You fail to understand hacking

Recommended Posts

Each time the issue of hacking is brought up, about half the people shrug it off "I've never seen any hacking".

It's such a common theme, people denying it exists because they personally haven't seen it.

Or to a lesser extent, admitting it's a problem, but diminishing how serious of a problem it actually is because they think they haven't seen it or have only seen it once or twice.

That's because the vast majority of hacking isn't the thunderdome, or the whole server being nuked.

It's someone giving themselves ESP (all players appear with arrows above them, visible from anywhere), god mod (you think they didn't die because you missed or it lagged), or spawning weapons and gear.

Or teleporting around.

Or vehicles.

There's loads more.

All practically imperceptible to the average player, but I can 100% guarantee your gaming experience has been sullied by it.

As you become more experienced in the game you'll see just how common it is, the people you kill being back in 5 minutes with the same gear.

Invisible people shooting you when no one was around.

The 'hacker loadout' ( .50 cal, M4A1 silenced, NVG, rangefinder, wookie outfit).

Some hackers are happy just to have the best equipment, others aren't happy unless they're playing in god mode or nuking the entire server.

Most are the former, but they still ruin DayZ - and so do you by denying just how widespread the problem is now.

Ive only experienced one hacker. Must have been something like an aimbot or something. Just quitely cruising around and I suddenly die with -40000 blood. Would have just passed it off as a nice sniper shot from a .50cal or something but my friend died exactly the same way, about a minute before from the other side of the map. My method to avoiding hacks is to just play on low populated servers.

I guess, but a lot of this game is discussed on boards like reddit and 4chan, those places are rampant with people who want to piss off other people =/

The kinda people that have "been trollin' since 09".

Hello there

"In all my 42 years neither I or anyone I know have been mugged."

By the denialists logic shown on the forums then the act of mugging cannot exist.

That's nice then.

LoK

edit - toned it down a bit

The 'hacker loadout' ( .50 cal, M4A1 silenced, NVG, rangefinder, wookie outfit).

You're calling a lot of people "hackers" then.

Few things:

1. They're crackers/script kiddies, not hackers.

2. The "hacker loadout" you mentioned is a bunch of bull. With all the duping going on, finding one camp or killing one player results in almost full end game gear.

3. Server Admins can apply certain "fixes" to their servers to prevent certain aspects of exploitation - message your fellow server admin and ask if they can enhance their server.

Some people fail to understand that there isn't anything that can be done about the hacking, Battleye sucks arse and can't keep up with the hacks, and the Dev team can't do anything about it either.

no one is saying it isn't happening, just that it isn't as widespread as threads like this seek to suggest.

yet another pointless thread from op.

You're arguing semantics. They are exploiting the game using scripts which are commonly referred to as "hacks", because they're exploiting weaknesses in the game and BattlEye. The terminology used doesn't matter so much when you know exactly what the OP was talking about, and it most certainly is an incredibly extensive problem in DayZ.

Why is adding a car such a big deal I mean if their aren't enough to go around! I mean in a way this game is kinda off on it perception of the world after a zombie apoc if everyone except a few people died there would be millions of unused cars/boat/plane/heils/bike/mopeds ect just laying around. Now I have never seen the point in using God modes ect or adding super guns I mean what does that prove beside that you have no skill and must rely on cheating

Getting shot by an AS50 with NATO rounds will do >170000 damage, so yeah you can die instantly and see a negative bloodvalue like that

To the OP: really? Another day, another one of these threads?

Battle eye doesn't and does suck at the same time.

They can't exactly make a hack detection update for a hack that hasn't been made yet. That would require them as a company to go through and start making hacks themselves, and then patching the game so someone else can't use that same memory hole.. ect.

They have to wait till its out, then patch it+ ban offenders. Yes this sucks, and they should be visiting every hack/cheat site they can find on the web and getting their hack tools so they can patch the game as quickly as possible. However, every time the game devs release new code/update the game. It creates opportunities for hacks/exploits to come into existance. So battle eye is fighting an enemy that has the upper hand when it comes to a mod/game that is currently in ALPHA. Because the game is in alpha new content will be updated constantly, which means there are going to be holes that can be exploited. And will be.

Just have to remember its in Alpha, play on Low pop servers and wait for standalone game to come out.

Who cares what I call them?

Lets just call them cheaters then, is that ok?

Does that not offend your delicate sensibilities?

Because lordy lordy lord, imagine if someone out there were to read this and think those real PRO hackers that are totally elite are the people annoying them on DayZ?

Imagine the confusion it could cause if people were to mistake them for kids using scripts on an online game!

The hacker loadout - that's what the hackers seem to spawn for themselves and have each time they come back after you kill them(if they can be killed).

May I ask whoever reads this,

Would you consider a person who scripts in weapons to test them out and then plants all the items that have been scripted onto the zombies body and then hides the body so it is gone forever and lets themselves die from zombies once they have no items on them as bad as the nuking hackers?

not as bad but it is still cheating.

use the shooting range map to test stuff.

Yes. If you want to test weapons, there's an armory for that. What you're given in game is what you're given. If you can't find it, then go look for it. You're not here for your own amusement, you're here to test a mod. Play with your scripting and toys elsewhere.

Thought so, thanks for the response. I'm not sure how to work the armoury just yet but I'm currently progressing through the stock shooting range to try and get better so I'm no longer doing it other ways.

In no way was I doing anything for my own amusement or in-game gain, neither was I doing to it poison other players online experiences, rather it was to try and be better player with aiming.

I completely understand that this is a mod to be tested publicly and that's why I have moved to the shooting range, I just felt there was too many extra weapons that I would have to try instead of being able to focus on guns found in DayZ itself.

OP, you're telling me that the guys who shot me here and there were probably hackers and I should feel even more scared than before ? In that situation I think I should definitely be scared and create useless topic every single time something weird happen to me for the rest of my gaming experience.

Wait, what was the point of your topic exactly ? Beside not having any I mean ?

There's only one rule about hackers.

You don't talk about hackers.

Everyone knows that there are hackers. Rocket and his team are doing the best they can. Crying about it and making more threads will not fix the problem any more.

This thread is about as effective as "Raise cancer awareness" advertisements.

Actually, they could be dealt with... BY SERVER ADMINS, but Rocket and his ruleset have all but crippled the power of server admins.

This thread is about as effective as "Raise cancer awareness" advertisements.

If we limited forum discussion to effective threads there'd be no discussion left on most forums.
