'new' bandit skin is terribad..

Recommended Posts

Why does it matter where/how people group up?

"REALISM REALISM REALISM! Er, I mean...not too much realism...I mean, let's not get crazy."

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelarious.

How is it not realistic that you roll in a group of people your affiliated with outside the game?

In a SHTF scenario do you think your group would not consist of friends and family? How are most people affiliated, its through organizations like work, school, teams, etc.

These people would share similar locations IRL so group members being near each other at spawn isn't outside a realisitc take IMO, nor is meeting up with people as you could have a plan for when SHTF you meet at x.

Do you think it would change if players were limited to using in game communication? No they would simply use in game chat to talk to each other and make arrangements to meet before logging in, thus bypassing encounters with non group members.

I don't mind the bandit skin, looks pretty cool to me but I feel that I now have a target on my head.

The only time I actually shot at someone else was when a player with a makarov ran at me and started shooting so I shot back with my AK and dropped the poor fellow.

It's unfortunate that the situations that players are put in will sometimes give them a bad image to the general population of players.

Unless you farm humanity everyone will become a bandit eventually, the hit for kiling a non bandit is high enough that you have to activley look to waste your resources on the drooling masses, or have really bad teammates that require transfusions all the time.

Its humanity not kills, I think its less than negative 2000 you are a bandit and more than 5k you are a "hero".

Humanity is shown again? Didnt see it. Is it with that new rolling update?

And is there something like a Hero skin too?

I'm not even a bandit and I agree, the Bandit skin is fucking awful. In Standalone there will be customization and such so I wouldn't worry about skins much right now.

Humanity increases over time, so even if you murder someone you won't be stuck with the negative effects forever, even if you never help anyone.

By successfully defending(you know returning fire) your life against Murder-attempts(you know people that shoot you first) from others you will become a bandit, if these attackers aren't flagged as bandits themselves yet.

If somebody shoots you first and you kill him, surely you can not be punished by lowering your humanity?

Did you really test this or do you assume that killing non bandits, even in selfdefence, is considered murder?

It's terribad but it's working. I haven't shot a hero yet whereas pre patch I would of just unloaded on anyone I saw. I may be naive and get killed by a hero because he actually wanted to be a bandit but I'm not worried.

Back to killing Wookies on sight? Standard operation procedure to me.

I only ever wear my ghillie suit when I'm actually going to use it for stealth. All other times I wear the regular clothing or the camo clothing if i come across it but now I'll probably only wear the regular.

Are there more then murders that decrease humanity? On one server it went down to 300, and gradually it came up to my regular 2000. I don't get that.

Because of the awful skin, I don't want to shoot other players. Yet I think it's great that the game designers have made you think twice about killing somebody - however I'm sure it can be done in another way than a bandit skin. Also, I do not like the idea of a hero skin. It's a stupid idea all together.

Here are the skins I want in the game:

Camo clothing

Ghillie suit

Other clothing that kan be helpful

Bandit, survivor and hero are de facto classes in DayZ, and since I'm against classes in DayZ, I'm also against a solution like that.

Ok im going a little off topic with this lol but why you all bitching about bandits surely it adds to the danger, which is the point of the game, i will admit i hate hackers but not bandits because im a bandit and surely you cant argue with the fact that if i see you then track you for 20-30 mins then take out my rangefinder, guage the distance, zero my rifle and then try and maintain that distance for better accuracy and ultimately put a bullet through your head you cant bitch at me because you didnt take 2 seconds to look behind you.... ok rant over :P and yeah btw i hate the new bandit skin :)

I don't have a problem, looks okay too me. Atleast we know who is a bandit now.

thats absolutely NOT true. i shot a guy in selfdefense with a shotgun and pellets (all i had) after he missed me several times. i didnt miss. the pellets each count as a seperate shot so by killing ONE guy my humanity dropped to -3500 with the first "murder" i performed (nevermind it was no murder). a guy who sniped players for weeks from one of the city roofs on the other hand can heal or help his fellow killers (and make them able to kill more "innocent" people) and *bang* he´s a hero !

if this is ok and looks like a reliable rating representing the danger a player is i wait for the people wheeping here because a hero killed them. oh man, will i laugh :)

no one is innocent. if he runs let him run. if he tries to be clever tell him he is not.

like said above it is NOT working. if the attacker does miss you YOU are the one getting the loss of humanity. if you use pellet ammunition you get 5 times the penalty (dont know the exact amount, my "murder" was worth about -3500 humanity)

They should use those militiant skins, the ones with the bandana covering their nose and mouth, or the ones with the balaclavas/ski masks.

Everything Rocket does is half-baked so I'm not sure why you're surprised. Just be glad there's a way to tell who's a bandit now.

How is it half baked? I'll agree with you that the bandit skin isn't very good, but let's not forget that 1. Rocket doesn't owe you anything, and 2. He's doing this for free. He spent his own money making the thing. You think mo-cap is free? Let's see you do take money out of your own to make a free mod.

i absolutely agree. i dont like the whole humanity-stuff and there are some other things i would like changed. but this game - much more than most other games - is the sole creation of rocket, so he has absolutely every right to change it the way he wants and to do with it what he wants. no one of us paid one single buck to him but still many think "i bought arma2 so they have to listen to me" - naaaaaaaaaa, wrong ! if rocket (and the rest of the developers, i have the feeling they are totally forgotten or not mentioned enough) wants to change the game so from tomorrow on the goal is to ride on a pink pony over a rainbow dressed as a drag-queen he is free to do that.

when i heard that mainly one guy did all the stuff and design (and brought in the mechanics for dehydration, hunger, sickness and blood[loss] i was really astonished. i didnt hear of a project made by one guy which so many real new and innovative features in my life, and handling the storm on the servers when arma2 was the most-sold game on steam for weeks was a unbelieveable achievment (when i started about 4-5 months ago there were around 200000 people playing, many only sometimes. in some weeks the load at least doubled (i even think more) and i didnt see any breakdowns of the servers nor other problems (well, the servers were flooded with noobs who didnt know anything and were the oppinnion this was the new counterstrike...but thats a thing the players must deal with ;) )

and this is also my opinnion on him finally earning some credits for his efforts and the stand-alone version : i am not sure if i will get it because i fear that they might reduce the difficulty even more and the whole humanity-bullsh|t with bonuses to "nice" players is not a thing i would have wanted in. but its his baby and he can do with it what he wants. the new version will for sure be rid of some bugs and cheating possibilities but it will also made for commercial gamers. but that doesnt lower my respect for his work or his ideas, maybe the chance to work with more budget and a bigger crew makes this mod just the start, i´d really wish for that because most of the gaming industry is nothing but a copy&paste-job pouring out one clone after the other.

everyone complaining about this game should be punished by having to program "hello world". the 10 % not failing at this could try to find the right values for the chance of finding some loot or for dehydration by movement and time. and the 0.1% managing that get a one-time-chance for complaining here :)

My goodness thats horrid.I post suggestion like...please show us what look your giving bandits and heroes and no response or anyone even agreeing with that. Now wwe have to live with this tacked on turbin head. Where is the artistic freedom a modder has to make a bandit look like a bandit rather than a NYC taxi driver???Will the standalone just be tacked on stuff or will it have an apocalyptic look?

Isn't there a ski mask terrorist head already in A2?

I think bandits should have bright orange outfits so we can see them from a distance. The rag head kind of looks like a mummy not a bandit. Or they could have Poncho Via hats with big brims and the tassles and crisscross bullet vest ofcourse. Maybe bandits should have dayglow pink gloves and shoes that ought to keep the little punks from wanting to become one
