I was finally able to log back on after a huge server browser mess-up. So anyways, I walked out of the warehouse I was in and saw a little cardboard box. Thing is, I'd never seen an openable cardboard box before.I thought,"probably nothing good in here, it's just a box" as I opened it. My jaw dropped. Inside was EVERY WEAPON AND ITEM IN DAYZ!!!!!! I squealed like a little girl, but I felt no shame. I was too excited. I took food, NV goggles, a rangefinder, radio, compass, map, gps, waterbottles, a mountain dew(yeah baby), a silenced m4, a silenced m9 and enough clips to last me, oh, three lifetimes is my guess. Right now, I think I'm in love with that hacker.

Also, would you consider this okay? Me taking all the gear I could carry, I mean.

I don't really agree with hackers mostly, I really hate the ones who go around killing people in god or teleporting everyone to them, Im ok with the ones who say spawn in a weapon or something small, but what you did is fine to me, because if you think about it "Big box with everything in dayz in it that i can take", I bet 99% of the dayz community would at least take one item.

As fun as it may be, knowlingly taking gear from hacked boxes can land you on global banlists. The admins on your server may one day come across the log and see you picking this equipment all up at once and he may (within his rights) ban you and forward it to the devs/battleye which could turn your little gifts into a curse.

If you see hacked boxes, do not touch them. Because if you do, the admins are WELL within their rights to ban you and escalate it to a global banlist.

If I checked my logs and saw you, you'd very much be added to both local and global files.

Be careful.

Its kinda bogus but can be lived with as long as what you took was readily availible elsewhere in the game

You might be able to see who picks up what from the ground though.

You bet your ass I can see it and will/have banned them after 5+ instances of code in succession. After doing some reseach, it becomes very easy to identify these instances and shut them down. I post EVERY ban to the http://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist and the forums.

I would not consider this 'okay'. I would personally grab one item though, a satchel, place it right on the box, then maybe wait a while to see, if the skiddie came back to the box. And you know.. Kuh-Boom. And hope he wasn't in godmode. Good riddance.

Now I am sure there are folks who have found and kept stuff, but it is nice to see some honor out in the real world in these situations.

My wife had a lost purse returned a long time ago, nothing was touched except her wallet, which was used to find her.

If they get a warning, and dont get rid of the weapon, the should/will be removed. Play the game the way it is supposed to be played. If you need to cheat to play the game, you shouldn't be playing it.

I don't ban for people for having banned weapons. I ban for spawning them or knowingly taking them. I message every person who gets "lit up" (multiple lines of code regarding its use or creation) and let them know that i am being being alerted by logs (most admit to seeing a hacker/taking his stuff) and that other admins may ban them if they keep carry it around. Most say thanks and drop it when they find any replacement.

I can and WILL ban for blatant usage after warnings. No one is being banned who unknowingly got a weapon off a hacker. But you come to my hood and I get 5+ lines in a row of you picking up specific weapons, you're getting banned and reported in one of my community/dev threads, as I've been doing since my server started. I give huge leeway to possible leads because there isn't a multitude of evidence. I want the innocent to enjoy the game and the community to grow as a whole. It is why I waste HOURS of my time reading up on the topics and keeping myself informed on how to deal/identify them. I wouldn't waste my time doing it if I didn't want the best for this game and its members.

Feel free to browse my bans. I'm sure you will see who and what I ban for.

Considering that 90% of people will do what you did, I don't really see a problem.

Servers get nuked, trashed and fucked on a daily basis; people looting spawned stuff is the last thing anyone should worry about (as long as the items are actually in the game).

I think it is wrong to take anything you know is hacked in, and I would server ban you if I was the admin. Personally, I don't take things I just suspect is hacked in.
