The L85 is gone for good, that was confirmed by some dev ( people are now finding bugged/unusable L85s on crashsites )

As for Ghillies, they are temporarily gone. As far as I understand, a new "you" is spawned whenever you change suits and right now, the new "you" most likely spawns under the ground.

Regarding L85, it was a bad weapon. Really. High recoil and low damage making it terrible for long distance shots, high zoom making it terrible for low/low-med encounters. But it was quite a must-have tool for any raid attempt. Now it becomes much more risky as you have to greatly expose yourself to enter most valuable buildings or even reach crashsites.

And then people talk about tactics.. smoke grenades, flanking and whatnot... Sounds like we are not playing the same game.

In "my" game most people will just log the hell out if they feel unsafe. Heck, I've seen people disconnect and log back in a minute later in a much better flanking position. People are d*cks and will use/exploit every single game mechanics to get easy kills and better loots. That's DayZ in a nutshell : survival at all cost.

It was definitly mostly used by snipers, but they will still be effective at camping and killing people. On the other hand, we definitly lost the best counter to prone-ghillie-suited snipers who are overall way too safe in the current state, in my opinion.

Anyways, at the end of the day, I trully believe we need such "a bit op" rare pieces of equipment in the game. If we can get the best weapon from a barn and hatchet/knife from a shop then there is no reason to ever visit a town again.. and as far as I'm concerned, no reason to play anymore.

Using the L85 to spot, then switching to the sniper to kill is an excellent strategy.

Also, the L85 was removed on accident. That means it was removed on purpose. Which means it was an accident.

People need to stop saying the fucking word "balanced" around here. Especially in an alpha mod. How many times does the developer and producer need to say that "balance" is the last thing on his mind. It's like playing a realism shooter and complaining because you died to one single shot to the chest from a .308 round. Well, chances are unless you are lucky, you're going to die. I havent read through this whole thread, but i hope they took it out on purpose.. thermal sight doesnt belong in this game.. I havent found one and i hope i never will. I watched some streams on twitch.tv with people playing with this gun. Do a 360 swipe and your sure to spot everything living around you. Its cheathing and you dont need to try and change my mind thoose who dont agree with me.

Lol @ all of these fuckwits complaining about how sniper rifles are "breaking" the game. If you could honestly complain and moan any more about anything in the game that kills you in a way that would require you to put in effort to avoid, you would. If you honestly believe that snipers are as game breaking as you claim, then I guarante that Rocket would have already removed them long ago. If everyone was dying to a sniper all the time, thats one thing, but if you don't know how to maneuver correctly, than you deserve to die. Try avoiding the open fields and instead run in the forest. Try not satanding still for more than a couple seconds.

Since I started playing DayZ in late April, I might have been killed by a sniper a couple times. I said it in a different thread, and I'll say it here; Sniping is a different play style, its not like the bullet travels to the target instantly and perfectly where the crosshairs are, you have to compensate for their movement and distance away from you.

Now, on the topic of the L85, I've never used it, but thermal isn't god-mode either; it's easy to avoid. Hide behind a wall or in thick brush.

That's so inaccurate. The damn thing had such an high zoom that you'd spot a cow 500m away but you'd most likely miss everything in-between. How about you try it yourself? That's like 4 clicks away in the Armory.

The mod is still in development and as ‘Rocket’ has said on many occasions “the mod was built as an experiment” therefore until it is fully released (as standalone or mod) the dev's can change and do whatever they want!! They could if they wanted to, make it so that every hour an OP weapon or item gets given to a random player and you would just have to put up and deal with it!!

A game like DAYZ should in no way be balanced. If players were always on a level playing field then there would be no element of fear. It’s what makes DAYZ... DAYZ and if you don’t like it I suggest you stop playing the mod and go play call of duty or some other ultra-balanced game, Or go make your own zombie survival game the way you think it should be and well see how far that gets!!

I accept that feedback is required in order for development to push in the right direction but you also have to accept that new and exciting ideas require a lot of experimentation and failure first.

It had shit accuracy and used STANAG 30 rnd mags. It's basically an assault rifle. It's purpose was rooting out camping snipers in order to spot them to that the main sniper could take them out. That's it.

Nothing was removed, these are all bugs that are affecting certain items. I had an L85 and knew before I patched that 1.7.2 broke it. I logged in anyway. Its an alpha and sometimes its refreshing to start over; have a bit more fear of death... Also, using a high end weapon is completely ineffectual if you are stupid with it AND alot of times, when someone does get a high powered weapon, an inevitable sense of false security crops up and they get lazy. Then then die.
