Steam for the Standalone.

Recommended Posts

Most likely, the majority of sales for Arma were bought from Steam so its highly unlikely that the Alpha won't be sold on Steam.

I presume so, If you pay for the aplpha you pay less for the full steam version when its done in cpmpletion, so I presume the only way to link that is through steam.

Eh... Steam is kind of a double edged sword.

Yeah it makes finding hackers/recent players to friend much easier, it also makes accessing the map to Chernarus easier through Shift+Tab (tee hee, I cheat when I first spawn). However Steam can be a bit of a resource whore sometimes and what's even worse is if someone hacks your steam account they get not only all your games but there's a chance they could grab personal info.

That being said, I use steam and I would buy the stand alone through steam. =)

Unless you have an extremely easy to guess and small password, the chances of you getting hacked are little to none. Especially if you change it every couple months. You also have your email address which isn't shown that you can use to recover your account.

"Steam for Standalone"

Exactly, if you want to wait for 2013 to get it for Steam, then go ahead. The one getting released next month is an open alpha.

Yes but in battlelog, if you see a hacker you can look at your previous game or search his name, go on his profile and report him via explanation mark in the yellow triangle.

and then nothing happens because dice are fucking incompetent.

has been said repeatedly that it will be on steam.

I'd rather give rocket my money, not steam.

But then again Steam have some wicked sales, I only hope they don't sell it in a sale for lower than I paid for it!!!

I always prefer games I can touch, but steam does allow you, to own the games everywhere you are, without the scratches!

Either way it will be a good way of purchasing it ( providing you have the net)

Let me confirm, once and for all, that it will 100% be released on steam. That will be the way you buy, install, and update (via delta patches).
There will be no main release. It's all the same release, via steam :)

Standalone isn't going to be a finished product. Regular updates. Exactly why minecraft isn't on steam.

Maple Story is on Steam, Dota 2 is on steam...

wanna talk about that?
