o00Frost00o 15 Posted August 8, 2012 Whats the point of geting all the weapons, if the best survival tactic is not to shoot?I have all the survival tools, so I don't need to loot towns anymore. If the game at least had some mechanism, that would reward you for killing zombies/bandits (humanity?). Right now, there is no reason for me to pop-up my head from the "safety" forests, so I'm just hunting animals and refilling my water canteens once in a while...and its getting boringAnd yes, I play as a lone wolf...sorry for my bad english... o00Frost00o 15 Posted August 8, 2012 Very similar situation, have thought about running around helping new spawns till one kills me and starting again.I have thought about this as well, but I don't want to give some cherno sniper-camper the pleasure of cheap kill+ you never know when some as*hole shoots you in the back with his makarov and takes your hardly earned gear
-+BoSS+-Eran Mintor 5 Posted August 8, 2012 It can get boring living in the woods and staying out of sight but you'd be surprised how many times you will run into people in the woods if you hang around on populated servers....my suggestion is to set yourself a goal, like hunting x amount of players or zombies and see how tactical you can be. To take risks and still survive is where the fun comes from, but if you just hide in the woods it's no surprise you will get bored after awhile.

Uzilara 1 Posted August 8, 2012 gratz, you beat the game as the goal of the game is to survive but just surviving isn't much fun if you only stay in forestsi've been playing for several weeks now with a buddy and once we have the standard basic survival package, we always set out to find either helicopter crashes, run deer stands, raid supermarkets or go to an airfield..in the hopes of improving our gear or getting a few tents to start a camp.We never go searching for people to kill but somehow we always encounter them and usually they get the better of us :PMaybe you should give this a try? playing lone wolf in the forest can get boring very quickly ;-)
gambla 118 Posted August 8, 2012 I'm in the same situation, being a sniper with the best gear i ever wanted...- I don't go to Cherno cause i don't want to loose my gear to a any scripter or a noob with too much luck. And in killing spawns i don't see any challenge.- NW airfield seems too chaotic and can't find any secure sniper position that is not well known, and there are too many zombie spawn places as wellNow i'm at the NE airfield and i think about camping Stary. I don't like close combat, you need too much luck to survive it.

BUT u dont go to the "high risk" sniper places cause of somebody can kill u? Crazy ...@OpenerTry to find a ATV,boat, helicopter or something like this :-) or just make usefull tents of full meat for other people ..
gambla 118 Posted August 8, 2012 What language is "dafuq" ? Yes, going to locations like that well known sniper hill in Cherno is for suicidal idiots. Still, my first objective is to survive and killing is only second, as long as we don't get other goals in the game. And i'm playing lone wolf style, so groups have a big advantage. benjeh 0 Posted August 8, 2012 You seem like you have alot of patience, Why not wait on the hill of a town for a lone wolf like yourself to come strolling by, even investigating his movements could give you information on him or the game. Then it's up to you whether to take him down or leave him be... And don't feel guilty if you are the killer, most likely they were a bandit and you were the better player ;)

Malachi Krieg 22 Posted August 8, 2012 My group and I ran into this situation ourselves recently. Our solution? We gathered in the middle of the woods, put some leftover gear in a tent or two, ran a random direction, had a group hug as a teammate chucked a grenade at our feet... and then tried to meet up in Cherno and start all over.
s.taylor.75@gmail.com 23 Posted August 8, 2012 Play recklessly until you get killed. You could join a group but honestly that's just going to get you in the same boat, just much quicker.

mezeberelk 2 Posted August 8, 2012 Yes, it can get a bit boring after a while but maybe you need to stop playing for a while and try some other mods or games. I hope when it will become a standalone game its going to be more fun and more a challenge to survive, I dont know what bohemia interactive and dean hall have in mind to do with this mod or standalone game but I hope they will add mission, safety zones, rare items to get etc. etc. I dont know if you had arma 2 already or that you bought it to play dayz, if you only bought it for dayz then maybe you should have done some more research on the features of this mod.for now I can say, try to find a tent so you can gather vehicle parts, meet up with other people ( even if you are a lonewolf ) and repair vehicles so you can be king of the server :) ( for as long as it will last ) Good luck
Zing Freelancer 58 Posted August 8, 2012 Missions sound interesting, perhaps even something like loot-able "Stash markers", similar to Stalker:SC or rescue missions for NPCs. But what really would be interesting if the game had a goal, like in all zombie movies the survivors have a goal to "get to the safe zone". It could be similar in DayZ, but instead a player may or may not loot information that will tell him location X is a safe zone and so he has to find that place. No guarantee there is a safe place to begin with, when the player reaches his destination he might just find that it has been overrun by zombies and survivors left, leaving a clue that will lead him to the next "safe place". Thankfully zombies cant read :)Upon reaching the safe zone, player is told that he will be evacuated if condition X is met, the condition can be anything. For example the rescue will come if there are enough survivors waiting for it. Or player could just get his own chopper and fly-off into the sunset.

sapien82 4 Posted August 9, 2012 Does anyone remember the game based on HP lovecrafts books ! where your sanity was also part of the game , but there were no visual HUD indicators other than your heart rate and your vision ! I think that in this game your sanity should also be a survival aspect the more and more zombie encounters you see the more insane you become , the more you socialise with others the more you recover your sanity ! this would encourage social interaction to a degree ! discombobulated 27 Posted August 9, 2012 Does anyone remember the game based on HP lovecrafts books ! where your sanity was also part of the game , but there were no visual HUD indicators other than your heart rate and your vision ! I think that in this game your sanity should also be a survival aspect the more and more zombie encounters you see the more insane you become , the more you socialise with others the more you recover your sanity ! this would encourage social interaction to a degree !Yes, but Zombies wouldn't necessarily turn you insane, but watching the way humanity has crumbled may. All the bandits you face, the people you have to kill, all go towards your sanity, and so would avoiding people, which would make it in peoples best interest to join up.The only problem I see with this, is that it forces some people to play in a way they don't want to. Not everyone wants to be a "good" guy, and not everyone wants to team up with others, I don't think I would trust another person during the apocalypse, except for my closest friends, and even then, how well do you really know someone until you're put into a situation miles out of your comfort zone? Also not everyone will go insane in the same situation, so maybe at the beginning you have a couple of character questions, deciding what may or may not flip the switch in certain situations. It could be a good idea, but it would be very complicated to incorporate a system that would work well for everyone. You have to remember that the reason this game works so well as it is, is because it uses peoples decisions as part of the game. Some people just want to ruin other peoples day, other want to help people. You have the groups, and the lone wolves. All have a right to play, and rocket has said he doesn't want to influence people to play in any particular way, because it is the actions of everyone that shape the stories of DayZ, whether good or bad.
