MarczXD320 171 Posted May 25, 2019 If i'm not mistaken, the PS4 version was actually announced first back in 2014 (before the Xbox One version), the game was always intended to launch on PS4 since the beginning. Since the Xbox One however had a Game Preview program though, they launched first there so they could ''test'' the console version properly with actual players. If it wasn't for the Game Preview, we most likely would have a simultaneous launch on both Xbox One and PS4 at the same time. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

You can't possible be complaining about more people getting access to DayZ and more money for development at BI. They took empty and lowpop servers that weren’t being utilized. Why would they pour money and resources into running some servers 24/7 to only get maybe a max player count of 5 people for maybe an hour during a peak time once or twice a week and then it be empty for the rest of the time? If you know anything about any kind of software development, it’s the mindset of “development is never finished” - just because something is at the stage named 1.0 doesn’t mean it’s a finished product, nor does it mean it’s bug-free, or it won’t crash, or that development on the product has ended. All it means is that it’s a point of development that is a stable commercial release. Look at any other product - they’re constantly evolving, getting different added/subtracted features, mechanics, firmware. Is a 2018 Chevy Camaro much different from a 2019 Chevy Camaro? You might as well just call them Camaro 1.0 and Camaro 2.0 and so on. Dish soap, Clothing, Sports Equipment. Air Filters, Candy, Musical Insteuments, GoPro didn’t just stop at its first iteration, they went thru 2, 3, 4, 5 hell they’ve made 7 different versions - literally GoPro 7.0 and they’re still updating it. Windows has gone thru probably 20 or 30 development cycles! It doesn’t mean they’re done making them. Go take a read on https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning and learn that DayZ can easily continue on to 2.0, 3.0, 4.0.1.56, etc. And even then - it can still be in “beta” phase or a free demo or even an alpha. If they had the money and resources they could even just release it as a F2P game, but they don’t. I believe I saw it was either Rockstar or Activision, can’t remember which, had a dev team of over 1,000 people working on their latest game (A THOUSAND DEVS), I’m pretty sure Bohemia has probably a total employee count of probably around maybe 50 to a few hundred, and even less of that is strictly dedicated to Xbox DayZ development - most of their resources pull into the ARMA series which is their actual huge cash grab, YLands, Vigor is pretty much almost the same game as DayZ but worse in my opinion and dying on its last life. From going back to watching gameplay of 0.60 and before - DayZ has jumped LIGHTYEARS ahead in almost every aspect of development and plays ridiculously better now than it ever has. It’s undeniably gotten improved exponentially and having a huge resurgence especially on PC with modded servers. You want the game to keep getting better? People gotta eat. Get their bills paid. Families taken care of. I paid my $40 on day one and have absolutely gotten my money’s worth, even after everything. As soon as I installed the game on release day you couldn’t even get past the main menu, servers wouldn’t even show up. Literally you couldn’t even play the game. Just sat on the browser with everything empty. Was I kinda pissed? Yeah. Did it get fixed? Yeah. Is it still being fixed? Yup. Are their still gonna be problems? You bet. Get over it.
