DiabloSP 0 Posted July 19, 2012 YES.Of course. IRL you can sense that. 10 seconds near anyone, you have a perception of him. Gestures, eyes, voice tone, there are plenty of signs IRL that you DO NOT EVER have in a game.Definetly yes.
hunterkilla 67 Posted July 19, 2012 YESIf we cant have a skin that shows us then something subtle, if your hidden and watching you can decide to let them walk on or not
Jaime (DayZ) 13 Posted July 19, 2012 No.Player actions like iron sighting, not responding to voice chat etc are already clear indicators of their intent.
Dramatic Exit 62 Posted July 19, 2012 YESWorth the experiment. If it doesn't work ditch it.Only issue is, most kills come from a mile off.
zyfer.nyholm@gmail.com 131 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) YESBut as others say, only if you look directly at them, and it doesnt give you the sound right away or else you could just scan a field and listen, and see through stuff basically.Im also in for blood and wounds, but how will that work with other skins like camo and ghillie? gotta think about that to Edited July 19, 2012 by Zyfer
tbartoli13@iskl.edu.my 13 Posted July 19, 2012 YESif it's pretty silent and you have to be close up,otherwise you can identify them too easily.
mogwaihawk 2 Posted July 19, 2012 YES!Additional ideas:- sound appears even if you don't look at them directly- bigger radius (like 50 meters or more)- some sound that blends in with the general sound you get from your surrounding- volume increasing depending on how near the bandit is -> 50 - 30 meters you can't actually hear it but on an subconscious level you notice it and start to feel unsafe
-MadTommy 367 Posted July 19, 2012 Yes.Murders equal low humanity i assume...But what equals good humanity? Helping others? What about bandits helping each other? That should not increase humanity levels..

DaveAzoicer (DayZ) 135 Posted July 19, 2012 YES.Thou, the range should be a lot longer then it is/was. It's impossible to notice a bandit unless he didn't notice you when you were scavenging. Ie. You're gonna die anyway. So then it's a useless feature.Thou, a sniper shouldn't be able to hear it unless he's at least 1-300 meters away maybe?
ukko (DayZ) 5 Posted July 19, 2012 No.People shoot you in 99% cases, even when goodie/baddie skins were enabled. Dunno how heartbeat sound make any difference.
perestain 33 Posted July 19, 2012 NOWe rather need a way to recognize that another player has chosen not to be a bandit.to initiate non-deathmatch-gameplay.----=> to ease the trigger-finger of those who would actually like to play coop but cannot afford to do it atm because everyone looks identical. perestain 33 Posted July 19, 2012 No.People shoot you in 99% cases, even when goodie/baddie skins were enabled. Dunno how heartbeat sound make any difference.Thats simply not true. I had at least 60% friendly encounters when bandit skins were enabled. Since they were disabled, 0%.I agree though that super low humanity detection will not help with the average encounter. Eatskittens (DayZ) 20 Posted July 19, 2012 NOWhen in the 27ms before you get shot are you going to be able to hear it.
alaaa 32 Posted July 19, 2012 NO.You are always dead before hearing the heartbeat. It's a nice complementary feature, but not a solution at all.

simjedi 43 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) No.Just like the example given in the video, tension comes from the uncertainty. That scene could have involved an 80 year old man with his grandson, and after they had a light hearted conversation the old man could have shot them in the back just the same. Alblaka 9 Posted July 19, 2012 Yes.But needs to work properly on distances up to 100m, otherwise it's probably useless.
Talon2000uk 30 Posted July 19, 2012 No wont work. Still no downside to murder. With no consequences people will still shoot on sight.
alaaa 32 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) No wont work. Still no downside to murder. With no consequences people will still shoot on sight.Consequences for murdering is against the spirit of the game, i'm more for facultative alternate skins for people with high values of humanity. stratblues24@hotmail.com 4 Posted July 19, 2012 NOSimply put: It will not solve the "Kill On Sight" that plagues the game.
thefonztm@gmail.com 86 Posted July 19, 2012 SOFT YES. Ideally:Not persistent.Heal-able. Ie. Tranfusions. Bandaging. Morphine.Also.Add ability for players to give thanks to each other that affects humanity. For less direct help. Ie. Killed zeds chasing/Killed bandits attacking me.
