i avoided all major cities and accumulated a lot of stuff from deer stands and small towns. then i was running through the middle of a forest along the west border constantly using freelook to look for players, and then got insta 1-shotted by a sniper.

ergo i didn't see a single player in my entire lifetime, and got killed while running by a single shot with absolutely zero chance of retaliation. (didn't even KO, it was instakill shot).

therefore my gameplan is now to loot big city early as possible (accounting for the fact that i'll probably die 4-5 times before succeeding), then my primary mission is to kill as many other players as possible before getting unlucky and death to invisible sniper.

it also depends on the mood.. and the threat level of the player.. for example.. a heavily armed person will be shot on sight in my books.. as he is a serious threat.

Unarmed survivors are more of a gamble for me.. depends on my mood.. if i'm frustrated.. you're kinda f*cked.. if i'm in a good mood.. i'll help them find a gun and give them some medical supplies and an escort.

but at the end : Just Deal With it.

I actually think unarmed are more of a threat. They might have a weapon in their backpack or manage to pick up a gun somewhere and they have very little to lose. A well equiped guy has far more to lose. I know when I've just spawned and have nothing but an axe or pistol I go into rambo mode and will charge someone far better equiped than me. If I die? So what, respawn with a smile and adrenaline rush. If I kill them? Goodies for me \o/

There are still friendlies out there but you can't assume everyone is. My recommendation is shoot when threatened and maybe play with your friends so you can watch each others back.

I play on servers with between 10-20 people. I avoid highly concentrated sniper areas. I frequent less popular areas. In the nearly week that I've been playing I've been shot by someone else three times.
