Hand wraps, gloves, knuckle-dusters and punching potentially hurting your hands

Recommended Posts

Right to keep it simple - point form:

- first - punching should eventually hurt your hands, with a chance of sustaining a fracture (e.g. boxer's fracture - shaft of 5th metacarpal).

- gloves can offer you some protection, as footwear does for running.

- knuckle-dusters prevent this altogether, and of course beef up damage.

- you can use rags as hand wraps to bind up your knuckles and give you a poor-man's protection.

What would having a fractured hand do to your character? Would there be negatives to having it like there are with fractured arms and legs?

If northen this is pointless because no one would care if their hands got hurt as it doesn't impact the game at all.

Not trying to sound rude, I think it makes sense (although knuckle dusters are still meant to hurt your hand when you punch someone with them aren't they?)

If they do hurt your hand, it could impair several things.

1. Shaking hand while aiming with a gun. Affecting accuracy.

2. Inability to use certain items. AKA, a gun, axes, driving, etc etc.

Hello there

I still have some chipped bones in some knuckles from where I got in to a scrap in my younger days. Still hurts occasionally.

Fist combat should be painful, gloves should assist with that.

When you hit someone, if you make contact with bone, it blimmin hurts although adrenaline usually  stops the instant pain and lets it hammer you later on.

I like the thought of damaging hands

Well I've driven with two broken fingers (sure it hurt changing gear but it was certainly doable), as for not being able to use a gun or something I wouldn't know but I figure it'd be possible just painful. I could understand there being delays in doing things that require dexterity like reloading and such but I don't see how it would cause sway/shaking whilst holding a weapon.

Don't get me wrong, I think the idea is cool and fits but I don't think most of the suggestions here about implications of it are that plausible.

Maybe have it reduce damage of punching when hands are hurt or slowing certain actions but not prevent you from driving, shooting etc.

You can still walk around with a fractured leg, too. It's not like in ArmA where you're forced to do the slow crawl whenever you move no matter what. Your abilities would just be impaired; more shaking on your guns/melee weapons, less damage on melee and risk of further injury, etc.

I'm not sure what they could do to make your driving worse, though, but it is possible to drive with a fractured hand, so that may not need to change.

I think the damaged hands is a good idea too. Each action where you use your hand would take longer and result in more spillage- Aiming as mentioned would be less steady. I'm not sure where the cannabis plant comes in but one more reason to have it and morphine.

I like these ideas you have Roshi I cant recall it being suggested before as there is alot of regurgitated ideas/ sub ideas of ideas and sub, sub ide... but yes you get the point :D
