Recommended Posts

Since day 1 of buying Dayz SA Ive had graphics issues Im hoping to find help resolving..
However recently Ive run into an error message where the game crashes and says the memory cant be ready reference 0x00000008. etc. etc.

Ive tried multiple things including reinstalling Dayz and restarting the computer.. Ill attach some pictures of the graphics, some of them are my character inside of a building, and the walls are gone..

Looks kinda like what a PC/Laptop thats struggling to run the game looks like to me.

Always check system requirements before purchasing games.

I Have a PC
16GB Ram
2GB Vid Card 960gx NVIDIA

i5 3.9 ghz Processor
2TB Hardrive

Windows 7 Premium 64 Bit

It should be more then capable of running the game... Ive had it play great from time to time, and when it does it runs great and the graphics look great ( as great as early Alpha gets).
But more times then not it runs laggy, choppy and basically minecraft has better graphics...

The first post of the thread, 2nd and 4th pic Im inside a house.. walls, floors and furniture disapear, but can usually still items such as clothing or food.

Any chance you are plugged into the onboard video?

There is a chance, but no, it is in the video card... all of my other games play with max graphic settings by default- Skyrim, Starcraft II, etc..
Its deffinatly just an issue with Dayz and has prevented me from playing a game I really want to enjoy for the past 6 months..
Windows is up to date, but not activated with a key, would that cause anything??
As well ive searched and tried many things, aside from uninstalling my  graphics driver, and my OS...

I have an account on the feedback tracker, opened a seperate ticket for each issue but mentioned both within eachother.. quit getting responses so I came here..

Unfortunatly, The crash and terrbile graphics both happen all the time, and dont seem to be triggered by anything I do, the game sometimes crashes within 5 seconds of joining a server (any server Ive tried) and can also last as much as 15 mins before crashing, which is almost always while Im simply walking around or standing still.

The graphics get really shotty at anytime, mostly with movement, I can temporarily fix it by changing the rendering resolution or overall quality... resetting the graphics.
After doing this, they sometimes get bad immediatly after closing the menu, sometimes as soon as I move my character afterwards, and othertimes just when I enter a building.

However, both issues are very consistent and dont seem to happen reliably with one action..

However, I attached the Dayz.Zip and Dxdiag to my ticket..

Unlike other devs, where it takes 6-10 days just to get an acknowledgement, the DayZ devs tend to be pretty responsive, especially when it comes to crash reports. I typically get a response within 24 hours, except on the weekend, obviously.

If it is a non critical error they may ask for additional information and then file the bug away, to deal with it at a later date. If that happens with your video issue, we'll certainly try to help you out. Just keep us in the loop.

Cheers!

Are you overlocking?

Running release or beta drivers?

Have you actually turned up the graphics in the settings?

is the extra power connector firmly attached to the grahpics card?

what are your running temps whilst gaming?

Not set to overclock, its a 3.5ghz-3.9ghz. I havent set it any higher then the base spec.

Its just NVIDIA Geforce I have, dont believe its a a beta or anything.

Ive played with the settings in-game lots to try different settings, have used Geforce to optimize the graphics for the game, which may have helped the graphic quality when theyre actually good, but hasnt affected when they actually bugger up.

The video card just snaps in one place, dont believe it had any other power to it that Im aware of.

Temps normally sit around 30-40 Celcius... Gaming something like LoL or Skyrim Ill see 40-50 and Dayz the highest I have ever seen is 70. ( I have a friend with a similar but older computer build and hes seen in the 90s which is obviously not good, but he runs the game like a dream.)

And yes I got a swift reply on the tracker after I added the Zip file and Dxdiag, I will see where that ends up..

A few other things you can try if you are out of ideas,  the following will set some variables back to default

A) Steam

In steam library, go to dayz, right click properties, 'set launch options' and remove any options in there (reinstalling dayz does not reset steam launch parameters)

B ) DayZ

If you've made any changes to your config you can reset it to default

 exit Dayz

 go to  C:\Users\(Username)\Documents\DayZ\

 rename Dayz.cfg to DayZ_Backup.cfg

then restart the game, it'll create a new default dayz config, then you'll have to readjust your video settings in game

C) Nvidia

Go to windows control panel, then nvidia control panel, then Manage 3D settings

Under Global Settings, set preferred processor to "auto select" and click 'restore' on the bottom

(Disclaimer: This may effect your other game profiles)

Under Program Settings, find dayz, locate  "select the preferred graphics processor " and choose "Use Global Setting (Auto-Select:  nvidia GPU)

good luck

Well Ive tried damn near everything except a clean video driver uninstall/ reinstall and a windows reinstall..
I fiddled with a few things and set some launch parameters, now the color scheme changes before lauch, my OS is 64 bit and I believe I accidentally set the game to 32 bit somehow.. of course with all my scrambling I dont remember how.

HOWEVER, my game does not appear to crash anymore.. The only issue Im currently struggling with is the absolutly horrible graphics... any ideas??

It means you are only using a total of 4 GB RAM, this includes your video RAM...

Also, your vid card should have an extra power connector, it needs this. From your power supply there shoukd be a 6 pin connector connected to your card.

Obviously, before plugging it in power your pc down first.

quite a bit actually, limits the total addressable memory of your system to 3gb this includes vram. If you switch to a 64 bit i would wager your problems would evaporate

You say:

"2GB Vid Card 960gx NVIDIA"

do you mean:

GeForce GTX 960 2GB  ?

GeForce says- specs: Power Consumption

"With a rated board TDP of 120W, it requires at least a 400W PSU with one available 6-pin connector. "

any help?

Yes Geforce And I have a 95 W or 1000W PSU ( Dont remember exact value and don't feel like taking the case off lol. I will check on this extra 6 pin connecter... Although it runs Starcraft 2, ESO, LoL and Battlefield 4 with beautiful graphics..
