CS14 133 Posted August 9, 2015 Took a break for a little while now, not sure which patch I last played exactly. Thoughts?
Bororm 1156 Posted August 9, 2015 I think you should wait for the next patch, which is likely this week. There's going to be a wipe, and things will change so you may as well wait. Unless you're really itching to play, then why not?

Unless you're really itching to play, then why not? well, yeah. .58 defiantly worth a shot. it is awesome at experimental right now.
S3V3N 1402 Posted August 9, 2015 I'm tempted to download the Exp, but I'll wait for the next stable. I'm glad the team is actually not pushing the stable releases any more, unless they actually are (more) stable. The advantage of this (to me) is that we get to play the stable for a longer period of time without wipes or other obstacles. I want more than just to test the mechanics and run around with PvP in mind. I really like living in the Dayz universe for more than a day. After a day of work, it's nice to startup Dayz, hang around a camp with some friends and have a chat. And then go out together and shoot some zombies, deer or the occasional player. I don't play for the loot, I play for the fun of meeting a few people, who I barely see outside of Dayz. It's kinda awesome how we have this parallel life there and can just hang out and have fun for a few hours. I like that feeling and it's what I keep coming back for. tux (DayZ) 325 Posted August 9, 2015 One thing I wouldn't expect to see is a lot of zeds. Due to unexpected performance issues, the zeds in 0.58 exp were removed for a while, and now they are spawning, but in very low numbers. I assume we'll see the same thing one 0.58 hits stable. The good thing is, we'll be getting persistence back, 12 hr restarts to go along with it, and hopefully working CLE (loot spawning & despawning). Survivors will now need to do more than memorize V3S truck spawn locations, as they are dynamic (I might be wrong on this), and require vehicle parts found around the map to start any vehicle. With the CLE beginning to shape up, we'll no longer see lootsplosions, which allowed a player to quickly get full military-grade gear on the coast. The loot spawning and allowed number if certain items can be changed without any major changes on the part of BI, so they will be fine-tuning the inland / northwest push from players spawning the coast via loot control. The game in it's current experimental state is also has shown a lot of performance changes. Personally, I've seen growth in FPS on my very low quality rigs, which really helps make the game more playable. Hopefully this is the new performance benchmark that the team wants to have every stable patch candidate meet; once the too many zeds problem is solved, we'll be able to see hoards of zeds without much performance loss. TL;DR: What everyone else has been saying. Wait around a week for stable to come out, or play the experimental branch now, as it's practically a stable patch (has been stable for most of the 0.58 experimental run), and should be pretty close to what we'll see as a full stable branch. blackberrygoo 1416 Posted August 9, 2015 You sound like the type that wouldn't want to download experimental version and get into it , that being said wait for .58 to reach stable branch because im having the most fun with .58 experimental out of all the builds of dayz... It truly is shaping up to be the only survival game needed out there by survival / open world enthusiasts, and slowly but surely with all the eye candy content added at the very end of the alpha cycle we will see all the casuals pulled in as well because you damn well know they won't be able to resist the awesomeness that will be Dayz 1.0 . TL;dr : wait for .58 stable or download .58 experimental as it is the best patch in dayz so far .
Shiva_O 10 Posted August 10, 2015 Ugh, is there definately a wipe coming? I've spent ages gearing up to the level of loot im at now.

billyangstadt 272 Posted August 10, 2015 Ugh, is there definately a wipe coming? I've spent ages gearing up to the level of loot im at now. Absolutely there is. The ungodly amount of military grade weapons would destroy the CLE algorithms.
karlkurtz32 59 Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) Nope, don't play. I took a 3 month break. Came back about a 2 weeks ago. It is still the same. I ran around the map on full servers seeing absolutely no one for hours. And when I did finally see someone it was instant KoS. No interaction at all. The game is still too boring for most people so they just shoot anything that moves. Edited August 10, 2015 by karlkurtz32

Even when they add all the content in the world people wont stop from killing , this is the apocalypse , you better get the jump on the guy next time so you can control the situation better ! This game has provided me more hours than any other game save for monster rancher 2 (Lolz) and I'm seeing it blossom into a beautiful ass creature that shatters expectations of quality of multiplayer games . Stick around and in about 1-3 months we are going to see an Influx of new content and server optimization people won't be able to stay away ! I personally can't wait for .59 branch , confirmed 3 new vehicles , more in depth vehicle repairing mechanic and who knows what else new content .

But actually, if your anxious to get back to playing, get it done now. I love the game, still do. But if you dont mind waiting a bit, wait for the next stable branch, like I am. Break, play, repeat. CS14 133 Posted August 10, 2015 I might pop in and check it out on the next stable release, I can wait. Not that eager to play, plus I have DayZ for ArmA 3 anyways.
karlkurtz32 59 Posted August 10, 2015 I'm not saying progress hasn't been made. I am absolutely saying the game hasn't changed much in the last several months. The game is boring for people and that's why many shoot on sight. I recently changed my style of play so that I could interact with others and see it from a different perspective...rather than running through the woods alone for weeks. Unarmed I could barely get out the word "hello" before I was shot in the head haha. I love the game and will continue to play. But don't come back from a hiatus expecting a bunch of change because there isn't any.
Reg Park 160 Posted August 10, 2015 i would say yes but merely personal opinion, i can't get enough despite the frustrating bugs. ive been consistently playing since the beginning and the only time i had to take a break for a few weeks was on the 0.55 patch because the zombies kept killing me with one hit. thankfully that has been addressed it appears. grimsonfart 49 Posted August 12, 2015 In my case it's not for sure. I have a bit too many hours in the mod and there is not enough change in SA to keep me entertained. I haven't bothered devoting time to it because it seems you have to really dive into it to see the changes, so if you just want to play it casually i wouldn't say it's worth it.
