Update looks promising and exciting!

 

The only thing that I fail to see is some rebalance to basebuilding and health. I'm already running double base health files on a nonmod vanilla server for balance reasons so the next player with 3-4 axes passing by can't just breach a whole gate in 15 minutes, with all the additional explosives coming with 1.18 basebuilding will probably be completely worthless and way too unbalanced, taking the vanilla settings on officials. But we shall see.

Please let us light fireworks indoors resulting in really loud bangs in the room. My first idea today was to lock someone in a room with firework batteries going off next to him INSIDE.

We couldnt light them. Look at videos like "Fans Bursting Fireworks In Theatre" for reference, it is really funny!

Excellent addition to abandoned trains will be some breaking/crushing(if there is unexpected barricade on the train rails) sounds so people can know if they are close enough to the spawning point. Maybe two different train models, one with military loot and one for civilians.

This looks like a great addition to the game.  Normally I would say that explosives are extraneous and belong in a mod.   But might as well walk that back and say that, 'Yes!, bombs are important to an authentic survival experience".  And yes, all the gameplay loops/mechanics are now intricate and intertwined to create a comprehensive and fleshed out gaming experience.

This is my story.  My story involves blowing shit up in order to survive.

 What i meant is that this update so far simples deletes basebuilding from the game. To give a further info on that regard, plastic explosive blows a full a metal wall in one go. I agree that they will probably take a look at wall durability but quite sure it was a oopsy, so it's kinda our  job to alert them (us who care about the game).
 Also i think it is worth mention that i see this as an amazing update and by any means i want worries to keep us from getting good features.

anyway playing dayz on an official server doesn't make sense...you can't exploit all the possibilities of the game, so you spend your time collecting stuff, making monstrously gross bases and shooting....
for the rest the additions are clearly made for a part of the community that does not exploit the possibilities of the game and whose only pleasure is pan pan boom boom....
fortunately on the private servers we will be able to remove what needs to be removed and we will wait for the judicious updates that will allow to renew the game experience. ( dyeing, crafting clothes, cooking, bow/crossbow, motorbike, bike, horses, pet, henhouse with chickens that lay eggs, zombie skin cutting to blend in the hordes, more different and coloured clothes, troop transport truck, bus, ....... real character design) in short everything that differentiates dayz from others games

When my hotbar and status icons are hidden the "Press F to open door" or "Survivor strong pulse" icons still pop up.

This ruins cinematic filming, it is no longer possible.

New weapons again? nice but i think it should improve what it already has, animations, imagine you take a bottle of water and really take the cap off when you drink, or when you eat a cookie the character opens the package, small changes like this would make the game much cooler i think, look at tarkov, every healing and food animation is awesome

Have to admit, I'm not at all enthused at the grenade launcher being included in DayZ. It's just going to end up in a load of knobs camping in certain spots and getting kills without even trying to be precise. Lob a grenade in the general direct of a player and you're almost guaranteed a kill.

 

Edit: Just saw that the claymore has a damage radius of 30m.

FFS.

STOP WEAPONS and EXPLOSIVES !!!!!
This is a survival game against the infected not another f*ck*ng war FPS. I already have all the Battlefield titles (which is done immensely better than DayZ) for it. Think about fixing the "real" defects of DayZ instead: Cheaters, crazy vehicles, glitches of various kinds. And make it EASIER to put tents and fences on the ground !!!! This need ! NOT anything else !!!!!

P.S.
What's this ? Are you trying to make the official servers deserted to be able to close them saving management costs?

Regarding bases this is my suggestion:

1. Keep wall strength, allow metal sheets to go over the wooden walls (so 2 layers on one frame).
2. Introduce window and door covers so that people don't need to waste so many materials building giant fence walls indoors (should be made out of wood and metal just like gates, window covers could also be made out of tarp).
3. Nerf the quantity of ammo/grenades spawning in the map by a significant amount. I just ran through one mili base on expy and found like 60 rounds of 5.45... way too many.

If you increase wall strength then you are making melee weapons even worse at raiding which is not what the issue is, overabundant grenades and ammo is the real issue.

Regarding the patch content:

I like everything EXCEPT the gas grenades. I really dislike them and I don't see how it fits into DayZ.

Yeah me too. I like them because of how crazy they are, but they are really inauthentic. Why would these grenades exists in the world? I don't think they should.

It is weird how many people on the internet are against cool new additions that make sense lore/world wise.

"Realistic badass M4 with high firerate? Simple grenadelauncher? Night Vision?

No please do not add these cool items! Please grind everything down into a fair and bland, harmless state!

We do not want cool millitary technology to blow stuff up, we do not want realism! Please just add harmless, uninteresting mud for us to roll in, we hate excitment!

Oh and please let us place that mud in our unraidable bases."

What about them is is inauthentic in your opinion? I haven't tried experimental yet, so just asking.

Why would Anited Nations or Chernarus Defense Force (The Armies) in DayZ have created a pokeball with skin melting gas inside, or made skinmelting-gas grenades for a grenade launcher?

The gas mortar strikes make sense for killing the infected people, but these small gas grenades do not in my opinion.

When i find them in the game I just think: Oh the devs added this because the could, not because it makes sense. Like if they added a rideable unicorn to the game.

Lol. I wasn't aware of the "pokeballs" you were talking about, I just saw them in a video. I'll have to agree with you, I personally don't mind about the grenade launcher gas nades, they're legit and existing and I've shot them in realife already, but these gas balls indeed don't make any sense to me aswell. I'll consider removing them from the loot pool on my non-mod vanilla server.
