Dan92Nor 3 Posted August 27, 2015 I bought Dayz Standalone the moment it got out played a littlebit, and took a break until 0.57 was released and i saw all the improvement. So i was very excited about 0.58. I never tried experimental so i went straight from 0.57 to 0.58. First thing i noticed is the new 3pp. I think its alot better than the old one. The controlls feels alot more smooth with the new 3pp.I also think i have a small increase in fps when playing. The game is slightly more optimised or maybe its because the zombies are gone?Spawn system also appear to be alot better now. You will find stuff but you also have actually look, and you have to check every place if u want to find something good. I havent found ammo everywhere like in 0.57, so ammo is more rare and you have to think before using your bullets, or try to escape instead. After around 4 hour gameplay i havent seen a single zombie yet, but i have ran into alot of players.Mostly hostile survivors, but also one friendly funny guy at the airport close to the shipwreck :)
jayfkay (DayZ) 185 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) I get a lot better fps in cities. I accredit that to the nonexistant zombies and the sparse loot.Other than that I planned nolifing the patch, but will be on standby until persistence is working well again. edit: Again I am up to trade nearly anything in the game for a Boar pelt. PM me if you need anything, we'll figure it out. Edited August 27, 2015 by jayfkay

PM me if you need anything, we'll figure it out. I haven't seen a boar since they upgraded the animal AI and that's with playing .58 like a full time job actively hunting. Not that it'd help you because I'm back on private but as soon as I have my coast base camp set up I'm going hunting. I'll post pics when I get one of those oinkers on the ground.
eno 1049 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) I have noticed a few textures look like they have a layer of ice on them but knowing this will change I don't want to sound critical of it- purely an observation. I have had a relatively smooth experience so far though. I like the increased challenge but am disappointed about hearing of continuing loot spawns of high speed gear. I'm eating apples to stay alive while the next guys children will have 4 shoulders each having evolved from the need to carry so many AKs. Don't get me wrong we'll tap the resource as well if it's out there but I'd be content if it was less available. Edited August 27, 2015 by ENO75
lrp1984 199 Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) I've encountered more bugs than usual. The most worrying being the level of desync. I've had a friend drive across to me in a truck, park beside me, get out, walk around for five minutes, punch me a few times all without me being able to see him or the truck. I felt the punches though and incurred damage. Also, and I guess its the same bug, I have come across a friend that was stood still in the middle of a field, his character remained there for 15 minutes whilst on his end he was running around some distance away setting up a camp. I was able to punch him which caused him damage. This has happened several times in a couple days to my small group, so I think there will be a lot of reports of "hackers" which are actually glitches in the game. A worrying part of this is if you play lone-wolf, you have no real idea if this is happening to you. You might think you're perfectly hidden in a tree line scoping out the town, but the rest of the players see you stood still by a well, ripe to be punched or killed. This is interesting since it mimics a bug that was often pointed at invisible zombies or invisi-hackers... Makes me wonder if this is pre-existing. I've never seen a desync like that before but I can imagine it would cause a lot of frustration on the receiver.
ZogVarnoka 26 Posted August 28, 2015 I've found that when desynch happens (playing lonewolf here) like not being able to pick up or interact with items at all, leaving the building or area and coming back and opening doors help to get the server up to speed on my location. Sometimes that doesn't work. So, I just relog to fix the issue.
sushimaster 6 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) I was playing .58 a few weeks before it went stable & I still hadn't seen a single zomble. I was getting bored earlier today & had like 200 .22 rounds and found a trumpet in one of those security guard buildings with the busted out windows & I was like... "what the hell" & fired off a few dozen rounds & a zambee just tardwaddles right past the windows all special ed like he's gonna miss the icecream truck & scares the living beejeebus outta me! my god I thought I'd die right there... left the door wide open and everything! Mookie (original) 799 Posted September 1, 2015 For my playstyle (lone wolf, crash site hunting, trading, exploring) probably the easiest patch to play was 0.47, last summer, when crash sites and M4s were reintroduced and loot was everywhere. I don't feel that this patch is radically more difficult in terms of staying alive. Perhaps like others, there were moments getting off the coast when I thought I might not make it, but I did. Also I think I just know what I'm doing much better than 18 months ago in terms of game mechanics, etc. The hours and days following a new patch - especially one involving a wipe - always feel pretty hectic. I get a sense that a lot of people who were able to get in early and who had played exp had a serious advantage, and perhaps also took advantage of some broken loot mechanics at the officer barracks. That bit - the sheer focus on NWAF (and less so at Myshkino) - is a problem if you want anything that's in those barracks, and could probably do with a fix in time. Of course crash hunting is an alternative, and one I'm really glad to see back in the game (although have pretty much given up on the idea of finding M4s at crash sites...) I'm a bit worried about the relative paucity of medical stuff. Oh, and one thing that I used to take some pride in - putting together a complete ingame map - seems impossible now because I haven't seen a single map since 0.57. I'm also just a tad worried about persistence and whether it's working properly, and (much more so) about the sheer amount of server abuse that has been absolutely rampant since the patch. Perhaps it's calming down a little now. Other than that, I think is a really good patch and am enjoying the game more than I have for ages. :D
