Vehicles shouldn't be rare. Let the experiment continu.
Dickhat replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles aren't worth at all for me. They attract to much attention, get blown very easily, get stolen all the time, you have to find parts to repair, hard to drive in towns, have to stop on places to fill up the gas. It's just a really big chore. The concept is cool but there are just way too many ways to lose what you worked hard to achieve and it's just not worth it. The most fun you can have in this game is running along the shore talking to random people and killing bandits. The best part of DayZ is the first hours when you are completely new and out of gear, unafraid of losing stuff and you can actually go and interact with people. Having things - cars even more - makes you cautious and retracted and thus more prone to KoS other players. You don't wanna lose your car, of course, that means you will take less risks. I don't really know what could be done to solve this. These are just some thoughts I had from my play time so far. Cars are not worth the trouble. -

Hint: You suck at hiding vehicles. Our group keeps them for ~15 days on average. As to the OP, rarity is good. If they weren't rare, they wouldn't be precious; and if they aren't precious, people will have no reason to risk their lives acquiring and defending them. Keeping them rare gives veteran players a scarce and precious commodity over which to fight and vie for control and dominance. It's the only end game we have. It gives us reason to hunt for 90 minutes at the end of every night for that perfect hiding spot because you don't want to use the same one twice. Take it away and all we will really have left is murder; and people seem to feel we've got enough of that around already. And trust me just because you don't see them doesn't mean they're not being tested. -
fun hacker encounters: 1) hacker teleported next to us, we had 3 vehicles, i was on Atv and my friend was in V3S nearby and last one was in Pickup truck. Hacker started blasting off with some silenced submachine gun, killing driver in a Pickup truck instantly. When i noticed the guy in a Ghillie suit i backed off a little and got out of my Atv to take the guy out, while he was still shooting Pickup truck and destroying it. I had him on my sight and headshot him atleast 10 times from DMR (i saw blood marks from his head), my other friend on V3S truck ran him over and his body flew backwards 10m, still the guy didnt die and just killed us. 2) hacker teleported everyone do the International Hotel roof in Cherno, some players were just running off the roof edge, not realizing where they were :D, but as that place has no alternative way down, you had to jump off anyway, unless you wanted to wait for a miracle chopper. (also 2 friends were in the bus when the hacker striked, and they were safe, maybe being in a bus has immunity to teleportation script) :P

Is having hacked weaponry bannable?
krtshv replied to Charlizard's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
No, we would not. Because a player who's not a complete and utter retard, would not pick up a weapon he's not supposed to. I've found hacked weapons, I've found obviously hacked vehicles, yet I never touched the hacked in weapons or vehicles. -
DE 969 Admin BattleEye ban abuse

You are a total moron. I wasn't even in the game!! - you had the whole server to yourself. I banned all of you from simply monitoring rCon in the MS DOS panel from my note book. Theres no way of telling from there what gear / vehicles you had got... All I know is that you was NOT on the server for "Hours" you was all on the server for "minutes" and you claim to have got a Helicopter, ATV's, Fuel and repairs in that time... GO JUMP. It was your duplicate GUID's and spam logins that got you banned. YOU DUG YOUR OWN HOLE NOW SIT IN IT. NO MORE REPLIES FROM ME >> YOU ARE CHEATS & BANNED. GOOD DAY TO YOU. /wave -

More vehicles and less weapons is what I would like to see. -
I've played for 3 weeks now. I've been teleported by a hacker once, which I just aborted off the server and logged back in where I was before the teleport. Seen evidence of them only one other time outside of that where he teleported into our camp and started launching m203 grenades everywhere. He killed no one, but did blow up vehicles.

So yeah, last night I was on US1102 raiding Stary Sobor and I found car. Looks like all it was missing was a few tires. So I headed north to search for supplies. I start walking through the field, and I notice what looks like a bus. I walk over to it, fully expecting to get sniped, but low and behold nothing happens to me. I hop in the driver's seat and notice that the bus is fully repaired and has 3/4 of a tank of gas. So, whoever you are, thanks for the bus! I'm not sure who left it in the middle of a field, but I sure did appreciate it. Ran all over the map all night last night with it. While it's not the best vehicle for driving, it was a lot of fun since it's only the 2nd vehicle I've ever found. To those unlucky folks who can't find vehicles, it guess it's all about being in the right place at the right time. Now we'll see how long I can keep this thing before I get sniped. ;)

Okay so I've begun server hopping ALOT for server action wich is sad, I want to stick to a server but I try avoid camping at the NWA and I dont want to stick to the south border to kill newbies, I wont. Guuuuuhhh getting bored to my ass here.. I wanna find players in towns to it gets exciting but never do.. I don't want to run for vehicles I don't want to build a base since there's no players around and I can't be online all the time to guard the shit. I want to find players on a regulary basis in towns to keep it interesting but there's none. (Can't waitn for more implements) So what are you guys doing when you are bored to death in this game?
-
It is only on the server it is placed on You must select the Save Tent option to save the contents If your tent is flatted/blown up/attacked by rabbits, it will reappear on server reset. If you place a tent, you can pick it back up as long as you have not died. (might be bugged as I could pack someones tent at a camp I had never been too yesterday) Anyone can loot your tent, so try to hide it. Vehicles same thing with the save option but if they are destroyed, they wont reappear after a restart.(will also lose any items inside when they are blown up)

Truth. This game is so much fun when you come across a vehicle and can ferry all your pals to the same location. Hoarding vehicles just ruins the server for everyone else.

DE 969 Admin BattleEye ban abuse
AADiC replied to William T. Farley's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Perl, some advice for a fellow SA: Post the logs showing the short period of time that they were on. This will show that they are no legit acquiring so many vehicles in such a short period of time. You, not the player are assumed to be the bad person here, as can be seen by Viiking's post. The forum community only reads what they want to in the post and skips the rest, as Viiking did. -
Is having hacked weaponry bannable?
suspense replied to Charlizard's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
No it cant, read the battleye website http://www.battleye.com/support.html Clearly states you wont be banned for using hacked items or vehicles, only for spawning them. Thats just a completely wrong attitude towards it. Day Z stated the rules, you dont have the right to take away the ability for anyone to play, unless they are clearly hacking. If everyone did as you did, a lot of people would have trouble playing because hackers spawn weapons on everyone on the server. Its not up to you or any other admin to bend the rules Rocket put in place. -
only real endgame is when you have a group of survivors, go on 'missions' to gear up new members, help other players in the medical thread, scout for vehicles etc.

Trading some high tier stuff (AS50, NWG, L85 AWS, Rangefinder, Antiboitics...) for vehicles european servers

How to you plan to trade vehicles if they are server restricted. If someone offers one with a high ping on their side. Then its not going to be fun for you, -
Hey there survivor people of Chernarus, here, are some helpfull tips to start you off on the right track! PLEASE remember this is MY way of playing, and i think it is a fair way to play, and these tips always work for me :) So please don't hate. If anything, suggest more useful tips to me and i will add them in, or if you feel one is incorrect or misleading, please approach me in a appropriate mannor :) Thanks and i hope these help! :) 1) Don't trust nobody. Infact if they have a weapon, and you do, kill them before they kill you, but only if YOU feel like they are a threat, You should watch them a little, make sure they are not tailing you, and if they are, take them out before they take you out( Thanks Bitey! ). ( Thats how i feel and it works just fine. ) 2) Choose your routes wisely, i don't suggest just wandering all around in the cities ( Elektro, Cherno ), keep to the outside looting areas ( Cherno: Apartment block, hospital, military tents, i always find an AK there, and also some of the little wooden shacks good for any civilian goods. Elektro: The 2 firehouses, excellent place to maybe find a decent fire arm early on :), the grocery store, and also little houses on the outside good for civilian loot. Some are enterbale some are not. ) These routes always start me off on a good track, if i go into the city's i'm normally killed unarmed by some asshole. 3) NEVER SWIM...Unless you REALLY have too. ( If you swim, you will loose your backpack AND your primary weapon.. ) 4) Always try to find a compass or a map. I preferably like the compass alot better, because not all servers will show you were you are on the map. ( I think it should stay that way, for more realism :) ) 5) Hunting: Things you will need; Hunting knife, Hatchet, Matches and a poor hopeless animal. First off you will need to execute the animal, a cow will offer around 8 Raw meat slices, a Lamb around 5, and the others i am not sure off :o. After that you will need to gut the animal with your Hunting Knife ( Right click on it inside inv and select Gut animal ). After that collect the meat slices and get to the closest tree/forest. Now you will need to right click on your hatchet next to a tree and select Harvest Wood ( You can also find wood piles from loot areas. ). Now that your wood is in your inventory, make sure the area around you is safe from players, because the fire will also acumulate some smoke. Now you want to right click on your matches in your inventory and select Make Fireplace. After the animation you will notice a small firepit on the ground, you now need to select it and click on Light Fire. Now all you have to do is select the fire and click on Cook Raw Meat. This will automatically cook all of the raw meat slices in your inventory. When you are finished put out the fireplace by selecting it and pressing Put Out Fire. Now you can either take the wood, or just leave it there. And there you go! You now know how to hunt properly in DayZ :) ( Also: Meat will also add some blood to your blood level, so if you are solo, and have some meat, just fill your face with meat, and you will be back to full blood in no time! :) ) 6) Getting away from multiple zombies. I find the best way to get rid of a lot of zombies, is to run into a building that has 2 entrances, to first let them come in a little, and then just crouch out the back and away from the building. ( You should also try your best to kill zombies with something silent like a silenced weapon or a hatchet. Thanks Zack4209! ). This always works for me, but i only do it when i am low on ammo, or i just simply don't want to fire my weapon in the town/city. 7) Engaging players. If you are in the north, and i'm talking about well populated areas like the Sober's and the NWAF ( North West Airfield ). I would highly suggest taking out ANYONE you see, nobody sits behind the tents in Stary Sober to make friends, they are there to pick off helpless noobs looting the tents. I would suggest checking ALL the treelines around Stary before going for the tents. Try not to panic if you see a player, when you see a player, you will be scared and it is heart racing. But you can not just fire away at him, you need to make sure you have a good angle on him, and when you have a sure-shot location take him/her out! Also make sure you add a couple more bullets to him, just to make sure you kill him ( Because we all know there are all the faggot alt-F4ers out there who can't take a death like a man.. ). It is the same in the NWAF, make sure there is nobody around in the hangers, barracks, treelines or anywhere. The NWAF is very dangerous, and there is alot of PvP action there! 8) NEVER let your guard down. Always check your corners, and everything around you, try not to run out in open areas, stick to hidden areas like treelines and such. Use the 3RD person to your advantage to look over walls, and see around the corners of buildings, and i would suggest using first-person in combat situations so you don't have trouble aiming. You are safe no where, you don't know were anyone could be, so be careful out there. 9) Flares and Smokes. Flares will attract zombies at night, they are a good way to lead them away from the location you are trying to get to, but you also have to remember, that flare will light you the HELL up and around the place you are in, this is what bandits look for, just so they can snipe you and loot your gear. Smokes are good for daytime to attract zombies, but they are also good to get out of sticky situations, like being cornered in a hanger at the NWAF by a sniper in the treeline, you can easily throw a couple of smokes in the front and run around the back away from the snipers line of sight. Be careful with the smokes though, because they sometimes agro zeds towards you for some reason :/. 10) Crashed Heli sites. A crashed heli site is self explanatory.. but it also has some of the best and rarest gear in the game! Things like the M107, AS50, NVG, L85A2 AWS and alot more! Approaching the crash site is the hardest part, you need to make sure there is no one around or that nobody is watching you. there can also be around 10 Zombies to spawn, so make sure you get alot of headshots so you're not being chased around! ( Thanks Fraggle: Use smoke grenades to draw the zombies away from the Heli, and then you can make your move! ) Most of the time, it will be looted sadly ); But if you get lucky you might find yourself the gun of your dreams! 11) Bleeding, Shaking, Coughing, Blood bags, Epi-Pens ad morphine. When you are bleeding you need to apply a bandage ASAP, you can tell when you are beeding by either seeing a stream of blood coming out of your body or see a (+) sign on your blood metre ( The drop on the bottom right above your hunger level. ) this will stop the bleeding and you can then either receive blood transfusion from another player, or nom on some meat! Shaking, If you are in first person and notice some vigerous shaking, you need to take some painkillers, they are not hard to find and you will also spawn with one set of them! Coughing, I am not sure what coughing meens for sure, but i'm pretty sure it means you are sick, and you will need to take some Anti-Biotics otherwise you will soon slowly start to loose blood. Blood Bags, Blood bags are for giving blood transfusions to other players, or you can give them one, to transfer blood to you. This will fully restore your blood! Epi-Pens, Epi-Pens are vital in a firefight, these will need to be applied to knocked out players and it will give them the ability to get back up with out having to wait for the timer to go down.Morphine. Morphine is used to fix broken legs, to either yourself or others, make sure you have alot of these, because this game is still buggy, and leg braking can occur at the randomest times, to see if you legs broke, you will see a Snapped leg on the side of your HUD on the right. You can only crawl with a broken leg but you can crouch if you stay still. 12) Looting. Their are 4 different kinds of loot; Military, Industrial, Residential, Farm. Military are high tier areas to find good Tier 2 weapons like the M24 sniper rifle, AK/74u/74/M and various other rifles. Industrial is mainly to find parts and gasoline for vehicles, things like; Engine parts, Scrap Metal, Jerry Cans, Car wheels and more. Residential looting areas are in towns and cities, they hold all of the basic necessities like food, drinks, hunting gear, pistols ( M1911, Makarov, Revolver. ) and some rifles/shotgun ( Lee Enfield, Winchester, Double-Barrel Shotgun ). Farm areas are good to find some low tier rifles like the Lee enfield and the Winchester, but also can spawn a CZ 550 hunting sniper rifle, Jerry Cans, Crossbow and now Bear Traps. -This is also kind of related to tip N.2 This is my favourite video for a awesome loot guide for Elektro, Made by Sacriel42. Link: http://tinyurl.com/75pmmtj Chernarus map ( DayZ ) With all loot locations! Link: http://tinyurl.com/cl8jz5e 13) Weapons; Whats good, and whats not. All weapons in DayZ are awesome, Why? Because they kill shit! But there are some things that can change in the guns that can make a big difference wether you are fightin zombies or players, things like Sound, Range, Spread, Recoil. A good example is the M107 and the AS50 both are rare and tier 3 sniper rifles, both with the same power, but I prefer the AS50 because it is so so so quiet to players, the recoil is very small, and the Zeroing is alot further. Same with the DMR and the M24, The M24 is alot more accurate and has a farther zeroing range, Yet the DMR is stationary at 400M and is better for closer range, but also has a magazine of 20 rounds, while the M24 is 5 per clip. Pistols also have a big difference, The Magnum is a 1 hit kill but same with the M1911, The M1911 has a 7 round mag, yet the magnum has a 6, and they both have reversable ammo to fit either pistol ( Right click on either M1911 Mag or .45 ACP ammo to exchange either way. ). Next is the Lee Enfield and the Winchester 1866, They are both good starter weapons, some people prefer the Enfield some people prefer the Winchester, I myself prefer the Enfield, The ammo is alot more common and it is also a one hit kill at almost any range ( Zombies are, Not too sure about players, but when i get a kill with the Enfield it is mostly one shot with it. ) The Winchester has a spread because of it's use of slugs, which makes it a low-medium range for one hit kills. And i find the ammo is alot more rare for some reason :o. Please comment if you want to know about more weapons! 14) A friend. Someone you need, someone who will be there for you, this is the best thing you can have in DayZ. Playing solo is fun and all, trying your best to rely on yourself, instead of feeling like you need someone with you to take care of yourself. But having a friend is very handy, They can spot for you, help you when you are bleeding/passed out/low on blood. I think the best part is that they can watch your back, while you take out that bandit over there. Please comment if you found this usefull, if you think i should change soemthing, or if you think i am wrong at some parts. But please ask me nicely to change otherwise i will just ignore you. Sorry if their are other posts like this, i just felt like helping out the DayZ community! See you around! Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info
inch replied to Vipeax's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Hi Vipeax, I don't like bothering the team, do you have a update on how the 1.7.2.5 patch is going? A rough date on the release, it seems its been pushed back. Secondly are you aware that vehicles are not saving correctly? See: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/39441 Cheers! :) -

Banned from US 1023 to "check logs"
Alphabeta replied to jameskp's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Like I've said before. There are no other bans that we have placed besides the default bans.txt list. As well, Rocket encourages clans to host their own server to call it home. You sure know that when you're entering a clan server that they'll have some decent camps setup with multiple vehicles. I certainly go around to clan servers and enjoy a challenge of finding those tents and looting them. This is part of the game. Enjoy a challenge. I'm not quite sure why you're still complaining. In the logs it appeared as though you had teleported to that location as there was no previous movement with the character with a HUGE jump in distance between logins. It was extremely odd to land a heli in a secluded location FAR from any location and then be killed upon exiting the heli. With DayZ servers currently being bombarded by hackers that do similar things it's hard not to speculate. A temp ban was set and literally after 5 minutes removed. Feel free to play on the server. James' ban was removed as well. This thread can be closed. -
Adding Arma II OA Objects to DayZ on Private Server?
Thiefnuker posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hello survivors! I'm hosting a private DayZ (NOT synched with the Hive) Server, and now my friends and me want to get a BMP-2 in it. I've already seen people driving around with tanks and shooting with rocket launchers on their server, so yes it is possible. I do NOT plan to do this on official servers or whatever, it is just for me and my friends on a non-synched server (Yes i already mentioned it :)) I've already added a lot of vehicles to it, that already existed and it worked, just the objects that didn't exist yet just wont spawn. Is anyone here experienced and has a few minutes to show me how that works quickly? I'd appreciate your help very much since i spent already 13 hours on that without any kind of success. Greetz, Thiefnuker -
I'm the admin of US 1313, and I will answer all questions in PMs. I will say to my knowledge Karou or whatever his name is has not run any unknown scripts, but this lead poisoning person I do not know much of. I don't think I've seen much of him.. I will look into this for sure. The camp you found north of the NEAF was indeed my groups, and has since been moved since that raid. No one was hacking, as you saw since your buddy was able to kill all 3 of us. It's called voice communication and having people in the area who were on teamspeak that could login. We're not new to this game. As far as the item duping, there is NO duping going on that's happening intentionally. I will explain for two reasons. One: When you have 10 to 15 players in your squad playing together every day all using one camp. you're going to see a massive return on items. Also, there is no way for us NOT to dupe all the time. If you do not know, there is a massive bug with how the hive is saving things. For example, place a tent, and put your weapon in the tent. Save the tent. Then take your weapon out a couple hours later. At the server restart, you will have that weapon still in your hand, and another one in the tent since it's not saving properly(I hate to tell people how to do this but this is well known now so..) If the server ever goes down, and does not return within 5 minutes, it was NOT a restart as I have never taken this server down intentionally for multiple hours. I reset the server once every 6 to 8 hours for stability purposes. I've also shut down the server during a hacker attack(So we could take care of them, and spare the rest of the people playing from needless deaths due to some no life kids) but it was promptly restored within 5 minutes give or take. One more thing: The green ural like vehicle, is called a v3s, and it's a legitimate vehicle. Look it up please. As far as I know, that is not our vehicle. And vehicles are not saving properly either. If you take a vehicle, and DO NOT save it, it will be back in it's original saved location, which was our camp, which is why the vehicles always returned there. I'm sure others will relate to this if they see this thread. Durpee: That amount of zombie kills does nothing to indicate a hacker. I've had characters alive for only 12 hours or so with 500+ zombie kills. If there's no one on the server, and you're bored...you end up shooting plenty of them. Anything further, please take to PMs with me. I'd be happy to describe and explain that exact situation you're referring to(the firefight at the camp), and I'd even do it on teamspeak with you. Just to further assure you there is no one in my group doing anything illegitimate, and if I find out they are, they will be removed.

Plane crash/shipwreck beggining? No items to start with?
im123 replied to A-E-I-OWN-U's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You should just have 3 factions in this game - Russian Airborne Troops (VDV), US Marines and civilians (Chernarussians). You should, when you respawn, spawn as one of the factions at random. If you spawn as the VDV - you spawn in NW of map, you could also have an an-72 or mil-26 crash site (no loot). The VDV would have the skins we have now: their mission was to recon the US invasion of Chernarus and they would claim, if caught, that they worked for a US PMC. The US Marines would spawn on the south beach: in the ideal i'd like to see several burned out AAV's or choppers on the beach, which can't be repaired and have no loot(too much loot in the game as it is). The US marines where invading Chernarus (I didn't play Arma 2 or Arma 2 OA, except the first mission) and got into this mess (you where ambushed). They should have different skins (as an example - desert camo as a starter). Finally, the civilians - you spawn on the center or NE of the map. You have civilian clothes (look at a civilian zombie and you see what I mean). The key point - you start with the same equipment!!! As the VDV soldier - your plane or chopper (an-72 or mil-26) crashed and you bailed out at the last minute. As a US marine you where on a chopper or AAV and you where shot down before the infection spread. And as the civilian you have always been in Chernarus. You could add before you spawn 20 seconds of darkness with certain sounds playing sounds: like a plane crashing for the VDV, an ambush for the US marines and farming (or whatever sounds or music you use to represent a quiet village life). What I am recommending doesn't add loot spawns or anything else, just some setting to the game. Right now it feels like you've awakened on a strange island with zombies and have to survive. It would be best if the South of the map had (aside from civillian spawns) only US military spawn (incl. vehicles), the NW and some of the center - Russian military spawns. Civilians spawns (weapons and vehicles) appear everywhere, however you have a much higher chance of finding civ. loot in the center and NE of the map. In the perfect world I'd like an An-72 spawn south of the airfield (just a plane crash, bodies, metal ripped etc - little left of the plane), 2-3 AAV (can't be repaired, no loot) nearby each other on the South beach with signs of heavy combat and, maybe, old WW2 trenches in the center of the map in the Black Forest (say civilians survived there during the initial outbreak). All of this would give you a plot, which you could work with. The key point - no new equipment, no new loot spawns and the same starting equipment for everyone. Comments, questions, hating - GO.
