PvP Will always be in this game. Deal with it.

Recommended Posts

There are so many posts about finding a way to curb PvP in this game it makes my head spin. They all start out with something about snipers with NVGs. ALWAYS. My response to that; the snipers probably went through all sorts of hell to get those things, so why can't he or she enjoy them? He or she had to either hang out in the most dangerous areas for awhile or survive a helicopter crash site encounter.

Also, people just have to realize that in this game, you will die.....A LOT. And, honestly, it isn't a big deal. Today, I died with all the basic gear I needed. I was a little miffed, but one looting run through Chernogorsk(about 45mins-1hr) I had the equivalent of everything I had the previous life. I didn't just die and immediately go to the forums and whine about PvP. Just keep on going, because the only time you won't die is when you stop playing. Yes, you are going to die in downright retarded ways. Yes, you will get shot by some camper with NVGs. But unless you have NVGs and a coyote backpack and an M107(super geared up, and most people never reach this point), does it really matter that you lost your beans?

Basically, everyone who is about to post spmething about curbing PvP, trust me, it's been said. A lot. Probably in different languages. Just don't post for this reason.....

YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO PLAYS THIS GAME THAT GETS SNIPED. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LOSES HIS OR HER GEAR WHEM THEY DIE. EVERYONE HAS GONE THROUGH WHAT YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH. SUCK IT UP.

Phew, glad I got that off my chest......

^^Combating sexism, one pronoun at a time ;)^^

PVP is a major part of this game. If it was removed it would be quite boring. Even to the people that hate it. They just don't understand that.

There are also a million posts saying the same thing you just said. So just do what I do: ignore/troll the shit out of them! It's got to be more fun than typing out a well-spelled, well-worded topic (good job in that regard!) As annoying as it is, people are always going to bitch about dying in a video game. And despite what people say, it is a video game.

Just wanted to give myself the illusion that I at least did something. Now I can rest in peace knowing I will never have to type the same response to anti-PvP posts over and over again ;).

By the way, about the spelling thing, I KNEW it would make more people pay attention! Suck it, english dropouts! :)

I agree that PVP will always be a part of this game, it should be. However, at the moment, once you have geared up that's ALL there is. I don't think we should curb the PVP, I just think that we should enhance the PVE. At the moment zombies are only hard because they run in crazy zig zags. silenced weapon, zeds are toast. Too easy.

Don't remove PVP, just give the PVPers a bigger challenge and EVERYONE will be happy.

I do agree that the late-life portions of the mod do get boring, but making zombies harder won't fix it. They need to make the PvP more interesting. Less like this-

1.Sit on tower

2.Stare at road with NVGs and heavy rifle

3.Shoot at survivor, shoot until kill is confirmed.

Repeat.

Not sure how you could do it though. Hell, I'm not a developer ;).

why not focus on things like the undergound bases and better comm systems first :)

I just hate the shoot first Mentality. I mean If I pose no threat At All. I mean At all, I'll still get shot. One Time I walked out of a church right into a dude with a Axe, I had one too so I said friendly, I turned around and he had a friend with a gun. I just said "I'll be on my way then" I walked down the street but before I could duck behind a building, his friend put two into my brain pan. What was the point of that, my back was to them( well not reeally I was looking back.) and I had a melee weapon. I just wish there was some kind of morality system, so that people first reactions wasn't "look a person, shoot him" For once I'd like to meet a random player, ask him where he's heading figure out its near where I'm going and team up for a short time.

I'd rather kill you and make sure you are on your way than have you find a weapon and come back for me. I have enough concerns without having to look over my shoulder at my companions wondering if they are going to eventually kill me.

As I said above, it comforts me. It wasn't meant to be a suggestion, more of a therapy ;).

Oh hi again, Login. I seem to see you a lot ;)

PvP isn't the problem, it's the lack of balance between PvP and PvE.

The main danger is intended to be from people, it was said in an interview. It is okay as is in my opinion, they just need to clean up zombie pathfinding to make it less head-spinning ;)

I think the real issue is that PvP is the main source of gameplay. What this game really needs is more things to do. But of course PvP is going to always be an element of that.

All the muppets who shoot everyone they see would die in a survival scenario at the first inevitable instance they needed the assistance of others.

However, the reality that is not sinking in, is that this is a video game starring firearms, not an apocalyptic group dependent survival scenario.

Bored kids who can pretend to shoot others with no consequence will always do so. That is first person shooter video game culture.

Just like fat, spotty middle class teenage boys enjoy the e-bravado of trolling forums without the risk of losing any teeth.

sadly ur about a year to late for that..

the game has sadly become CoD on a massive map. all thats left are the KoS kiddies.

Whats the point of OP?

other than getting every one around here to slit each other's throats over the whole "PVP + PVE topics"

again..

Agreed, but when certain aspects of the game are removed to cater to those individuals that are up in arms over dying, it ruins the game for everyone.

There are two different types of people who complain about PvP. Those who will always shout friendly at anyone or anything and then rage when they get killed, and then those who feel the mod has become dried up and very linear were PvP is about the only thing left to do, and it doesn't matter what they add or update through patches.. It's still very boring. I'm the latter. I finished with the mod. The mod has zero excitment left and I don't even get paranoid running through towns or open fields, because I know I will be shot at without question.

Personally, I fail to understand why the mod will continue to be developed. It turned into a 225km2 Free for all. What else can you develop? ArmA is limited to what you can do and this has been proven.

Those are my rules.

1.- First of all, have a fucking fire weapon. If not, avoid ANY contact with people. ANY.

2.- When you have your fire weapon, if you meet someone don't FUCKING RUN right directly into them. even if they only carry axes.

Instead of that, look for a covering position close enough for starting a conversation. Analyze their intentions, even if they try something you have the advantage, and once they see you're actually not killing them when you could and just go away, you may be surprised how many of them will became your game friends.

All the people KoS because all the people KoS, but if you show them you're not a KoSer they will not KoS you either (unless a codkiddie or smth, but those are a minority in fact). However, running straigth to them with an axe isn't the best way to proove your intentions, no matter how loud you scream 'friendly' on the mic.
