all servers.

I'm not sure looks would be my biggest concern after the apocalypse. Sure, being intimidating or sending a visual message does work, and it is a video game, so obviously cool-factor is more notable. However, ultralight aircraft would be incredibly effective if you had them available, as they can take off and land in much more variable terrain than say a C-130. They don't necessarily have to add the one he chose specifically, but ultralight planes are probably the most plausible of any others (gliders could be too, but where would you launch them from?) Regular small/medium planes and helicopters are still going to be the bulk of remaining vehicles, but nonetheless.

What we do is we look at DayZ mod and go what was fun in that? Vehicles, yep vehicles where definitely fun! Ok lets put that in. There will be servers (when mod tools are released) that might have no vehicles but they will also have people playing them because most people find vehicles fun. While your fear is valid (and it will happen) as long as there are other things to do in the game then it shouldn't become a major problem. For example in the mod there was always a few dick heads who hung round Elektro with .50 cals lighting everything up but they are the minority and then as soon as base building was introduced it hardly ever happened. Plus there is always going to be people who like to come and kill the spawn killers. Stay hidden and get off the coast should be your motto as a freshie.

To be honest, my ulterior motive for 'no cars' is that I am worried about fresh spawns becoming even more outmatched. I would rather face one dick with a shotgun than a dick with a shotgun and a truckload of friends. The existence of vehicles would allow bandits to work together to dominate servers, and they would cruise along the coastline, hunting bambies for fun! Why add an even greater power imbalance to the game if it isn't even realistic!

In a country like Chernarus, you'd be able to find private supplies of fuel in homes and whatnot well after. It'd be hard, but possible. As far as keeping a car working, the kind that would be available in Chernarus means yes, it'd be pretty hard to keep anything working. I personally hate vehicles and everyone that has one in DayZ.

This is sort of an anti-suggestion... don't know if any of you have read up on apocalypse theories, but one of the key things people always get wrong is vehicles. Getting a vehicle working more than a year after social collapse would be LITERALLY impossible, as fuel goes off. I know this seems ridiculous, but gasoline is so refined that parts of it vaporize, and what is left isn't combustible in any ordinary engine. This doesn't hold true for diesel however, but I don't think diesel was in usage in Soviet Russia... the only reason fuel would still work would be if the ordinary social structure had only fallen apart about a week ago, but this clearly isn't the case due to the evident scale of the collapse, which would suggest that we are at least six months into the endtimes. Therefore there is no chance that any working fuel could be found. http://autos.aol.com/article/does-gas-go-bad/ Just posting this so that the realism of a vehicle-less world isn't ruined... however I would not oppose the adding of cars as scenery to the cities and roads. At the first sign of an apocalypse people would fill up their trunk with tinned food and try to drive somewhere, so it wouldn't be unrealistic for cars to be hot loot spots. The videos that you have seen were more than likely DayZ mod. Vehicles have not yet been implemented in DayZ retail, but will be later in development.

I started playing Dayz stand alone about 2 months ago, and today i saw a bunch of youtube videos with people driving cars and flying helis. I have not seen this while i have been playing. The question is, can you still find parts for both the vehicles and heli? Thanks!

There is no engine like SA's engine. It looks like A2 in terms of graphics and that's it. Vehicles, weapons, the entire movement system, ballistics, the inventory system, the clothing system. All is different to both A3 and A2. Maybe the graphics were taken from an existing engine, but that's hardly enough to say that it's just an existing engine minus unnecessary things. I'll tell you right now, that it most certainly took lots of work to build the engine. Work that needn't be spent on a mod. It's ridiculous to say that creating an entire game takes the same effort as making a mod. -

New DayZ Epoch Napf server, Empire Warzone. Privately hosted, we script it ourselves. PVP,PVE, AI missions and cities. Tanks helis jets, repair rearm refuel, all basic scripts including self BB, towing/life , etc. Active Admins and scripters. No burdensome rules, high fps and low ping. We are open to player suggestions and easily accessible. We are also in this for the long run so no need to worry bout your hard work being deleted. Custom traders sell all guns and arma vehicles for reasonable prices. Napf is an awesome map if you are tired of Chernarus. We will be adding more and more content each week after we make sure the scripts we make are solid and well written and don't hurt server speed. Impression of Standalone (from a DayZ Mod Veteran)

It's kinda stupid to compare a mod with a standalone game. Mod is a modification, meaning you can throw stuff at it but you'll always be limited. Standalone means that you can improvise, do whatever you like, but it's obviously going to be more difficult and time consuming. Let me break it down to you: Standalone: huge content potential, but very time consuming, can modify anything, including the engine. Mod: some content potential, easier to throw stuff at, but cannot modify the essentials, including the engine. Therefore: Progress in mod will be faster, but limited. Mod wouldn't be able to use the inventory system that the SA already uses. Same goes to the clothing. These are just examples. Conspiracy theorists like OP tend to be wrong. The whole gaming industry is a lie? Tell you what, one day, hopefully sooner rather than later, we'll have fixed zombies in an unexpected experimental branch, then vehicles, etc. Just give it time. You can't make a perfect DayZ in a year. -
