ATLAS Bipod thread: once and for all

Recommended Posts

Okay, now I don't know from where this game is coming.

My current situation:

I have an AKM with a rail handguard. I can't fit the ATLAS bipod on it (nor weapon flashlight).

Me and another guy is experiencing the same problem in this thread:

https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/228737-rail-bipodflashlight-and-akm-magazines/

Meanwhile, a guy in THIS thread says that it works like intended. No problems putting the ATLAS Bipod on the AKM with rail:

https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/228864-akm-or-blaze-95-as-primary/?p=2306491

What the hell is going on here?

It definitely didn't work for me on either a 101 or a 74 (both with pristine rail guards) the last time I tried it, a few days after the patch. so either:

1. It's been fixed (?)

2. He's confused

3. He's using a technique for doing it that no one else has come up with.

The ATLAS bipod only fits the M4A1 (if I'm not mistaken)

tested it today on exp build with ak101, ak74, akm, and it worked with none

so m4 is the only weapon that can take them at the moment

or #3 of what mookie said, in that case, if you read this supersloth, plase enlighten us

I just played few times before i managed to get bipod to AKM. I dont drag it to the rail, i drag it to the weapon in inventory window, as i did with flashlight, kashtan and silencer and buttstock.

Btw is your rail in which condition?

EDIT: I have it in stable

I was using my friend's M4 the other night when he died which had an attached bipod. I haven't been able to attach a bipod to an AK variant (with the appropriate hand rail) for quite some time.

EDIT: pix plz?

How do I get the rail onto the AK101? I've tried painting the rail itself and swapping it out and got no where then I tried painting the gun to make the attachments disappear but the Polymer handguard instantly reappeared. :(

Hands empty, gun in your back, double click the rail.

Works at least every other ak variant, not tryed with 101 yet.

So the step-by-step guide for the hard-of-understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is:

1. Find and paint a rail guard. (Black or green? Does it matter?)

2. Take old guard off by putting gun on your back, hands free, double click on guard icon in inventory (this def works with AK101 btw.)

3. Put new, painted rail guard on by moving its inventory icon to gun inventory icon.

4. Then same for bipod.

5. Discard or keep old guard.

6. Stop looking for an M4... :P

This is correct. The AK Handguard Rail MUST be painted black.

From the weapon attachment game file for the ATLAS Bipod in 0.58. (This is my first post, I hope it isn't against the rules)

attachmentCondition = "(_parent itemInSlot 'weaponHandguardM4') isKindOf 'Att_Handguard_M4RIS' or (_parent itemInSlot 'weaponHandguardAK') isKindOf 'Att_Handguard_AK_Rail_Black'";

Probably just accidental that the black handguard was specified.

So now I can turn my super-recoiling man cannon into a proper support weapon!? I recently swapped my thirsty aug out for an AKM. During my first encounter, my well constructed ambush was foiled by an uncontrollable bout of recoil after a short blat. Fortunately he didn't know how to serpentine and I was able to tag him as he ran away.

What is the recoil like once the bipod is deployed? Do you have to be prone to receive the bonuses?

I think you're better off with a 101 tbh. Am about to test bipod on a 101, having had a mildly frustrating half an hour before remembering to, like the man said 'paint it black', etc, etc.

Chose AKM because of ammo availability. Had an aug and burnt through 60 rounds alarmingly fast. I'd like to be able to throw down some real suppressing fire should the opportunity arise.
