Connect3d 29 Posted June 9, 2015 So I was just talking to someone on Reddit and they mentioned we could improve third person by disabling third person view whenever you have a weapon in your hands. Seems like a start to me. They give you everything you want: 1st person all the time. The sad truth is, however, that it is a vocal minority that enjoys this playstyle and 1st person servers generally speaking are ghost towns. This leads folks like your self to continually propose the removal or modification of 3rd person to a point where it is acceptable to a 1st person-centric player. They/you propose this so the rest of us are forced to switch and therefore direct population towards themselves/yourself. If 1st person was as amazing and desirable as some (again very vocal) members of the community would have us believe then these posts wouldn't exist, as they would all be quite satisfied playing amongst them selves, chattering back and forth about what horrible noobs all us 3rd person people are. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I like 1pp because it gives more of a immersive experience. I like 3pp because I get a better fov and its nice to see the clothes and loot I have gathered. I like the new 3pp perspective because it's nearly identical to the suggestion I made several months ago regarding the camera from TLOU (I like to think that my idea was heard :P) and it inhibits peeking, unless your damn determined to look stupid doin it. We cannot help that no one wants to play 1st person. mrbeaneater 21 Posted June 10, 2015 There is a reason why there are 1st and 3rd person perspectives, not everyone likes the same thing. I personally like both POVs, 1st is more immersive and more challengeing while 3rd is more calm and relaxed(but don't get me wrong 3rd can still give you that adrenaline rush).From what i read on here the problems with 1st person is that there aren't enough people playing it, people just don't like it, and some people can't play it due to medical reasons. The third reason can't be help but if 1st person players would promote 1st person servers or even try to be open-minded and try to convince players to at least try out your servers instead of saying 3rd person is completely terrible and trying to basically absorb 3rd person into 1st and while 3rd person does need change to stop exploiters and equal the playing field i'm sure it can be done without adding 1st aspects. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

You want to quote server pop numbers as proof but it's only proof that 3PP is broken/exploitable and easy mode. They all want the path of least resistance. Everyone has a negative knee jerk reaction to changes that require adaptation from something they were comfortable in. Well, the last thing DayZ should foster is feelings of comfort. I'm not going to stop listening to Frank Zappa and start listening to Katy Perry just because everyone else does. It does however behoove me as someone with relative pitch and some natural and practiced musical talent, to try to enlighten those people who do not have the benefit of those talents as to what the better made music entails that makes it better. That's where the devs come in.... they know better about what makes DayZ scary and challenging and they will school us.
