Please tweak infected awareness

Infected are now wayyy to aware. For the love of god turn that shit down even just a little. The game is now frustrating and ive almost completely lost interest in playing. There so many now and there so aware stealth is almost impossible in areas including military zones. They see you and youre position is blown immediately. Not only that but youve got a whole squad of them waiting to get you.

Crouch walking is the way. Night time you can virtually walk in front of them. Day time requires a little more strategy and actual awareness of your surroundings before you commit to moving somewhere. Stealth kills for those you can get behind, silenced pistol for those you can't. Once you get the hang of it they're not that challenging and they deaggro really quickly if you go into a building.

I think it should be the other way around, they aren't supposed to be a minor inconvenience but an actual threat. Especially in military bases, high risk high reward.

They should be MORE aware than they are. They should swarm any player that they see or hear and fuck them up.

Stop racing around like your playing some FPS. DayZ is not that game. Take your time. Be quiet.

And if something looks too dodgy...just move on.

Dude I literally have to crouch walk my entire way through military zones and thats still not enough. They legit see through the walls and follow me around the building while crouch walking. Absolutely annoying and stupid I cant see how you could say something like that lmaoo

I crouch walk my entire way and me and my buddy both have the same issues. These infected have more awareness than most humans. It legit makes me not want to play its that bad. But youre just too good to agree huh?

Start wearing sneakers (sneakers, running shoes, athletic shoes - those that you spawn with), I've ditched all boots AND trail shoes (game considers them as boots) cause they are louder than sneakers.

I wish DayZ offered even slower sneaking which is much more quiet.

I also wouldn't mind a stealthy way (holding CTRL for example) of opening/shutting doors, eating and other things the player character does as if the world is not full of things that want to kill me...

Holding F to open door slowly would be nice.
Eating in general is just WAAAAAAAAY too loud... like wtf?

But I agree, we need more stealthy things and sound tweaks to the game.

I just looted Kamensk base in broad daylight with just a knife with zero aggro from zeds. Shanked the ones in my way in the back, ignored the rest. It's even easier at nigh sice you can just walk right in front of them and they won't see you. Bonus points for having a monitor which lets adjust gamma setting to make night bright as day (I'm ready to be judged).

Players are always wayyy too clueless.  For the love of God, people, pay attention.  It's so frustrating watching people stumble through the environment and never learning.  Stealth is so easy and players continually make bad decisions because they're so impatient.  It's so easy to pull just one zed at a time.  We really need to be careful because people cry for nerfs all the time.

Escape from Tarkov have good slower sneaking.

Yesterday I arrived at a roadbblock/bunker with six infected at daytime in Livonia in assault boots. I wanted to go for stealthkills and one of them noticed me like 15m away crouchwalking on grass while i was behind him and started to scream. Soon enough I was chased by five and had to run for the next barricade and jump on it to get safe. While I think they are probably a little too aware in this patch, I definitely like the challenge and the direction this is going. Infected need to be hard but I think the grass should a) not lead to detection while crouching out of their line of sight or b) you should  be able to be a little closer on soft surfaces. This case was just a little too harsh/unplausible. I agree that on hard surfaces it should be hard to sneak by, maybe even depending on how much gear you carry. Also weapons make sounds too when shouldered, so that should be in the mix as well, not only the boots/ ground surface.

Weapons making so much noise when shouldering makes no sense, even full auto weapons don't make much noise when you move them around. Hunting / sniper rifles are virtually silent. You can take an M4 and shake it around and unless something is terribly wrong with it it won't make much noise, bolt action rifles will make no sound at all.

To clarify: I was referring to shouldered weapons touching your gear, (i.e. like mags in vest) while you move. There´s already a sound in the game when you shoulder a weapon and move. I meant that this sound should be as well considered for your noise level, not only boots/surfaces. Anybody knows how it is in 1.15? And what about other sounds like sneezing while sick? Do the infected react to that as well?

Items in your inventory making sounds is fair, but if you were in a situation where a slightest noise can get you killed by a bunch of infected or murder crazy survivors you'd pack your stuff in a way that makes as little noise as possible, wrap things with tape or rags. In the game we can't take any measures to make things less noisy apart from improvised suppressors. So making everything noisy isn't a good idea. 

And I also agree we should be able to press and cold crtl to walk dead slow to make less noise or be able to open doors slowly.

i think the biggest problem with infected awareness is the complete lack of consistency. What works fine one moment doesn't always the next, so in effect you're rolling a dice whatever methods you employ.

Maybe of the some of the infected were working around heavy machinery and they experienced hearing loss from it while others had naturally good hearing.

I think lack of consistency is good. My biggest gripe though is that Zeds have built in GPS/ESP system in their brains as it seems.

No matter where you hide, if they are aggroed on you, they'll wait just outside of the house you are hiding in. Even if you want to sneak out of the back door, they'll know when you are near the back door.

And also knowing that there's open door on the other side of the building they saw you in even if they couldn't see that door.
