Sniper Rifle?

Where do you find sniper rifles now adays?  Been looking onlinr for somer help, all threads i see are older ones, and of really no help.

 

Also one other question, can you get loot on a private server and take to a public server?  semms everythime i spawn on a private server I am a bambi again.\

private servers have their own hive, so you will have an new toon on every private server.

You can´t take items from private to public servers.

 

sniper riffles could be found at....but who needs it?

Piano houses, pick-up trucks, log taverns, Novo city hall, all good places to find Mosins.

As i do not have any RL friends that play game, i have always like the sniper solo game.  I am assuming it is still a viable game play style?

The only sniper rifle that exists in the game is the SVD in experimental branch. You can put a scope on a mosin (or other rifle) to perform in a long-range-sniper-type role if you wish. So long as you aren't starving to death or dying some other way, it's a perfectly viable play style, so is running around in your undies and collecting worms in a courier bag for that matter.

Don't try too hard, though. This week everyone's characters are being reset.

If you want to find a Mosin, look in big houses and industrial areas.

 

Or look on dead bodies..

Technically, you can " snipe " with any weapon, comes down to the uses skill, just like I can " assault " any one with a rifle :P

By "Sniper Rifle" I'm assuming you mean the Mosin, which spawns in basically any civilian building that can spawn guns (i.e. piano house.) You'll also need the LRS (or PU scope) which can be found in the same spots. The SKS is compatible with the PU scope as well, and spawns at the same places as the Mosin, though it's not as good at long ranges, and there's the LongHorn that has a built-in scope. The M4A1, AUG, AK series (except AK-74 and AKS-74U on stable), FNX45, and MP5K are all also compatible with optics to some degree.

 

However, if you play experimental 0.56 there's a scope for the Winchester Model 70 (basically a .308 Mosin gameplay-wise), Blaze 95, CR-527, Sporter-22, and Trumpet, allowing them all to be used as "sniper rifles." They also have the SVD, an 'actual' sniper rifle, and the VSS Vintorez, which is another precision rifle. And, of course, there's a Kashtan C-1 scope for all AKs/SVD/VSS (including the AK-74), as well as the UMP45 that can use any standard picatinny-rail optics. Oh, and who can forget the Crossbow, that is compatible with the now-detachable LongHorn scope.

 

So, yeah, there's plenty around in the way of "sniping."

agreed then again if we could melee like that and use all the weapons as we would then a lot of things would be different alas we must work in the confines of the world we play in and it as of now doesn't allow us to bash a mans skull in with the butt of my rifle nor make him kiss the curb with my red punk boots.

I thought earlier today they said that the update will be coming NEXT week?  Not that I'd complain, been holding off playing until the wipe/patch and am eager to try things.

It was supposed to be released last wendsay from what I had heard.

 

But then they said it might've come out last Friday if they were fast about it, when Friday passed, they said "definitely next Wednesday". Which is in two days.

All those poor Soviet soldiers in WW2.....  assaulting whole cities with just the Mosin.  :)

To the original poster, any old rifle with a scope is a sniper rifle.  Anything fancy and black and "sexy" looking is just trimmings that are not necessary.  If you are looking for a tool to do the job of killing people at long ranges without them having time to find you and fire back, any rifle will do, even a .22.

 

If the tool you want is to go head to head in buildings and into towns, then you need something that fires faster or bigger, such as the SKS or a shotgun.

 

Then again, once the game is fully fleshed out and developed past the Alpha and Beta, the last thing any player would want to do is get into a firefight with other players.  The time and risk involved will be too great to waste on a simple fight.  Trust and player to player interaction will be far more risky and rewarding than shooting at each other.  Surviving the diarrhea one has, or the broken bone or staving off starvation will require some very interesting yet very distrustful daily interactions with other players (or at least one can hope they stick to this). 

There will however, always be a role for the long range shooter and the breacher with the assault rifle.
