8 M4/M16s and 4 AKs are normal ?

It is when there's little difference between them aside from attachments and range, and when there's dozens of humvees and dead American troops littering the countryside.

If a FAMAS is added, so what? All you'll have is another assault rifle that takes STANAG mags and shoots 5.56mm. Big whoop. Might as well ask for a gold plated AK and a red tiger striped FAL and be done with it.

I'm not saying it's bad to suggest things; what I'm saying is having a little perspective of things, like keeping in mind how the game actually could benefit from your suggestion, and what the dev team have to work with.

If you wanted to add variety to the current lineup of weapons, why not do a little research and see that there are much more interesting weapons to add, such as the SKS, which is one of the most ubiquitous semi-automatic rifles in the world! Why add another 5.56 assault rifle when you could be having something like a Ruger 10/22 (for quiet headshotting and stealth), or a Mini-30 with a hunting scope to put those 7.62x39mm rounds to better, more accurate uses?

It's all well and good to think "Hey, this gun is awesome and I loved it in [insert video game/movie title], why not add it to DayZ?"

Before making a thread about it, the better question should be 'why haven't they added it already?', and if the answer is either 'because adding it would be pointless' or 'they probably don't have the time or manpower', then that saves yourself the wasted effort of making a thread to get your dream gun shoehorned into the zombie apocalypse.

Not very. Finding ammo is easy as finding food if you pass by the occasional deer stand. Hell, the FAMAS uses the same ammo as the M4/M16 assault rifles, so finding ammo for it wouldn't be a problem anyway.

Besides, finding ammo should be hard! There's an apocalypse going on, even finding a few spare rounds would be surprising.

And do you think adding statics from wikipedia will help you make the suggestion better? You could have simply said "I want FAMAS in the game for no actual reason."

I'd say no to FAMAS, even though I like the weapon, I can't see it fit in DayZ's setting. As stated many times before DayZ needs more eastern weaponary, less western. And taking in account DayZ's back story, french didn't participate in containing the virus in Chernarus. If we were to see someone besides brits, yanks, russians and locals in DayZ, I'd prefere it to be germans (just to get the old bandit skin back :( )

My personal answer; no...

And the reason of my answer is actually very simple: DayZ takes place in a post-apocalypse time, at east european or russian location. This means the weapons should fit this time and location.

Russia probably as the road signs are in russian.

Besides there's an actual reason, but is far out there way beyond the reach of a kid ^ playing FPS games all his life.

I've used it in real life. The utter useless bunch of M4/M16 weapons is just plain stupid considering they all look almost the same and have almost the same ballistics.

I want in in the game cause i've used it IRL, the same as a lot of germans.

More like about 200.000 germans from the beginning of it's foundation(Foreign Legion) up to today. Can't get a clear number as original source is missing.

We need less military hardware and more civillian weapons.

I'm all for good weapons but in due playtime. Running five minutes to a dear stand and lucking out for a M16 or AKS-74 Kobra isn't exactly good equipment progression.

I quite enjoy using the Enfield, Winchester and Double Barrel. But what destroys their usefulness and pretty much every low tier weapon is that you can find even better weapons for less effort. It's much easier to circle around a deer stand than into a barn.

Bring out more hunting or surplus weapons. Like an SKS or Mosin Nagant, we're talking about a fictional ex-Soviet state here. There should be old Russian gear everywhere.

I'd rather add the AKS/any other weapon that's from the Eastern Bloc instead of a FAMAS or western gun. We have enough western weapons, let's build on the eastern weapons. We could add the RPK-74, the SA-58 (wooden, not the high-tec one) and the AKS to just mix things out, and then add some country rifles.

The thing is there's like :

-3 light machine guns ( very similar)

-4 shotguns (similar)

-2 MP5s ( very similar)

-4 AK models (extremely similar)

- 8 (very similar ) !!! M4/M16 weapons which is like way too many.

- 7 sniper rifles ( again more variation than probably needed)

AND only one single bullpup rifle the L85A2 AWS .

I mean It's the only one of it's kind and another bullpup would bee so much to ask ?!?

But 8 M4/M16s and 4 AK aren't too much ?

Yeah, Famas could be a weapon loot in those heli crashes.

No one really knows what happened in Chernarus, but one can say NATO was probably scouting the area, and for some reason their scouting choppers crashed.

People say : "It doesn't fit! It doesn't fit!".

But it's everyone's different point of view, to me it can fit, by the lore/story (DayZ doesn't have it explicitly, but still does implicitly).

We do already have the L85 which is a STANAG Bullpup.

I'd accept the FAMAS if it fits with the DAYZ Team's intended lore, but it shouldn't be there just because.

L85 isn't eastern european of course, but only appears in chopper crashes. There's probably a good reason for that.

Justifying a weapon being added because, "I've used it in real life and I like it. Adding it lets the people who want to use it do exactly that but people who don't won't have to but that makes it fair" is ludicrous.

By that logic, we should have every weapon in existence in the game to be fair to the people who like certain ones.

I dont see a problem with western weapons as i believe the apocalypse happened during the the US or Russian invasion of chernarussia, so there would be lots of weapons.

Yummy ! The Famas G2 with Felin system. It could be added to hely crash sites because French spec ops were investigating.and make it a very rare spawn item.

And a bit of AP / AV 22mm grenade fun coudl be added to the mix...Again very rare spawn item.
