I started playing on a 1pp server again today after a while only playing 3pp and I noticed again I always feel like I am a midget in 1pp. Character length seems very short in relation to doors, ceilings and when walking in grass. Also, I am not a large guy (1.75m) in real life and still think the characters must be about 1.60m or so.

What do you think? Should the perspective be brought up a little?

Or should character length be random at spawn? Say between 1.65m and 2.05m? (Advantages for both, smaller guy has smaller hit area and maybe can turn faster and taller guy is stronger but more cumbersome in his movements)

I think the only thing that should increase is the character's perspective, especially while in Crouching mode, as there are several instances where you cannot see over windows that seem plausibly short enough to scan over.

Making a random length spawn won't work because players will just kill themselves to get a new player perspective that suits their needs - That would break immersion.

Also, I believe the art team made like 20-something new characters to choose from that they'll be putting into the game at some point.

Players also suicide a lot when they don't like their spawn location, so let them suicide.

I guess a solution could be that you can choose (or customize) the length of your character, that way everyone can use the character they please.

Suicide for spawn conditions should be disincentivised by increasing spawn timers by ten minutes for every death occurring less than ten minutes after spawn, for all accounts with more than 50 hours of playtime.

The new player controller will hopefully allow for finer control of character view postures in 1pp.  You say the character is too short.  When is the last time you have driven a V3s in 1pp?  Your head is almost through the roof of the truck.  It's a posture/perspective issue, not player size.

I didn't vote, the poll is based on a flawed premise.

You're used to having your eyes flying high above your head. Of course you're going to feel small when the camera is brought down.

Perceived or real scale/perspective issues with certain assets, not the characters' height.

They are approximately 1,8 m.

Actually, I think the players are way too big, or the interiors and houses are way too small.

I had a thread even about this subject, with photos and all for reference, take a look brother:

Maybe they changed the 1pp camera so its on a lower position on your body and not actually where the eyes would be; but in 3pp, or if you observe another player close to objects, you shall see how small things actually are. Its kinda funny even, sort of thing I can't "unsee", its like, chairs are way too smal for someone to sit on them; stairs in buildings like that huge one in Novo barelly fit one person; the player's feet is way bigger then the steps on a stair etc. Big proportion problems tbh that can easily break immersion.

BUT, I played the last patch for a really, REALLY short time just to test how my new computer runs the game (runs great btw), and haven't actually tryied to notice things to give feedback as I used to do you see, so they might have rescaled the player models, and this thread I did is no longer valid and I'm actually saying some mad shit here.

Unfortunately I'm posting from my sister's notebook, can't get into the game to see it myself and post images, but images are quite good to make things clear man.

i'm waiting for the player controler thingy to get back into DayZ.
