dark nights, when?

Recommended Posts

Dark night --> need to use lights --> lights attracts pvp campers like moths. See a light, shoot it, see a light, shoot it.

that would be positive in my book. :<

Notice how it didn't come back? Funny how that works.

I'm not replying to you for the simple fact, your logic is somewhat below par.

There's no point arguing with that guy, he's in denial thinking gamma abuse isn't an exploit. Also, think I found his pals from SPECIAL Forces.

To the topic at hand - I was fine with the mod-type pitch blackness so I'm fine with what it is now, but people are never going to play night time if we have 24/7 daylight servers and the gamma exploit. Those two things should be addressed before doing anything to the night darkness.

it is a sad day when one buys a CoD collectors edition just so they can walk to the bin outside once every week.

On topic though: i do remember the mod being pitch black.  probably not representative of real night, because i get around with no artificial light most nights no worries.  Should be able to 'see' without being able to discern specific detail. There's a fine line between realism and playability though, so more arcade-aspects are present even in most games, barring perhaps some simulators, but this is to broaden the audience.  Making the game to BI's own concept/ideals may be as simple as making as much money by satisfying as many customers as they want, or they have a well defined (and presumably semi-fluid) model of what they intend to make already thought up.  I'm leaning to expecting the latter, but I wouldn't think a little middle ground would hurt the purists, casuals, or impulse buyers much at all, ultimately.

"As long as we  make the game we set out to make, and are true to *that*, it does not matter if only 10 people end up playing DayZ"

Those are your words, not mine.  To me removing the difficulty aspect of night time is appeasing to a crowd and not you creating what you want.

Ehem... He is still making that game that he wants. Making a game you want doesn't mean never soliciting advise from others.

Ya OK.  That's why they folded when people whined about how dark it used to get and then the loot system.  Spare me.

The more BI stays to making a -harsh survival anti game- the better. Not sure how likely that is to be honest. We already have 3PP (bleh!) and now talk of a stealth meter and stamina bar :(

Even with those implemented, if they get the loot structure and crafting systems correct it will still work out to be a great survival game!

Players will almost always take the path of least resistance, it's up to the devs to decide what path that will be.
