Stamina/endurance

Recommended Posts

Should we have some kind of stamina/endurance system in our fine game?

Pls excuse my noobness if this question has already been settled before.

I think its kinda weird that our characters can sprint indefinitly with a 30-40 kg backpack. Some kind of stamina/endurance system tied up with the food/drink system would add some new dimmensions to the game.

It can be simple...ur starving--->low endurance. Which means u cant necessarly outrun zombies or even other players. It puts a limit on how long u can sprint.

Since the description for items include their weight, I assume how much weight u carry will actually have some effect later in development. Makes sense to tied the weight u carry to ur endurance too..

Are all the noobs coming out of a drunken Saturday night stupor? This has been discussed TO DEATH, and is already planned.

Use the search function for Christ's sake.

Thought we already had the basics (and I do mean basic) of a stamina/weight system put in?

I'm not too sure about that. I've inquired in the past about my dismally lacking running speed, compared to people with whom I've been running.  Even as a fresh spawn, running with a fully geared escort, I cannot keep pace unless my framerate is running above the mid-twenties.  Trust me, I'll be among the first to know when weight becomes and issue.

My current character has died only once since .57 hit stable, but I had a couple buds camp my gear so I still got it all.  I usually carry a M70 or Blaze fitted with a hunting scope, also my trusty sawn-off Izh shotty, a sawn-off mosin, CR75, longhorn, and occasionally a magnum or a flaregun used as a gun case (cringe), in addition to an ammo box, first aid kit, and 3 water bottles, plus a half dozen cans of peaches and varoius other stacks of ammo or random food items.

I'm actually enjoying the lack of persistence, despite my hoarder tendencies.  If the new stamina system is introduced in full, I would be at a major disadvantage without persistence.

So whatever early stamina system they have implemented has not seemed to have any effect on my run speed.  Though I am suspicious that my hydration has been depleting faster lately, I wouldn't know about the energy depletion, because I am a piggy who eats every single can of tuna and spaghetti that I find in HiIlux beds and long barns.  I hoard peechez.

Only things from stamina systems that are now in are:

Items have weight, but that doesn't effect anything

Hydration and energy consumption is faster when you run

Sway increases after some running

It's not in yet expect those very basic. It's coming and it has been talked very briefly on some weekly reports.

I dunno about your run speed, but you carry far too many guns. You know you can only use one at a time right?  :P

Yep. Heavy breathing after sprinting and weight of each item in kilograms upon inspection. I suspect this is just a placeholder for the system that is coming soon (new character controller?)

All I know is they better not do a straight stamina bar because that's the most annoying form of stamina possible in a game like this, where you have to run so much.  It's also the laziest solution possible.

I'd like to see stamina in the form of your hydration/energy level dropping over long distance sprints. You should be able to jog for long distance without too much problem, but sprinting should quickly make both your energy and hydration drop. So you can sprint for a while if you have food/water with you, but you'll be chewing up your resources far more than if you just jog.

just hope it doesn't become such a PITA to travel without vehicles.....having to stop and rest every few minutes to drink/eat - that will get old quick.

They are each pretty well-suited for different tasks, and I just can't bring myself to travel light; as there is currently no incentive to do so.  It's okay, I am one of those so-called functional gun-aholics.  I mostly carry the sawn-off Mosin just to make others mad that I would defile it in such a way.   ;)

Running everywhere in couple minutes gets old more quicker. Slowing things down should also mean less resting and drink/eat consuming.
