My top 1 concern

Recommended Posts

is the FPS, thats just a personal opinion, im not here to discuss further into it. My question is just if on 0.59 we will see more then 50 frames in big citys and on problematic ones aswell. IF anyone has a concrete answer please share. I really wanna go back to day z.

Hey,

you posted similar questions in a previous thread.  I said i was getting between 40-60 in the larger towns, but now i've had a good play around it's more like 30-50 in elektro etc (on 50/50 servers).

The improvements are there, but nobody can say how the update will perform on your system.

Do you have the game purchased?  If so, just jump in.  Unless you have bandwidth restrictions or somethig, there's literally nothing anybody can say that you can't experience yourself.

For me it's slightly better but only marginally so. It's a long way from 50 fps in Cherno IMO and to expect that performance from a mid development game with next to no optimisation is being massively unrealistic. I average about 30fps with most graphic settings on high/very high so depending on your rig and the settings you are happy to play with their is certainly room to manoeuvre, additionally using the new ui will help to boost frames (I'd heard it was linked to the GPU you have- better the GPU better the frame increase with new ui).

Yeah, legacy UI has seen marginal improvements, maybe even placebo but I'm hearing good things from the -newui camp, still haven't switched to it myself yet...

It's worse for me - significantly - in 0.59. In fact, at a cumulative level, it's getting worse and worse with each patch. Guess I need a new machine...but in the absence of one, the FPS issue makes PvP pretty much impossible, and everything else mildly unpleasant.

Have to say I enjoyed the game much more 18 months ago, when it had fewer features and what seemed like a much faster frame rate.

I think he's actually talking about the fps, cause the more you add in therms of design into your game, the more it takes from server performance to give information in real time for the client (us). So basicly, the Frames (FPS) are attached to server performance. Take arma 3 multiplayer servers with 90 people playing as an example, if you jump in there and put your specs on ultra you won't see any big fps loss comparing it with low graphics (that is if you have an average pc that can ran the game on ultra on any circunstances). But, if you jump on a 40 man server on the same map, same graphics, you'll probably gain 20 more fps.

Thats all because the server are not powerfull enought to deliver so much amount of information to all this people, basicly people think its better to play with 30 more people then having 20 more frames, wich makes a big difference for people that play with 25 frames a game that could be running with 45 solid frames at all times and in a ultra setting quality.

When I started playing 0.59 the game ran much better than before. Better than 58 and 59 exp. It also looked better for some reason. Now, that is gone. The game actually runs worse in towns than before. I have no idea why. I run the game on quite high quality and have done so always as I notice no improvement but an extreme loss of quality on lower resolutions. It does differ between servers quite a lot so i guess it has to do with items rendering in the world somehow.

I too have noticed a slight decrease in FPS while in towns, although it could be possible that other programs are running (conditions are different  from day0, 0.59) or that the high FPS at the time was simply anomalous....  Irrespective, my performance has increased and is now 30-50 (compared to 40-60 before) although i do seem to get 40-60 in rural areas and the lower band quoted in more urban.

I did however notice, that all of my settings defaulted to Ultra at 0.59 release, and i've had to scale them back to Normal-high... also , not sure if the settings i have chosen now are the same as before (pre-being autoset to ultra for some reason) but it could also be the reason for FPS increase, in that objects are rendering more obviously as poor quality at longer distances, and pop into better quality textures as i approach.  I have not noticed this before, and could account for better fps.  It is however distracting and gives false sense of 'movement' in the distance...

So yeah, pro's and cons.

Again, nobody can explain to you the performance of the game on your system.  If you have it purchased and installed, there's literally no purpose for this thread as you should just hop in and see for yourself, then discuss your experience in the 0.59 stable discussion thread.  And again (again again) the game is still Alpha, still in EA, and still has the regular swathe of bugs, glitches and oddities to be expected.  Some have been fixed from times passed, some have developed into something else, but they're there to varying degrees.

I'm enjoying 0.59 more than most updates, personally.

for me it actually got worse, normally when setting everything to low quality i got around 50 fps in woods, and about 20 in the middle of cherno, now i am happy about 30 in the woods and above 10 in cherno, unplayable for me atm

i just hope optimization is not to long away in the roadmap the devs set themselves

Very valid concern. At the moment though, I think anyone will be struggling to get 50 fps in cities. There's still a lot of work to be done in terms of optimization.

I think you should worry about getting a better ISP, not FPS.

Yeah, you're going to be bottlenecked by lowest common denomenator.

Not going to get anything worth playing, if you have a beast of a machine and a 56k diallup modem ;)

i have about 1.2 MB/Second downloadrate, and thats enough for any online game, and DayZ still takes approx. 8 hurs to download

The data sent to the Server/received is minimal, if that impacts the playability of dayZ i would be quite suprised

desync and lag is far more common if you have one of those cheap ISPs that are handing out 50 MB/s connections for 5 bucks a month
