Rocket is too busy being in over his head and failing to release patches in a reasonable timeframe.

Seriously though, there's been a lot of info about the standalone. Some has been mentioned above, lot's more has been talked about by the devs.

About a week ago it was over 200k players per day (around 220k IIRC?), now it's around 100-130k.

I don't understand why you'd even try to insinuate that isn't true, anyone who's ever bothered to look at the front page has noticed.

Yeah, 'homework', really?

And I guess no one bothered socialising during the holidays then?

He would insinuate that isnt true, because it isnt true. We have been 150k or lower for a month now. Not that thats a good thing like but yea. Dont be so worried ppl are jus waiting for the next patch. Its been this way since dayz began.

I just wish all the info that is known would actually be put up on the appropriate site. http://dayzgame.com/

New players wishing to acquire information on the stand alone shouldn't have time shift through posts and interviews just to find few facts about the game. They should just be able to go on the website and say oh alright this is more convenient. However, with the amount of repeated interviewer questions one could just simply watch or read any old interview and maybe get the information.

Shit, people act like they've never played a game in alpha before...

This is why alpha should be invite exclusive (to weed out the morons) and beta should be limited open with limited invites (to increase the player-base and also keep the morons out).

I see where your coming from but they've not really had time to confirm things and update the new website. They've gone straight from announcing the standalone to doing the whole conference/publicity thing. Now they're back thing's will be moving forward. Some people (like this threads OP) think Rocket has lost sight of the game or is chasing money but you only really have to read a couple of articles to understand where he's coming from.

On a related note, Rocket should stop doing the game-interview hybrid thing. A standalone interview would be more informative so long as the interviewers actually ask decent questions. Something like JP Mcdaniel's interviews

This is another interview with Dean Hall on IGN's Youtube show, Up at Noon that came out a few hours ago. Here's the link:

The interview starts at 7:30 into the video. Nothing revolutionary revealed, however he did bring up "The Hunger Games" event that was orchestrated about 10 days ago, and said he might contribute a specific build to those guys of DayZ. Honestly, I hadn't even heard of that event until now, and the idea sounds cool, but it sounded like from the few forum posts about it that it kind of failed.

Edit: Rocket saying that he was linking a BBC person to a 4Chan post on how to install it was hilarious. I did not like Greg's little rant leading up to it, though.

All I read was "I don't understand how business works!"

So I decided to leave a small comment and smash my face into a wall.

Toodles.

Too many people are getting worked up over video games here. Games are supposed to be entertainment. Why do we get so competitive, so stressed over a game?

Some basic facts of the world, young ones. Gather around if you will.

One, business works by putting people face to face every now and then. Even with the internet, companies like sending people to the same place to share ideas and show products and mingle. Conventions mean companies can have the press line up, and run through interviews, and they'll all ask the same questions, but release their articles and blogs and vlogs and different times so we think they're not learning from what others already asked. They didn't know. Besides, journalists get busy and can't read the competition's articles in detail all the time.

Any complaints about Rocket going to these conventionmend cause you can't raid an imaginary place for an imaginary sniper rifle to kill some imaginary player seem very silly, so please, relax and just let things happen as they happen.

Another important thing, since you are on this forum and able to play this mod...you are free to make choices. yes, you can choose to enjoy the game as is, choose to play a different game, or choose to go for a walk, take martial arts, eat half a roasted chicken, or any other thing you might like. No one owes you this particular game. You chose it. You can un-choose it if you are upset. That is the wonderful thing about free, somewhat democratic societies. We can choose our forms of entertainment, but at the same time, those who make the entertainment can choose to run their businesses as they wish. All we can do is find something else if we are not happy.

I am making chicken and honey butter carrots for dinner, just in case anyone wonders why I mentioned eating chicken as a choice, though half a chicken is a bit beyond my abilities. Still, leftovers of well made food are a fabulous thing. Randomness abounds!

There will be no leftovers Lauren, i shall be there at 6.00 pm sharp with my bean spoon..i don't do dishes though so if you have a fireplace we could just do it greekstyle and smash the crockery when we are finished. If you would like i can also bring some of that deliciously fresh and naturally unfiltered Lake Prud water.

Don't worry, I own a dishwasher. Load up the canteens, but watch out for bandits in the way. (one hit me with some sort of LMG in the middle of a forest today, and all I wanted was to field hop to find an animal to eat after a hard fought victory over the horde).

Yeah i understand they have been busy, things should start to move a little bit now. However one thing that really bothers me is that the website has the DayZ Development twitter on there and all that is being posted in interviews and such and nothing really about the standalone or mod itself.(Game wise) Also rocket has said and alot of people have said that some of the bugs in DayZ can only be fixed by going standalone, so what does that say about the mod? How is rocket going to continue developing the mod along with the standalone and use the mod as his testing zone if there are bugs that cannot be sorted out because of the arma engine?

One more thing : i also feel that rocket should just stop doing interviews for a while because alot of the things are being repeated over and over and the stuff that isnt like the small improvements with the patch and dogs should be discussed with the DayZ community. All he has to say is look ive been doing alot of interviews i have said all i can say about the next patch and ill do a interview with you on a later date when i have more progress on the standalone or the mod.

Stuff is only being repeated over and over if you keep going to different sites to read every available interview or article. As Lauren said, that's the nature of the beast when dealing with press. They all want their own personal interview when really there's only about 20 mins worth of information worth sharing.

With regards to the standalone or the future of the mod, apart from what you already know everything is just speculation so I can only suggest chilling out and waiting. Or all popping round to Lauren's for dinner.

Well, right now your fans are shelling out roughly $300,000/mo to promote your Alpha Mod. It's time to make something happen or we are going to take that money elsewhere.

This truely is an amazing concept for a game with a lot of potential. If you guys can release something that will lock out the script users, and at least fix the most important bugs - That shows us you are serious about providing a quality product to your potential customers.

If you release a patch in the near future and script users are still teleporting people 100 meters above cherno to fall to their death and we can still kill eachother by bumping into one another, well.....I think you are going to start seeing that $300,000/month finding it's way back into our pockets.

Wow, you made an account just so that you could speak for the whole DayZ community? Also, they're not my fans (WTF?), I'm just a moderator for a website.

Idle threats of taking your money elsewhere are pointless. Mod progression and the standalone release will happen when the devs are good and ready and not a moment sooner, regardless of your tears.

Yes Sir. It took me all of about 25 seconds. Impressive eh?

Also, they're not my fans (WTF?), I'm just a moderator for a website.

You are a representative of the game itself, are you not? Do you have no interest in it's sucess or failure?

Also, idle threats of taking your money elsewhere are pointless.

Idle threat? You think people are going to keep paying for the complete mess the Dev team has served up to the server providers? Do you even play this game? Idle? Do you even know what the term "idle threat" means?

Mod progression and the standalone release will happen when the devs are good and ready and not a moment sooner..

Obviously, I'm just pointing out that they may want to prioritize a little better. You know, because I would like to see them succeed.

..regardless of your tears.

What are you, twelve? Let me know when I can walk up a flight of stairs without breaking a random bone and I might think about shedding a tear for you.

Whilst I may not agree with who your talking to, although I understand his frustration, I would like to point at that you are part of the DayZ forum team and as such you represent those who are developing this mod/game.

All of your points would be valid if...This wasn't the Arma2 engines fault and not Dayz...Soooo......yaaaaaa. I'll pull the alpha card in the sense of saying, you are lucky to even get to play this game. Most alpha games are limited, give VERRRRYYYY little information due to NAD's, and yet they have 1million unique accounts, and have been giving out as much information as they can...So, hush.

My point being that I'm just a forum moderator. Of course I have opinions on the game because I am also a member of the community, the same as you guy's. My opinions are my own and are in no way endorsed by the devs.

We don't even know shit about the standalone. We don't even know if it will use the ArmA 3 engine or something else. We don't even know what the world will be like, what is new in it, and anything else. No one really says a thing about the standalone. Only thing we ever heard about it, is that it might be out before Christmas

You might want to watch and read the interviews with Rocket and Marek Španěl.

Start with youtube.
