Need some help with performance

Recommended Posts

I just started playing DayZ Standalone again after a few months, I got a new graphics card so I was hoping to see how good the game would look, though I've been having (relatively) horrible performance compared to what I'd expect, and have tried a lot of things.

On my current settings I can sometimes manage to scrape up 60fps when facing open areas or some forests etc, when looking into a city, large or small (Basically anywhere with more than 10 separate buildings I assume) my fps drops to below 30, sometimes hitting 20. I can understand my FPS dropping when looking at a city, but this much? And with my specs?

I was assuming I would be getting 100 fps in non-city areas and never hitting below 60 in general, based on FPS I've received in other games.

Most my settings are either on medium or low/very low, with the exception of Antialiasing and textures, which are both on high/very high. I've tried setting them as low but it didn't seem to impact my FPS very much. I've used optimization guides and I tried unparking my CPU cores, both of which didn't make much of an effect. I'm pretty stuck here with options to make the game more playable on my system.

My specs are:

CPU: i7 3820

CPU Cooler: Kraken X61 liquid cooler

GPU: GTX 980 Ti

Mobo: Gigabyte X79 UD3

PSU: Corsair GS800

RAM: 16GB @1600MHz

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO

My CPU is generally at 3.6GHz, I tried overclocking it to around 4.2 in an attempt for more frames, though it didn't seem to do anything.

Thanks for the help in advanced.

Oh.

That kind of performance.

turn off pp, aa on low, shadows on medium, and object detail on medium.

B@ker, just attempted those settings then, FPS was literally sitting on approximately the same amount, no idea why.

Just some added info; My CPU usage only generally goes up to about 44%, with RAM at a lower percentage

I didn't check my GPU but I'm sure a 980Ti wouldn't be bottlenecking aha

I have an i7 @4.2, a 989ti etc etc etc and average 20-30 in Cherno/elektro with dips below 20 on occasion with all settings high or very high.

Sure fire way to improve your frames is to wait for he game to be completed and optimised. You can do some tweaking to config files and turning some settings up can shift workload off of the cpu but otherwise it's just the nature of the beast.

Lastly, all this info has been posted hundreds of times, a quick search will provide links to different guides including one from SMoss with a breakdown of different settings.

I am jealous of your frames. I would kill for 20 in cities. Try 5 in cities, and MAYBE 20-30 in the country. This is with a 750ti and a AMD Anthelon II 645 4x on a solid state. WITH all the edits and file changes.

This is exactly why I stopped by...  :P
