Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

!!Zeds are broken!!

I thought it was only the Eagle Eyes zeds that were the problem but they seem to be the ONLY zeds that notice you (unless you REALY aggro a Zed.)

3 different servers, different characters. Different itmes/weapons and i've been able to happily jog around aggroing only the 1s with eagle eyes. The rest you can more or less be certain they will oignore you.

I've walked up to them (from behind) and looted stuff on the floor (outside when they are in sheds & even the supermarket in zeleno where 3 had been stood on top of the items.!! So i shoot them.

Yet when going sneaky (thinking i have outwitted 20+ I've been chased by 1 who saw me 100's of meters away, now I know that was the only 1 i needed to have been concerned about, basically you will be seen so run around until you do, then run some more -YAWN-.

Someone said there was some random chance of the "eagle eyed" Zed seeing you, so what this HAS done to the game (mod) has turned it into a benny hill-athon. Run around as you like, you will get seen so don't bother going sneaky. You'll eventually loose that 1 zed, yes you'll aggro others but they are easy to loose when running around and around (aka Benny Hill style) buldings.

All that sneaking and intensity has been lost. The game is quite frankly boring now as you can cheese your way around with out any thought required..

I'm running DayZ v1.7.2.3 with the 94876 Arma 2 beta patch.

A couple of things ive noticed so far...

1. An infected was looking straight in my direction from maybe 30 - 40 meters away, I was prone & never aggroed it however there was one maybe 100 meters away that i did aggro, I got up and ran, This obviously aggroed the closer one too. On the plus side the infected are pretty easy too loose providing there are some buildings or some kind of obstacle too aid you.

2. Some servers state they are running DayZ v1.7.2.3 however when you join you get a message saying you have the wrong version of DayZ installed, It tells me im running v1.7.2.3 but the server is running v1.7.2!

3. Loading times, These are pretty damn long, However one in game all runs fine ... Ive found the less people on the server the quicker i join.

Good news is ... I haven't broken a bone in a while now. :D

Re point 1 - Not being seen when you should be yet being seen by "eagle eyes" isn't a plus :D Its broken. The game quite swimply sucks now.

Just run around as you WILL be seen no matter what you do so find the houses, barns, sheds etc you can run in and out the other end and just keep cheesing them until you have what you need, off to the next town, rinse / repea

The sneaking and intensity the previous versions had has completely gone.

This patch IS a fail.

Next..

Compared to the other 90% they are but you are missing the point. I don't mind being seen, but when it is guarenteeed no matter what you do then what is the point in sneaking and going prone? (yes these "eagle eyes" see you prone & still.)

The game is broken now. Just cheese your way around by exploiting the current mechanics & bugs as the old way of sneaking / dodging zeds IS broken.

Don't forget they are zombies, the idea being that you "aggro" them to the point of taking notice of you, similar to an animal attack.

Bears, lions whatever see you but they won't come running to attack unless provoked, in the zeds case we could assume anger/aggitation gets them hungry= attack. So (as previous versions) you could be seen but until a certain level they would only acknowledge you by grunts and squeals getting louder as the level increased.

This current random "eagle eye" mechanic dosen't work in a positive. I assume it is to keep you on your toes but as you are bound to get seen it isn't a suprise, so theres little point in sneaking any more.

Maybe dial the chances down it "could" work but as it is, it forces yo to abandon the previous styles of play and just run around regardless as 15 minutes of sneaking will end up in being spotted so why waste the time?.

Bear Trap bug. Placed bear trap near our camp (to break our own leg to see exactly how bear traps work etc.) So I set it up had others watching walked over broke my leg morphine fixed it picked up trap put it in tent. Friend walked over same spot (bear trap now gone) we heard a crack and his charchter scream but he did not. Next time he logged in he has a broken leg.

I spent 4-5 hours playing this weekend and not a single thing I did was saved. Multiple 1.7.2.3 servers were used but none of the things in my inventory were saved over multiple play sessions. Is my account bugged?

SYncing with the hive is only when connecting and disconnecting right? I think the sync-issues are not bugs of connections to the hive, but connections with the player-and-server. Why it should sync with the hive when riding a car?

I honestly dont know, thats why I said it was just my uneducated opinion. I thought all saves were in sync with the hive. So if saves occur on a 60 second timer (random figure) and there is lag between the server and hive, then that may create inconsistencies within the game.

Again, no real knowledge of what I am talking about... just yelling in the wind.

The most annoying bug today is that sometimes the backpacks save items and sometimes don't. Lost two (!!) m107 the other day to this bug by having to boot the game to raise fps. How about adding a save gear option to the gear menu? Also, would like to see comeback for camo / ghillie suits.

1.7.2.3/94876

It seems like there is a major problem with saving items in backpacks.

Yesterday, I lost a new M107, and just now, an AS50. Both times they were in my backpack, after logging out & in, they just disappeared. My ammo was still there.

When I logged in again, my backpack had 8 free slots, because the 10-slot sniper rifle had disappeared, and I had received two other items which I had dropped more than 1 hour before when I had placed the sniper rifle in the backpack.

I also lost all of my AKM magazines when I moved my AKM to my backpack (10/20 --> 0/0). My AKM moved fine, but it somehow took the magazines with it, into the void....

This all happened on different servers.

I agree with all the recent zombie talk. They are not very responsive, especially when you start getting some framerate lag. I assume this means that there are just so many zombies trying to do so many exponential calculations per second, that some zombies take too long to recalculate. And then it's chance based apparently, so I've run directly across the field of view of multiple zombies (literally 3-5 feet in front of them, full sprint) and they usually don't notice me. I was in a small town (Polana), so eventually there was probably 50-60 zombies in the vicinity, and they all had to calculate to see if they saw me. I think it might be more effective to only have zombies calculate which are within 100 meters (or whatever max distance) of players. It feels like every zombie (even the ones that are 200-300 meters away) are still trying to calculate if they see me, which really slows down the old FPS. I don't actually know what algorithms you guys use for the calculations, but they definitely need to be improved.

Obviously you guys know this though, and are probably working on it best you can. Good job rocket! We all love you!

Experiencing desync related issues for the most part. Having items appear in pack after having been dropped. Some shots not registering for several seconds on Zeds.

Main issue is FPS related. I've experienced a drop of 15-20 FPS with the 1.7.2.3 update, BETA 94876. Previous to this patch I was getting 50-55 FPS with vid settings on low-med with Res at 1920x1080.

Win7 64

i7-920

HD5770 1GB GDDR5

8GB RAM.

I had some problems with being teleported back (probably due to desync or something). I aborted and logged back in directly. When I got back it was day and I logged out at night. I was playing with my friend who was in the same room IRL. It was night for him and day for me. Weird.

EDIT: Tried logging out and in again. Still day for me. Night for him.

This exact thing happend to a friend of mine, he had a m107 and m16 and the m107 vanished in his backpack for some reason, but he still had the ammo. He later found a CZ which also vanished after reconnecting.

Very odd! I believe I have had the same problem as well. When I logged out, it was early morning. I logged back in 5 min later, and it was late evening and almost pitch black! I didn't switch server.

I had very strange bug, I loged out in forest outside Cherno, and when i reloged i was in Prigodka, with all my gear, nothing lost, same blood level, everything, except my location, i tried reloging, changing server, nothing worked. I was never near Prigodka with this character....

I have to disagree with the zombie aggro issues in general - we play in a group of 5-7 all moving around together so we pick up swarms of zombies unless we're really, really slow (and we usually aren't; enough guns/meds to go around that we'd rather not spend time being sneaky), and we still pick up quite a few followers any time we go near/through a town. There were one or two servers we joined that had a lot of statue-spawns (zombies and animals that didn't move an inch or respond to gunshots).

Spawn distance could be a little larger though; we had several situations where we literally couldn't get 10 seconds of breathing room because we could see zombies spawning within hearing range, and they would continue to aggro and spawn from us killing others. Got frustrating.

Seconding the backpack issues, we've had several guns that were just gone upon login. And I don't know if it's an Arma2 feature or DayZ, but I'd recommend stopping the "automatically move all associated ammo when you equip/move the gun" because it ends up vaporizing all ammo that can't fit into the bag.

Also maybe it's just our luck but been seeing TERRIBLE desync/server crash issues. Our group found its first heli crash site and the server reset just as we were about to press the pickup button on the L85 AWS we found (thought this had been removed but guess it's back? Sad to see that too btw), and on restart the entire heli crash was gone. Also lost a DMR to another server crash on a different server that wiped our friend's body just a few minutes after he'd died.

All in all I think 1.7.2.3 is really awesome with just a few tweaks to continue on with. Great job fixing the big breaks from 1.7.2.1!!!

I don't think that's the point here. This totally depends on what the developers want their infected/zombies to be.

If i'm right, we were supposed to be able to avoid them by sneaking (crouch walking or prone), which adds some tension to the game and requires you to think about where you need to go and what will you do about it, without aggroing an entire horde of zombies along the way.

I can see a zombie from a mile away, this doesn't mean he has to see me back in the same way, unless they are regular humans just like you and me.

PS: Loading screen lasting 5minutes+, this is really freaking me out.

In terms of fun, i really do prefer the whole low sound and visual levels but once your seen your chased for ever than to this high level but you can break their LOS easily.

Last few patches ago being stealthy actually helped out, it felt more balanced and even, now its not a bit too easy to lose them.

I find them pretty easy to sneak past and easy to lose.

Usually it's just a choice:

Wait for them to move away from my path,

Shoot them,

Run like hell and lose them along my plotted course.

I rarely get hit unless I'm being careless.

I think that once the tweaking happens, it would only be possible to lose them over a short distance, otherwise you are overrun.

Sometimes I run a very long distance with some zombies trailing me, then lose them shortly before my intended destination.

Hmmm, Weird!

I was killed earlier tonight .... I logged out for a few hours after i got the "you are dead" screen, A few hours later when i logged back in i spawned already unconscious with a broken bone & bleeding(i could see the hour glass)I had to wait until until i bled to death before i could re spawn a new char!

Upon my second try at a re spawn the weird thing is a had re-spawned with a char i had in the past .... Exactly the same gear in a spot i had previously been to but with a different char than the one i just died with ... Guns, Morphine etc all in tact ... Weird!

Had a few issues with the zombies myself - my friend and I were holed up in a barn north of Komarovo, lured all of the visible zombies in and hacked them to death. However many we killed though, they just kept spawning in right outside, we couldn't get through them. Also had the same issue with gear in backpacks, lost 2 morphine injectors and a bloodpack without any obvious cause.

Great mod, loving it so far, keep up the good work.

i was just talking about your request for a PM dude.. the reason u get hurled with abuse is cos there are tens of thousands of people reading and posting on here, goes with the turf. There is no way rocket and his small team can repond to every post. Stop being so small minded and get over it... your an anonymous number just like the rest of us! :)

Yes and i understood that i wasnt trying to argue your point i get it but my point is they shouldbypass the childish complaining aboutzombie distance and focus on the people with detailed reports because yes its more reading but a more in-depth guide of whats happened :)

And yes were all ants :)

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem (not reading though 46 pages to find out, sorry) but every time I enter a town my FPS degrages over time. I usually have around 40-50 when I enter and around 15 when I can't take it anymore and leave. The lowest it has dipped to was 9. Pretty sure it's not my rig since it wasn't happening last patch and I can run other games like Battlefield 3 on high settings with 40+.

Yes other people have had that same problem. I personally haven't noticed any "lag" in the video so not sure if the fps drops, but also don't spend too much time on big cities. But yea, is not just you don't worry.

my impressions in comparison to 1.7.1.5

performance: top!

zombies: flop! suggestion: decrease rang of sight, increase range of audibility (in this version they are more or less deaf)

it should be a risk for everyone to shoot a gun in town and in my opinion, sneaking is useless in this version because the zombies will see you anyway.
