exacomvm 101 Posted June 10, 2018 Would be cool to have some small/mid lenght Storyline in offline mode when the Beta launches basically just to show what you can do, like storyline/tutorial of showing all recipes all weapons all vehicles etc, how to use compass and so on. So new players could learn DayZ quickly making it easier for newbies who currently struggles alot, and maybe it would be fun just to play it when u have no internet and fight some AI enemies ( e.g. traveling w/ laptop etc ).
Sqeezorz 839 Posted June 10, 2018 or a better in some languages manual, are more helpfull. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steam/apps/221100/manuals/DayZ_Public_Alpha_Manual.pdf?t=1521640014
Parazight 1594 Posted June 10, 2018 This is a good idea. Whether it's with a story-line or some other introduction, I don't know. Something should be there to transition from being totally unfamiliar with the game to having the ability to not die because of frustration with the controls. You really shouldn't have to learn the game by studying the in-game keybindings. Also, I've always hoped that there'd be some sort of offline shooting-range, if only to become familiar with the controls.

Sure, you can have some sort of tutorial to explain some really basic stuff like "use W to walk forward" but figuring everything out is one of the aspects of DayZ. We've all started and we've all been there. There are if I'm correct 2 shooting ranges at the moment. One is at Tisy and one is at the remodeled NWAF.

We did have to figure it out on our own. Still feels gross to learn though. It just doesn't feel authentic washing up on the coast and not knowing how to do the simplest of things. Go back to when the first stress test was released. Plenty of frustration by veteran DayZ players over basic character controls. All I'm saying is that at the end of the development, it would be a good idea to put something in place to encourage players, as exacomvm suggested.
