Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).

Recommended Posts

Consoles suck, games on them suck.

How are you going to have a semi-sandbox semi-MMO game FPS on a console? I laugh at your smooth aim. I can't take anybody who players FPS with a controller serious.

obviously arma 2 would not run on a console , but everyone is pretty sure the nexgen console will be released in the next year or the year after probally about the same time DayZ will be ready to be ported to consoles so if it can handle it sure why not, if you play a game designed for a console and complain it is shit on pc what do you expect, the point is that it is being made for pc so why should pc fanboys care if it goes to console

How many of you are going to jump in to the thread and post without actually reading first? You're question has been answered over and over already. Open your eyes and read. Quit being lazy.

Operation flashpoint & red river worked well on the xbox. Dont these games use the Arma 2 engine or something similar?

NO

They use the EGO engine which is the same one conmasters users for all their driving games, it was built for driving games.

Conmasters owns the Operation Flashpoint name only because they published OFP. They did not make it.

Depends what you determine the size by, the EU uses staff count and turnover to gauge the "Size" of an enterprise. The amount of games BIS have sold recently ontop of that past performances I wouldn't be surprised if their turn over launched them quite high up.

On top of that, they're both game companies... both companies are in the console and PC market. I'd be surprised if BIS didn't see this an opportunity to milk it and gave Rocket something nice and special to ensure he stayed with them for the stand alone game.

For maniacmike or probably others that haven't actually seen the point of this I'll reiterate it...

Consoles are under powered compared to PCs, therefore the amount of stuff in a game (Map Size, Player count, engine capabiltiy etc) will need to be limited to allow it to be a console port. Now the problem is and using BF3 as a prime example. Apparently the PC was the lead platform but it shifted to the console market... what happened? The PC version also had to suffer some of the limitations of the consoles and since they were producing the same game they didn't alter the maps for both platforms. BF3 has the same maps but just more control points on the PC, not much different, key bindings are screwed up, destruction is terrible.

So basically, next time... open your eyes and read.

TLDR: Console ports tend to limit the content, quality and overall satisfaction of a PC game due to limitations of said console.

Seriously what a retarded point to make, Tell me again how your credit card details are safe with PSN...

Listen i dont give a shit about all that crap, its a game.

Nothing is safe online but PS3 games are safe...and whats that got to do with creating hacks for PS3 games? nothing so stfu now and go apply for a credit card and find out for yaself.

Yes well, of course they are safe. As is anyone who goes up against you in a spelling bee or IQ test.

Actually, if you're going to comment, you should at least make sure what you're trying to pass off as the truth is, well, actually the truth.

The PS3 isn't hacked and games are safe, you say? You mean there aren't people playing (illegally) copied games off of external hard drives? And you mean that people aren't joining multiplayer matches only to find out that they're in a hacked match and their stats are sent in to the negatives (amongst other issues and hacks)?

Hmmm... well that's all news to me.

Fact is that all the current consoles are hacked, and I don't just mean in terms of playing illegal copies. I'm referring to their multiplayer component.

Hear a lot of QQ in this thread. I would like to see more games made for both and cross play between platforms. Not everyone can afford a pc to play games on, most people own a tv and can drop 200$ on a console to play on but then are left unable to play a lot of good games. Just hope in the future microsoft adds keyboard and mouse capabilities to the xbox.

The Makers Of DayZ Want To Put It On Consoles

15 AUG 2012

DayZ on your Xbox? Could this happen soon?

Dean Hall, project lead on the popluar zombie-survival title whose success transformed it from an ArmA 2 mod into a full-fledged game, told Joystiq at Gamescom that he wanted to bring it to consoles. And, he's meeting with console-makers at the show.

"You're not going to put it on consoles if you're only going to sell 100,000 units or something like that," Hall told Joystiq. "DayZ will be driven by its PC development and it will innovate on that. And, once we're at a point, we'll take it and do a Mac version, 360, and PS3."

DayZ already has over a million players.

DayZ standalone will be multiplatform

I think I may cry.

If I remember, Crytek said something similar when they multiplatted Crysis 2. Didn't go well. It was a CoD clone, far too linear to be fun...

DICE violated the trust of the PC platform fans with the multi-platform sales pitch which turned out to be a console port.

DayZ going multi-platform is HORRIBLE news. DICE lied to their decade-long PC platform fans consistently for a year.

The talons of big business and COD Console Casualization fever look to be striking again.

You mean they would hook up a keyboard and a mouse to a case containing a processor, gpu and HDD connected to a monitor?

Kinda like a PC? /facepalm.

Rocket isn't a "big business" guy. He has already said the PC version will be leading the development. Calm down.

I hope you are taking note Rocket.. Having fanboys might seem nice, but piss them on and they will turn on you in a heartbeat. It's like your news bit them and now they are all infected and coming after you :)

Play War Z (no do not do that it looks terrible, go on the website and click on subscribe to Youtube page and find around 10,000 subscribers without a single piece of content).

Seriously it will be fine, the game is being built on the PC platform and since he is following the Minecraft model he is just copying how they pushed the game. If he delivers a terrible console port of the game then I will be right there bitching with everyone else, until that day calm down and hope for the best.

Also it might be a console game for next generation consoles which might be able to handle a similar type of game, but who knows since we still do not know what engine will run the stand alone in the first place.

PC-level quality products are gone for Battlefield, Call of Duty, Crysis, and others due to Console Casualization. The influence of the console platforms to ensure all platforms are equal must be powerful.

Equal means significant degradation of the PC product.

Ya I dont get what the fuss is about. He said in the interview that the PC will be developed to a certain point before the games is ported to other platforms. For those of you who need it in layman's terms, any other platforms will receive a ported FROM PC version. Not the other way around.

Not like a pc, like a console with keyboard and mouse capabilities. PS3 has always had keyboard/mouse capabilities, does that make it a PC then?

You're like a paranoid schizophrenic, this is DAYZ not some AAA sell-out. Take off your tinfoil hate and realize the aliens aren't coming for you.

cross play? are you kidding me? the console gamers will be just RAPED by PC ones, because gamepad is inferior to the keyboard and mouse.

also in 99% cases there is no cross platform game development, there is porting from consoles, which fucks up mouse controls badly.

I'm going to start giving WARNINGS to people who start Topics when there is no need.

There is a SEARCH function / tool,,, use it.

The Forums are under a heavy charge, starting / adding a Topic when there is already more than one on the same subject and often on the same page, is not helping in anyway whatsoever.

I agree with everything you said in the post about consoles, I do disagree with your talking about low-end computers having advantage because we can see more. I know from me currently having a computer that is rather low-end that I can't see shit, me and my friend(who has a high-end pc) travel together, he sees a deer stand and leads me to it because I can't see anything until its 10 meters infront of me.

But I agree with the majority of the post, consoles shouldnt have this game, let warz have console.
