Planned restarts are META, and as an experienced PvP Player, I will use ANYTHING to get an advantage on another player, including restarts. My choice on an impending restart is simple, if we are down to the last minute and my opponent quits firing at me, it's time to push, chances are he is sitting down waiting on that 15 second timer for his body to disappear from the server, he is DEAD MEAT. Or if I know I am against a seasoned player, I may choose to stop firing in that last 60 seconds before the server restarts to allow my opponent to push me, I simply turn the volume up on my headphones and listen for those footsteps and pre-fire as necessary. That's what a planned restart gets you. It's super meta, but it's used to gain an advantage, just like P.A. I have won more fights than I have lost at restarts by utilizing that strategy, but many times you get lost in the moment of trying to stay alive all the way until the server boots you. And the enemy can use the same strategy prior to restart, so it's FAIR. P.A. is not fair. It's not my responsibility to say "OOOOHHHH! Here comes a restart, better go hide because it's possible the enemy can have P.A. of which I can't do anything about....," while the enemy is on my ass or I know they know about where I am located. That's the same thing players that subscribe to P.A. do, they pay for the advantage to get into the server before others so they can spot players FIRST. That is the truth, and nothing more. I've been running servers and taking donations from players without ever using P.A. for years. P.A. removes the ability to counter the opposing player's knowledge of your whereabouts, but what do I know, it's just an edge case anyway, like vehicles, I guess. Sounds like they are treating the flying vehicle issue with the same love and care as P.A. Cars flying? Nothing to see here, it's just an edge case... move along.

Great topic. May I add one thing? I might be wrong, but in my opinion Dayz needs two things, which would make a game quite different but in my opinion much more interesting when you are geared and once you found for yourself enough food and water. Those two things are: 1.) Possibility to create clans/group in the game. 2.) Possibility of occupying the territory Let me explain this more in detail. The thing is, in real apocalypse scenerio, you, without help of others, would struggle. Either mentally (you would feel alone) or physically (no backup in fights, no overwatch etc...). So sooner or later you would need someone and look for some companionship. You would look for other people. Thats why I suggest possibility to create clans in game. There has to be a reason to approach someone. Either to create a friendly or bandit group. And this friendship should store somewhere on the server. Should be saved. There should be a list of clans existing on the servers. You should be able to know if this friend that you partner with yestarday is online today. Or something similiar. The second thing, there has to be some bigger purpose. One of this purpose could be to claim as much territories as you can as a group. I suggested that quite long ago if you are intrested. Here: Let me know what you thing about this? The possibility of occupying the territory makes sanse for me because people in real life also strive for power. Power over others, money power, control power, territory/land power. In apocalypse people would look for as much ammo and weapons, vehicles to have (material power) and to have as much areas as possible (land power). The reason I love Dayz is because this is basically the game of two different mindsets. Evil mindset (kill everyone, gain power over others), or Hero mindset (friendly, help each others...). The problem Dayz and Dayz community has is that Evil mindset prevails. And the reason that Evil mindset prevails is because the game machanic reward such behaviour much more then Hero mindset. For example, with killing someone you can gain much more than helping someone. And also, with what you can help someone that that person could not do it by himself? However, either you have an Evil mindset or Hero mindset, I think, the best way to enjoy this game is to do things with other people. What do you I mean by that? For example, if you choose to have an Evil mindset, try to find a person or group of people to have similiar mindset and try to do things togheter. Like robbing people togheter, killing togheter, intimidate people together or whatever. If you have Hero mindset, try to find friendly person or friendly group/community. Try to build something togheter. For example, try to make a trading spot/safe zone, try to base build togheter, try to open a fishing store, shoe store, car shop, Tool shop or anything like that. Whatever you choose, try to do it with others. Like that, you will enjoy more. PS: Sorry for any grammer mistakes. My English is not my first language. -

in your example (i only watched the bit at your timemarker) he crashed frontal full speed. that should result in death and a ruined vehicle. i guess we are on a different level of "balancing" vehicle and player damage. like i said before, im fine if they reduce damage on vehicles with slow speed crashes. i also know a fix for guns not sticking out the roof: dont let us shoulder guns while sitting in a car. its also not about "defending" bugs.... i just give my feedback to your post? for your "realism" paragraph... again its about gamebalance and what is possible in the game.

I never said the devs should disable all damage, nor did i say they should introduce modern performance cars or rocket powered shopping trolleys... I was merely posting an example of hobbyist modded vehicles that don't bug out, break and kill the occupants at any given opportunity, while also having the horsepower to climb any of the multitude of hills found in the region in which the cars found in the dayz world were apparently marketed for. Just imagine the trouble the school run or weekly shop would have been pre apocalypse with such useless vehicles 😉 If the devs can't fix the bugging cars, which they obviously can't, then making them just a little less fragile is the easy and obvious path forward. Something it seems you're in total agreement with. Also a simple fix to make shouldered items disappear when entering a car so they don't stick through the roof. They already do it on ladders for items carried in your hand. And while they are at it they could put a stop to dropping the item in your hand when entering a car as well. All stupid immersion/game breaking bugs with incredibly easy fixes. I struggle to comprehend why you or anyone else would even try to defend these bugs and issues in a game you've paid good money for? A game where you can't bake a potato without removing its skin but happily eat bananas peel and all, can die of thirst in a rainstorm while being unable to remove blood from your hands in same rainstorm, can't mix milk powder with water to make milk, can't shoot out of a vehicle, can't carry passengers in the back of truck, bike helmets in nigh on every house but not a bike to be seen, can't don a raincoat over a t shirt, have to strip down to wear NBC 'coveralls' and wearing gloves when skinning an animal somehow stops blood from getting on the same gloves is already one that ignores the meaning of the word 'realism'. That word should never be raised when trying to defend this game and definitely not its weird inconsistencies and game breaking bugs.

disabling car damage is the fix for vehicles by modders? come on now! i would agree that vehicles take too much damage with really slow speed, but thats about it. also this is the apocalypse. the vehicles arent in a good condition as "new" cars. the truck only makes 42km/h for that reason. modding it to 100km/h isnt a fix also in my eyes. some people like lambos and ferraris in the game, but i dont see its value in a game like dayz. rather play gta for that.

Really? Note crashing the vehicles neither kills occupant or damages car beyond repair; not a broken radiator, dead sparkplug and ruined tyres to be seen. Obviously a bit OP but dayz devs would do well to make their vehicles more OP so that when the game inevitably hangs while driving them it isn't instant game over. AT least until they can guarantee that all vehicle crashes are down to player fault and not game bugs. Vehicles can even hill start and show the semblance of proper driving physics. And so on...

hahahaha keep believing that. modders didnt fix vehicles yet, did they? did they fix the handslot bug? i guess not. modders are good for having new terrains like deerisle or namalsk. some modders will bring you traders and no stamina. great!

So these guys were just trying to follow WOBO's advice on getting a car unstuck. Look at how ridiculous this is. Does this really seem like an enjoyable player experience with vehicles? Taking the doors, trunk and hood off, throwing them on the vehicle to get it unstuck? What's so sad is that instead of building the car physic's correctly from the beginning, THIS IS WHAT PLAYER'S RESORT TO try and keep the game fluid for them. It's a very sad commentary on the current state of vehicles. Does it make any sense that a guy sitting in the vehicle gets knocked out several times basically sitting still? -

I guess you don't have to do that on purpose when it happens naturally, all the time. >.< The good news is that the server thinks you're sitting in the car and all is good. Luckily, I've had zero deaths with putting the car in neutral, and then relogging when game turns into a subterranean trampoline simulator. To me, it sounds like most of the vehicles have a pretty extreme knock to them. Like a new car with almost no oil in it.

Well one of the things i've noticed with cars is they tend to bug out less with fewer occupants. I'd imagine bikes would be less buggy as they would just be an extension of the single player riding them, a player model moving faster essentially. My simple solution to the buggy vehicles, assuming they are as unfixable as they appear to be, would be to increase both the vehicle and the occupant armour so when the inevitable lag bug happens you haven't instantly lost the toon, the car and the loot you've spent ages collecting to a 15km/h collision with a picket fence. Trucks already provide this extra protection and are thus much safer to drive in dayz, that and the fact they can actually climb the hills 😉

Vehicles are broken, buggy deathtraps and i can't understand anyone defending this. Also can't understand why in a world where bike helmets are so prevalent there's not a single bike (motored or pedal powered) to be found.

With this gas bombing bullshit have over win the players who use DayZ as another "stupid" classic war FPS... instead of what, as it was described, it was supposed to be... but it never became well: "survival from a pandemic". But to play a hypothetical World War 3 you couldn't make a mod for ArmA3, which is the right game for it? Why spoil DayZ like this? And what left me most disconcerted and embittered is seeing how many are enthusiastic about it and how many contest this bullshit. In the end, if this game is right for you as it is changed and managed ... then you really deserve it! I'm sorry because, despite the countless flaws and bullshit I liked it, but I don't like the direction it lost anymore. This is no longer a survival against a pandemic ... it has become a hodgepodge of bullshit, nonsense, a bit of survival from a hypothetical pandemic and a lot (too much) fighting an unequal war against a ghost army made up of almost everything and everyone (programmers including) who do everything, any bullshit and illogical nonsense, to make you impossible and annoying. What is the fun in all of this I just don't understand. With 1.15 what will we find? The armored vehicles commanded by an army of infected immortals ?!? Maybe they will add the "anti-tanks", but they will be rare, you will have to fight against 3 armored vehicles with only a knife and kill at least 20 super infected super equipped and they will only have 3 shots when, to destroy an armored vehicle it will take at least 5 (how long does a mask filter last inside an infested area ?). What kind of a game is this becoming ?!? And many will be happy because this "will add new challenges"... 😮 🤨 🤢 Because fishing, hunting and look for the materials to build a base (where to live comfortably, finally) in a city infected with zombies by killing them with an ax, it is too boring. 🙄 Maybe you are the ones who are in the wrong game... Perhaps it is your vision of the game that best suits an ArmA mod. And don't answer that DayZ "was born as a mod of ArmA", I know very well, but there are mods and mods. You have to choose a direction, an idea and follow it well. I don't know what the ArmA2 MOD wanted to be, nor what it really became... I just know that when I bought "DayZ SA" (DayZ Standalone! NOT the ArmA MOD!) It was advertised as "a sandbox where you have to survive in a world killed by a pandemic ", and when I started, despite the flaws and the bullshit it was pretty good too... but now the management seems to be in a game more and more of War... and more and more absurd and more and more" unbalanced "(when you allow only a very few" lucky ones "to have exclusive use of the best equipment, as cheaters and dupers were not enough), because this is if these weapons can only be found within these infected areas which, from what I read (also in the videos of those who are playing this 1.14), they are almost impossible to reach for all the rare and very weak equipment you must have and the "almost immortal guardians" that will magically appear with each GAS explosion... a sort of "invincible aliens" that "will rain from the sky as the GAS" to defend the upper booty. What kind of a game has this become?!? But do you really like this bullshit?!? I really don't know if I will play forward... I'm just sorry I tried it, because I will have a bitter taste in my mouth of a good game with so much "wasted" potential in inability to fix it and in bullshit to ruin it... This proves that you are incapable of creating a real survival game with any specific difficulties, not a war jumble with armies, weapons and bombings ... it's a whole other kind of game. That's why I love to go back to Battlefield, which in its genre (War) is much better done and is much more balanced, functional and fun. P.S. Don't make the apology for modded servers, which are often even worse for nonsense and bullshit...

If you are thinking about buying DayZ, please understand cars have been broken for many, MANY years now. And BI has done little, if anything, to fix them. The videos posted all in this thread shows you the CURRENT state of vehicles and the state has been current three years and going. But hey, you can carry animal carcasses now.... -

We have been steadily growing and have just wiped for 1.14. Come grow with us! We wanted to create a server that catered to more of a casual player that wants Q.O.L mods but isn't a complete easy mode server. We do have a lot of mods on the server but each mod we selected serves a purpose to enhance the players DayZ experience. If you look at the mod list, most of them only do or add 1 or 2 things to the server. For example; Build anywhere helps loosen some of the building restrictions that vanilla DayZ implements. Code lock and C4 help balance raiding, Care Package helps to bring players together on the map. A few clothing items to round out the loot table. You get the idea. -Custom Static "Loot Crates" for Military, Industrial and Coastal towns. (Loot Scaled accordingly) -Faction's system (Create a Faction, join a faction, or be one of the faction-less!) -Custom clothing. weapons and weapon re-skins made for our server. -We have removed the weapon restriction's so people cannot horde all the good weapons. You should be able to find something to defend yourself. -Heli-Crash Sites, Locked Loot Crates and Toxic Zones have some of the best and most rare items. Heli-Crash Sites have also been increased. -We do not plan on adding any weapons to the server that are more powerful than a .308. We also will not be adding heavy armor in an effort to keep game play balanced.- We do plan on adding a few more guns to round out the loot table. -Nights are only 20 minutes long but they are dark. Keep that flashlight handy. -It will never rain on here. -Street lights illuminate the towns at night to make it easier to navigate. -Player Run Economy via Trader Plus with an integrated Bank system. Both traders share the same inventory. -Black Market Trader to offer a risk rewards variable. -You can only buy items that other players have sold! -Vehicles spawn as they normally would and can only be sold and purchased from the Novo trader if someone else has sold one. -We have increased stamina on this server. -The server is first person only. -We have a map that shows your current position and where the drops are coming down. -Party mod so you can easily find your friends. -

Love the DayZ Team, Socials, Dev & Management. But when you have a Console version of the game for well over a year now & no ones thought, why not just make vehicles client side on Console as console players cant use client side calculations to implement hacks. I can understand if Console just couldn't handle said calculations & a reluctance to fix a problem for a portion of the player base & not the others. But surely delivering on a feature promise for even a portion of your player base is better than none?
