Scythe Massakur 0 Posted March 28, 2016 So, I've just finished building my first PC, and I want to play Day Z. Already made a character and I'm in game. Are there any hint pages or groups of people that help the 'bambis'?
JBURNS489 165 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) There are quite a few guides on YouTube and some even on this forum. I watched a ton of guides before I started but I didn't really feel like I "knew" the game until I had a few hours in and had some questions to ask. Google search is your best friend, and welcome to dayz! https://forums.dayz.com/forum/122-new-player-discussion/ Edited March 28, 2016 by JBURNS489

c4p 30 Posted March 28, 2016 Do yourself a favor and don't watch/read too much stuff. It's really cool to discover the map and mechanics by your own^^ gl+hf!

Not to mention the fact that a bunch of the in-game replays etc are basically just streamers who are jockeying for "biggest fucking idiot in internet gaming" awards. It's helpful to know that a bunch of people in the DayZ world are douche canoes... but don't let that stop you from playing the game the way you want. If douche is what you like to do, then by all means- but there is room for all styles of gamers within the world of DayZ.
xgobacktosleep 21 Posted May 4, 2016 Read some of the guides, use Google to search for specifics you're curious about (zeroing, map familiarizing, etc.), but my advice is to just study the map and explore. That's the only way you will really learn, or at least it was in my case. It won't take you long to get certain landmarks/locations down. I also advise to study/print out the Cyrillic alphabet because it's really easy to learn and can help tremendously in-game (reading signs is a great way to figure out where you are).
