    Dynamic zombies spawn rates

    Give the zombies and your interactions with zombies more capability of just punching as well. Quicktime grabs Ideas from left 4 dead: >Breakable doors and large windows >Damage to repaired vehicles sets off alarms Ability to knock zombies away with assault rifles and shotguns if they come too close Stealth kills with a hunting knife if you sneak up on a zed or player and adds a new element to sneaking >Stealth kills on players probably need a 1-2 second delay to prevent people from just sprinting behind someone, press crouch and spam the button for the one-hit kill. >Zombies, while unable to kill from one shot unless already injured to an extent, will do more damage and injuries if they grab you from the rear. If fire is expanded on in the standalone, Zombies that are caught aflame by an explosion or flaming weapon (flamethrower / torch if ever implemented) can set fire to people / certain buildings. Barns in particular are extra vulnerable to flame. Whether zeds can be killed by the flame or simply depends on how long it takes to reduce the flesh to ashes is unsure.

    ^ The above 2. I have a few vehicles that are banned I wanted to see in, but certainly nothing broken like that. I was more interested in a chinook as a ambulance chopper and things of RP nature... An A-10 or Apache is ridiculous.

    Some of these ideas are good, But a plane? Kinda disfigures the original idea of Dayz. The community has to try all it can i suppose for a better player experience but what's the point? no zeds threat and OP vehicles and weapons it may just as well be another seperate Arma 2 mod.

    Vilayer server few questions .

    I'm currently running a private server to test all the things out , and of course mainly that would be the vehicles - so i dont get any overloads with the server it works just fine with 5-6 people on it . Still , except for the cars which i'm awaiting response from support right now to this matter ( and yes I already received one answer so their support works too :) ) I've got another strange thing going on the server , well at least i haven't seen anything like that anywhere else it seems . The spawning of stuff inside the houses is strange , I mean most of the spawn appears only when you run into the place and wait few minutes around - when you aproach a new city , it's empty for a few minutes and slowly fills with loot. Is that like that for all the servers or something outstanding ?
  8. Lol its not a simulation if you hive wipe because you cant get geared/suck at getting vehicles. Its a hardcore game which is sadly intended for a casual farmville trash community. If it was a simulation, your guy wouldn't run for 50m straight without getting tired. You wouldn't survive 8 m9/g17/revolver/m1911 rounds to the chest. and a revolver does damage. People wouldnt kill eachother in elektro anywhere near as often as in game. you wouldnt repair a vehicle by finding some random ass tubing and a tool box. supplies would be much more scarce. people (at least survivors) would be much smarter and just run into a city popping off gunfire. I can go on, but if you think this a simulation you are a fucking imbecile. Your an imbecile because you dont understand the concept of simulation or you dont get the concept of hardcore, get either one right.

    Well helicopter do spawn for me that's already something , but I'm sure that the core of the little to no spawns is that minimal amount of vehicles you can set , I've literally found almost every spawned car from the logs so far - might be that only skoda didn't yet spawn anywhere . And yes eventho I do not need to change the difficulty level , I don't have any option on drop down box as well . Also guys who could set more on lingor server could it be that it's something to do with the amount of slots on server ? Cause maybe that 40 spots I have is too low ?
  10. This is a story of a moment which was all too perfect, if I had a sniper rifle or something at the time, it may have been a bit more successful, none the less, I had a great time. So! After recently returning to this game I hopped on to a server, looted around a bit till I got a Lee Enfield not long after picking it up I spotted a player running straight towards me, I noticed he was armed so I took aim and fired, 3 shots later he was down, quickly picked up his binoculars and AKM (300m zeroed) and took off. Around thirty uneventful minutes later I watched the side chat of this server, two players were discussing trading vehicles.. I kept a close eye on the conversation, overtime I had a rough guess at where they might make the trade so I began my run towards the north easterly side of the map. There was only 6 players online in the server, team of two, team of three and myself. I hadn't said a word so they must have felt comfortable with saying the trade location. 'Meet at the gas station on the road heading north out of Polana'. The race was on, I was running blind without a map, but in the general direction I figured was Polana. I was racing against a tractor+an ATV that were starting from the north west. Around 10 minutes later, I found a sign by a road which said something in Russian, for whatever reason I thought it said Polana, I was right! I ran within the treeline of the road until the trees stopped suddenly into a bare field. Zombies were right in front of me, it scared the hell out of me IRL but I slowly crept back in the treeline when I noticed that the zombies were from a gas station. I checked my compass and the road was heading north/south. This is it! I followed the tree line west and then south so I could get a perfect view of the road, granted, it was 1000m~ away. I could see the bus and the tractor facing each other. The player with the tractor was very nervous about the trade as the players with the bus took a long time choosing a location to trade (setting up overwatch for sure!), although they explained it got a flat tyre. I carefully scanned the edge of the treeline I was in, no one watching from here. I watched as the player with the tractor try and fix the buses tyre. When I was finished looking through my binoculars I pulled out my AKM and began taking pop shots, instantly the reaction from the tractorman popped up on sidechat 'WTF DONT SHOOT!' I could see a small figurine running around the bus as I continued to spray into the bus. After I expended around 20 bullets I began running for a new position, all the while laughing irl. I spotted a small shrub/tree line heading east back towards the road, I went prone and began to make my slow way forward when I saw on the chat 'wth cant believe u took this long to double cross me', as I finished reading that I watched a tractor flying down the road towards Polana. That was the end of that trade. I continued to make my way slowly down towards the bus, after 15 long minutes I got within good view of the bus as I lay inside a bush near the road. I waited.. and waited.. getting pretty tired irl.. no one had come to the bus.. so I made my move, I ran to the bus noticed I couldn't check its gear (later found out you had to be a passenger), disapponted, I ran on the side of the bus and shot out every tyre when suddenly other shots rang past me, I had no idea where, but I knew I had been beaten. Patience was key! I died, not disappointed whatsoever as I couldn't have imagined a better way to go. Thanks to the players in this scenario! TL;DR: I had fun! Do you have a perfect bandit moment?!

    Vilayer server few questions .

    This could have something to do with Bliss having chopper spawn bugs. They fixed it now btw, so maybe its a matter of time before Vilayer follows. As far as i know, they are using Bliss server software :) correct me if im wrong another thing to remember is, if you set it to 30 vehicles, you will NOT get 30 vehicles at once. All vehicles have x% spawn chance, so if your REALLY unlucky, you can wait a loooooong time for vehicles. Dunno how the Vilayer guys do it, but if they run the vehicle script at EVERY server restart, you could restart the server 10+ times to get your vehicles.

    Vilayer is creating theyre own version of Takistan, so its completely up to them. They arent gonna release the code any time soon and it would appear they have added some of the "banned" vehicles from dayz :) Never had vilayer so i cant tell you, but it seems that how its working.
  13. In Arma characters had place holders so groups could add logos to their arm bands. In DayZ it only works on some vehicles. I'd love to see it integrated into DayZ properly though. Until then you'll just have to rely on good communication.

    Locks can't stand up to bullets. Always liked the idea of camo netting or some type of car cover to help hide vehicles from players. I also like the idea of gathering branches to place around the vehicle to make it a little harder to spot.

  16. You cant expect a "sandbox" game like this to have incredible amounts of endgame. Take minecraft for example, its exactly the same "idea" behind the two games. Install, and go create your own game. I will agree we need more features, to allow us to truely create our own game, but you cant expect a sandbox game to have alot of endgame content mate :) it has never been like that and will never be in this genre hehe. However, it would be great to have stuff like: - Creating different kind of buildings and underground complexes - More different vehicles, i mean where are the police cars, firetrucks and ambulances gone? medical chopper perhaps? - Like 100 more building "types", with different looks and different loot. - Rewamp the loot system and make EVERYTHING more rare. - Crafting of some sort really

    I want to play a game.

    I was thinking we could have a predefined spot that you have to make it to... Say, the bottom of the control tower. You let us know when you're there and we can give you the reward. Would just have to tell us what you want as a prize to make sure we have it. No tricks. Promise. But I do think with the 4 or 5 of us who play we could split up and do a pretty good job of searching... Multiple vehicles and such... It's worth a shot for us to see if it can even be done. Oh, and we would have to coordinate in voice chat, you would have to stay logged in the entire time, and based on running speed you would have to make it to the NWAF no quicker than a predetermined time so we know you didn't just start 200 meters away. Might have to have at least a starting city or something like that...

    50 Jerrycans?

    So, I finally managed to find an ATV on the server I frequent. Kind thoughts to those who parked it in plain sight along with the rest of their vehicles (a sedan and another ATV), just shy of the placed that should not be named. However, when I took it, it had a whooping 50 jerrycans in its storage, so I kind of suspect duping. So in order to keep my conscience, I'd like to ask how many jerrycans would be a realistic amount to steal from a low grade camp. Then I can dump the rest. I think I have seen around five cans in my career of DayZ, but then again I have not done a lot of industrial raiding. On a related note, I think that vehicles should despawn if they are not saved for a week. Then, people who are good at hiding them but quits a server will not accidentally deny the rest of us vehicles for life.
  19. Lack of endgame content [and when I mean endgame, I mean total endgame. You have in your possession at least one of every weapon, all high-value items, a helicopter and some of the better vehicles.

    How to instantly make dayz more fun

    I would also like to see more difficult Zeds along with Zombies being able to run, without bugging through walls and shit, in house's and being able to damage vehicles. Since I find myself jumping into cars to lose zombies. The high end gear I can live with and it adds to the game. PvP is something that makes this game that much more exciting so for all of you guys that whine about the PvP, go play on low pop servers were there is a lower chance of running into another person. One thing that I have been doing myself that I find enjoyable is not carrying a backpack at all. Just the food, drinks, and ammo that I can carry and nothing else. It adds a small touch. But I am one of those people that once dead either run or get picked up and taken to base camp and just get restocked. I tend to go one solo mission to Elektro and just try to run into people. Even if it means me getting shot I enjoy not knowing how someone will react to me. I am in a Hero skin and I love the skin but if I feel you are a threat to me I will shoot first. I'm not attached or think that I NEED the hero skin. Just how I play and my feel for the game. :)

    hey i got a quick question, my vilayer mod for my server is a Chernarus Private. everything you guys have experienced is what im experiencing. ive been to all the vehicle spawns in electro, cherno, and solnichny and no vehicles spawned anywhere. im not here for that, but do you guys have a problem setting the difficulty on the server? cause my drop down box wont show any of the difficulty levels. thanks.
  22. First off I just want to thank developers for creating a brilliant game! So few ideas are -punch/kick (when you spawn and have f all it would be cool if you could punch n kick, even if it does sod all damage, just adds to the realism and can give you vital seconds to escape chasing zombies if you crack them in the face!) -blowtorch, wire cutters etc (would be cool to be able to use a blow torch to weld perhaps metal fence poles/steel pipes etc on vehicles to create a deadly vehicle) -more interaction with environment (just to make it more realistic the ability to pick up stones/sticks, chairs in houses, even tear off planks of wood from small barns to make firewood etc) -player stats( to have a levelling system where ur ranked on kills, survival days,shot accuracy etc similar to cod games) -ability to combine items (so if you find a rag, petrol, empty bottle you can combine to make molotov, or if you find c4 old mobile phone etc make a bomb etc.) -zombie AI( this is what my least favourite thing is, would be cool to see them tryna grab you, bite you etc instead of all being generic swiping at you) ID friendlies( so once you meet other players you can add a tag to them so if you encounter then again it displays if they friendlies or bandits etc) Shovel. (would be good if you could find a bag and put stuff in it you don't need and be able to bury it for later by using shovel) Glass shard-( if you have no guns it would be sweet if you could smash a window and pick up a glass shard to use as a weapon, however If you don't have an 'old rag' or something you lose health whn u use it cos it cuts ur hand, unles u have a rag to combine with the shard to hold it). I'm sure I could go on forever as this tripe of game has no limits on the possibilities of expansion :) Great work guys!
  23. How about we change the default ArmA2 communication channels for the standalone. One of the major disadvantages with direct channel is, it's very dangerous to use in populated areas, even if you're talking to a friendly, anyone in a 200 meter diameter can hear you and come gunning for you and your new found best friend. Whisper channel: I'd like to suggest renaming one of the channels and change it's properties. We keep direct channel with it's current properties(100m voice and 40m text), but we change one of the remaining channels, rename it to Whisper channel and change the range, so you need to sit side by side, within 3-5 meters to read/hear the channel. To find other players, you have to enter populated areas, which means more chance of actually meeting someone and an equal risk of meeting bandits. This way when you're done yelling friendly, friendly, you can switch to whisper, to avoid drawing nearby bandits towards your peaceful conversation. When meeting strangers in DayZ, it usually takes a while to get the feel for the other player and if you're broadcasting your friendly intentions, for more than a short moment, your friendly conversations are often interrupted by sudden death. As a balance between good and evil, less friendly players can also go: "Pssst come over here in safe whisper distance" before they stick a Makarov into your ear and take your DMR from your cold, dead hands. Radios: I know Rocket has already talked about cell phones, but I was thinking more about radios. With radios you could offer both stationary CB radios and portable walkie talkies. CB radios might require, working and fueled generations to run, while walkie talkies, could utelize the same batteries used in laser designators. What I find appealing about radios is you can either head for a fixed known location, where you know for sure you can find and repair a radio, but that since these locations draw lone players looking for company, bandit snipers might stalk them for easy targets. Alternatively you can search high tier locations for more valuable portable radios, but aquiring them comes with an increased risk. Also if you're broadcasting from a stationary antenna, you never know, who's lisening to you, where they are, if they are friendly longing for another human voice or if they are trying to get you to reveal your location and are stalling you, while they are driving towards you in vehicles, armed with heavy weapons. With the walkie talie you're more mobile and less exposed, especially if we place CB radios on the top platform of radio towers. However if batteries are rare, you have to limit your usage and practise being short and consice in your transmissions. Maybe one battery has a couple of hours worth of life or they work like a weapon magazine, with 30-50 radio transmissions. When you select "turn on radio/walkietalkie" in your mouse menu, you get access to the radio channel and the radio start either consuming fuel for the generator or battery life. CB radios and walkie talkies could also allow more than one frequincy, if the engine allows it maybe five. At the moment ArmA provides six channels: Global, side, group, vehicle, command and direct. If three are reserved for whisper, direct and vehicle, maybe the last three could only be accessed with radios or if the engine allows it, add a few, so we have atleast five channels. What you think? tl/dr: I liek turtles.
  24. I know this should probably go in the server complaints, but I'm not really sure if this is against the rules, so I thought I'd post in general. Here on this server, I was banned for no good reason. They have a base off map where they HOARD *ALL* the vehicles. They'll be graceful and drop the yellow hatchback in Cherno sometimes, but thats it. When I tried to take a vehicle, the admin "Hush3r" teleported to me and killed me. He then promptly called me a, "faggot" for trying to take it. He banned me for a whole WEEK after that. One of his friends told me the coords and I went to check it out. I found it fair and square. One of the admins named Selvo constantly teleports everywhere to people and crossbows them to death. He even tried it with me. He died, thankfully, but I'm pretty sure its against the rules to teleport people to crossbow them. I've spent time in their vent and they've openly admitted to using hacker tools to view people's locations on the map so they can hunt them down and kill them illegitimately. They say that the dev team encourages the use of these "hacks," but I seriously doubt this. Does any of this sound to you guys like breaking the rules? Can I get the server shut down for this crap? I really like this server but they abuse way too much in my opinion. Their admins are: Hush3r, Selvo, Caliber, Carnivore and Jay-nic. They have a bunch of regulars they play with who cheat also.
  25. sorry, I mean "Server Hosts" in the topic. As I have tried at my server, BE (and also built-in DayZ anti-cheat system) could not detect ACR vehicles unless the server has installed the ACRLite patch. This means if the client who had installed ACRLite on his machine, he can spawned T-72s/Mi24s/BadAss vehicles without any detection! (if he can bypass the BE for local scripting, too) Server and BE will not recognize these vehicles as objects except the client who has install one will see them perfectly in game. Another who not install will see nothing, however, he still can be inflicted damage or killed by ACR vehicles' weapons. So, I think it is worth for server admin to install the ACR Lite patch for making the security tighten which the server side can now detect the new vehicles and weapons correctly.
