Always spawn in a costal area on login

Recommended Posts

Characters should always spawn into a re-spawn location when logging into the game. No more spawning in exactly where you logged out.

  • Inland cities could be locked down by guarding the perimeter
  • Server hopping would end
  • It would be a challenge to move inland each session
  • Transportation would become even more valuable
  • Coastal activity and interactions would surge
  • Players could not longer unrealistically magically spawn in anywhere by server hopping
  • Many more reasons. There are some drawbacks but overall this would dramatically improve the game.

That would be a (pardon me) fucking awful idea. Ruin any sense of permanence the game has.

Why build a base, if you are just going to respawn on the coast? Why go through the time and effort to fix a vehicle, if you are just going to respawn on the coast? Why do anything except for turning the coastline into a giant free-for-all, since you are just going to spawn there when you log out, gear-be-damned?

No thanks.

Your base and vehicle would still be where you left it. Run back. Your gear wouldn't change.

I get that you think it's fucked, but the current system is also fucked.

Some aspects of your reasoning I understand but I really hate the idea of making a trek to the other side of the map so I can investigate there, running out of play time and having to do the trek again the next time I play. Apart from the fact these spawn areas would be surrounded by sniper fags knowing targets will always be plenty. With the way I play this game I would have no interest to fight my way out of an area EVERY time I log in to the game. The North and West would become even more deserted than they already are. The way I see the fact that you spawn in at the place you logged off is like taking a rest and catch some shut eye, than wake-up in the same spot and continue your journey. Some game mechanics will always be abused, nothing to be done about it. Your suggestion has more down- than upsides imo.

I can't wait to trek from Cherno to Tisy, stop for 30 minutes to make dinner and then make that trek all over again. I can't wait for the server to reset so I can make that trek again. That sounds like so much fun.

Transportation would become almost useless. It'd be fine if you happened to run across a fully functional car on the coast, but good luck if you're trying to repair a car next to, I don't know, Stary Yar and then you have to log out for whatever reason.

Why is a surge of coastal interactions a good thing? The vast majority of interactions happen on the coast - all this would do is limit interactions further inland.

If you don't like server hopping then play on private servers. I don't understand why solutions to server hopping are almost always batshit - yes it's an issue, but how is this a good solution?

we already have plenty of "coastal interactions" with me they ussually go:

me: hi are you friendly?

other guy: *pulls gun up* *blam *blam *blam

me: *you are dead*

I think I figured out why I like your posts so much.  I was trying to figure out if it was actually what you are saying or if its Peter Dinklage.  It's both but the latter definitely makes me like you more.  So from now on I will be liking every post I see of yours just because I like your avatar.
